This week, i lost two days completely. i could not feed myself, i lacked the strength to chew even if i had food. Obviously, no driveways were shoveled. Time not spent in #sleepparalysis found me so groggy and exhausted that i could not function. And, in that tiny window of utter inability, all the work I had done for a month to make sure my #longtermdisabilityinsurance had the information they needed was nullified. Today, right at five pm on a Friday, they let me know that i am magically no longer #disabled and all of the benefit i paid for is withdrawn. i have been incandescent with outrage and impotence, taking the precaution to delete the chat apps from my phone, because everyone is overloaded. Friends have asked me to stop messaging. i have been told unequivocally requesting help is a burden. And i can be quiet, because everyone is overloaded and i have my #art. And, all of that, i accept as the price paid for living alone. However, there are demands placed upon these shoulders that just seem gratuitous and this is one. The fragile foundation of my security just got ripped away because insurance and a records department won’t talk to each other. And i know i am lucky to have had a job that offered the insurance in the first place. My goodness, i am fortunate because these people have no idea how annoying i can be when i am fighting for my life. #tenacity Today was the best day this week, and i am sitting on a bare mattress because i cannot make the bed by myself. the dirty dishes are starting to form language. Too often i am barely hanging on, drowning my pain with poetry and painting and love. The insurance and the healthcare bureaucracies have laid me low tonight. So far, no art has been made. But, i am still posting because this is unjust. And i am so lucky.
