You're looking for a lettuce variety that's easy to grow and maintains its quality over time.
Cimmaron Romaine Lettuce is a reliable and easy-to-grow variety. Its heat tolerance and resistance to bolting make it suitable for extended harvesting, providing you with fresh greens for longer.
You're not sure about the best germination practices for these lettuce seeds.
To germinate Cimmaron Romaine Lettuce seeds, sow them directly in well-prepared soil. Plant them about 1/4 inch deep and ensure consistent moisture. Thin the seedlings as they grow to allow proper spacing.
Can I grow Cimmaron Romaine Lettuce in containers?
Absolutely! While it's great in the ground, this lettuce also thrives in containers with good drainage.
What's the best time to start these seeds?
For many regions, early spring and late summer are ideal. Sow the seeds 2-4 weeks before the last frost date in the spring or around the end of summer for a fall harvest.
Can I save the seeds from mature lettuce plants?
Yes, you can! Allow some plants to go to seed. Once the seed heads dry and start to shed seeds, collect them for future planting.
"I'm not sure if I'll like the taste of this lettuce."
Cimmaron Romaine Lettuce offers a unique, sweet flavor profile that adds variety to your salads and dishes. Trying new tastes is part of the gardening adventure!
"I'm concerned about the time it takes to maintain lettuce."
This variety is relatively low-maintenance and resists bolting, giving you more time to enjoy fresh, homegrown lettuce.
"I prefer buying mature plants at the store."
Growing from seeds is rewarding and cost-effective. You get to witness the entire growth process, from tiny seeds to delicious harvests.

Cleaning Chinese Stem Lettuce seed. Before this point, we let it go to flower and seed, harvested the whole stalk and dried it for a week in the hoop house, threshed it in a bucket with a stick (a la @wild_garden_seed), sifted through a sieve, winnowed through a #diyseedcleaneraspirator, and then did this sifting shown here. See the second photo for two grades of seed - a high suction on right (heaviest seed) and lower suction on left. If we get a good germination rate with these combined, great! If not, we will select the heavier seed again and retest. See third photo for the lettuce at harvest stage for eating! #celtuce #chinesestemlettuce #stemlettuce #lactucasativa #lettuce #lettuceseeds #seedsaving

Got these this morning from Wilkinson in my area. I do not plan on using any pots to grow in but ding lettuce I plan on only growing a few of each type as it is only for me and the wife. With the lettuce really do not want to disturb the roots so the little pots will be great and they are made of fibre so you can just plant them into the ground and they will rot away so no plastic. What do you think of this type of pot ? #flowerpot #fibrepots #lettuceseeds @lovewilko #lettuceroots (at Cheltenham, Gloucestershire) https://www.instagram.com/p/B7BTeywAwEn/?igshid=kaqblnyq030u

I'm going to start harvesting lettuce seed this week! The seed heads are so beautiful - puffed up and feathered like dandelions, and with such pretty ridged bundles of seeds. When about 75% of the seed heads are open like this, I'll cut the entire stalk (which has hundreds of seed heads, sometimes) and let it dry and mature for a week in the hoop house on sheets. Then I'll whack them inside a big bucket and winnow the seeds through my aspirator. I'll show that process in a couple weeks. #landiswinterlettuce #lactucasativa #lettuceseed #seedsaving

Lettuce seed season starts today with this first feather! As for the second photo (you may need to upgrade your Instagram to see it), I try so hard to capture the beauty and hope of thousands of blooming lettuce flowers, and nothing quite does it like having the built-in, hopeful, seed nerd filter. #lettuceseed #lettuceflower #lettuceflowers #lactucasativa #landiswinterlettuce #seedkeeping #seednerd #lettucefeather (at Newtown Square, Pennsylvania)
