So people who know HG's translation ways better than me...

Can anyone tell me why 流光乍裂 is translated as 'Riving Lighttails'? Because afaik, 'lighttail' is not a word.

In fan translations, I've seen 流光乍裂 translated as 'Splash of Iridescence', 'Passing Fortunes' and as 'Shattered Time' (which is my personal favorite even though I don't think it's accurate).

So why go with 'Riving Lighttails'?

Another idea I had for Lighttail's romantic life post-DF was to make him a love interest for Volenight

since they both have very strong senses of justice (even though Volenight misused his)

Maybe the pathetic old men poly (TM) could be Lighttail, Stonesun, Volenight, and Wills's unnamed resident? I would imagine it working like the MAHG (MyrtleAlderHootGrouse) poly since I can't really imagine Stone and Vole being into each other romantically, but I feel like they would both work together great for Light, so 👀

Lighttail- An intelligent and kind she-cat. Lighttail is always trying to think of new ways to help her clanmates, and she tries her best to remember when cats have gone on patrols to ensure she doesn’t overwork them. Lighttail has made it clear that if any cat has any problems, they can come to her and she can try her best to help, she will even pass on suggestions to her leader anonymously if a cat wants to suggest something but is too nervous to let their leader know who the suggestion is from. Lighttail is great at improvising, and so she is great in a difficult situation, especially in battle, she can think her way out of almost anything, 13/10

Snowpuff - A friendly and gentle cat. Snowpuff is a very friendly cat who will not hesitate to help a cat that needs it, even cats from outside his own clan, and he will show them all the kindness and respect he would give one of his own clanmates, they are still a cat after all, where they come from shouldn’t affect how they are treated in Snowpuff’s mind. Snowpuff is a great listener, and he will always spare the time for a cat that wants to talk to him, even if it’s an elder telling a story that he has heard several times before. Snowpuff loves kits, and it isn’t uncommon to see him playing with them while their parents get a much deserved break, he is always gentle when he plays with them, he would be horrified if he hurt them in any way, 15/10

Thrushflight - An energetic and confident tom. Thrushflight is regarded as one of the fastest, if not THE fastest warrior in WindClan, and this is something he is extremely proud of, it isn’t uncommon to see if doing laps around camp to try and increase his stamina and speed, and no matter how far her runs he always seems to be up for a patrol afterwards. Thushflight will readily leap into battle as he is keen to show off his moves when the opportunity arises, he likes to use his speed to confuses his opponent before striking, and he is considered an excellent hunter, often catching rabbits like it is nothing, cats often praise him for his catches, attention which only boosts his already high levels of confidence, 15/10

Leafheart - A thoughtful and nervous tom. Leafheart is a naturally skittish cat, he’s always extremely careful in anything he does as long as he can spare the time, and he is always on lookout for attacks. Leafheart will often volunteer to take guard duty, he hates being so skittish and he hopes that doing guard duty will help, even if he still does often bristle his tail at the smallest sound, this time gives him time to think, which is another reason he volunteers for the job, he likes to reflect on some things and wonder about others, 14/10

lightfoot lighttail born to firestar & onestar RIGHT before they started bickering and their friendship fell apart, lightfoot grew to distaste both of their fathers. they swapped between clans a few times (think what twigbranch did) before firestar just, decided that they'd stay in thunderclan even though most cats there weren't a fan of them and heathertail, their half-sibling and one of the only cats who was friends with them, lived in windclan. lightfoot felt scarily divided for most of their life... until darktail showed up. the warrior could tell darktail and onestar had something going on, eventually going to the rogue to ask him about it. over time, the two bonded and became much more like siblings, to the distaste of onestar and firestar. though, to most cats, it seemed more one-sided, lightfoot following darktail around like a shadow and eventually changing their name to lighttail to match his. after darktail's death, lighttail took the leftovers of the kin and led them away, becoming their new leader and never being seen again.

I think Lighttail's family should be called something like Blind Family / Sight Family because of how many members have something going on with the eyes (mainly blindness)

I’ve tried to keep coat colors as genetically accurate as possible but with mostly canon eye colors. I’ve also tried to avoid all instances of incest. If I’ve overlooked anything LMK.

 Notes on changes from canon blow the cut :)

Rainfur is the sister of Doestar and Deerpaw. She is from a later litter of their parents’. She has a relationship with a WindClan cat, Sandgorse’s sibling, and they have Tawnyspots, Thrushpelt, and Dappletail. And yes, they are cousins with Talonstar (Tallstar).

After Moonflower’s death, Stormtail decides to pursue Dappletail, despite the fact she only receives her warrior name after his daughters have become apprentices. They have Cricketkit and Featherkit together. The two kits pass soon after their birth and the two separate.

Much later Dappletail has a litter of kits (Red, Willow, and Spotted) with an unnamed cat, probably a loner.

Snowfur is now Snowstorm. Her son is named after her.

Redtail and Runningwind are mates and have Sandstorm together. Sandstorm’s kithood and Redtail’s deputyship overlap.

Willowpelt has three litters. The first is Lighttail (Longtail) and Darkstripe, the second Graystripe, and the third Sootfur, Rainwhisker, and Sorreltail. The first two are with unnamed loners/housecats. The third litter is older than canon and are apprentices by the time the battle with BloodClan occurs. Sorreltail is initially Darkstripe’s apprentice.

Silverstream doesn’t die in childbirth, instead Graystripe preemptively decides to move to RiverClan upon learning she’s pregnant. Silverstream dies along with Stonetalon (Stonefur) while running from TigerClan.

The whole Graystripe and Millie plot happens. When Graystripe returns and finds that both of his kits have left the clans, he decides to move back into ThunderClan.

Brackenfur and Cinderlight (Cinderpelt) are born later than canon and are apprenticed around the same time as Brightheart and Thornclaw, who were found abandoned and are fostered by Frostfur.

Switching up TNP and PO3 relationships, Squirrelflight and Crowstorm (Crowfeather) have a fling that results in Alderheart, Jayflight (Jayfeather), and Sparkstorm (Sparkpelt). At the same time, Leafpool is in a relationship with Mothwing, and they have Lionblaze, Hollyshine (Hollyleaf), Juniperkit, and Dandelionkit. The two litters are born at the same time and the five surviving kits are raised together by Squirrelflight with no stated sire.

Stormfur dies instead of Feathertail in the mountains. The tribe’s prophecy involves a silver cat and the storm. When Stormfur is later fighting Sharptooth, both are struck by lightning and die. Crow asks to be named after him.

Jayflight and Berrynose are mates, but Jay is uncomfortable with the idea of carrying kits, so they approach Poppyfrost to act as a surrogate. During this, they grow closer. Berrynose becomes mates with Poppyfrost as well, and Jay and Poppy are besties.

Brightheart and Cloudtail have their second litter much sooner than canon, between Ferncloud’s second and Sorreltail’s first. Ambermoon and Dewnose are born during the journey while they stay with the tribe.

Cinderheart is instead Emberheart, to remember both her aunt Cinderspark and her uncle Sootfur who die in the fight against the badgers. The reincarnation plot does not happen.

Lilyheart has litter with an unnamed cat, probably a loner.

As she is now much older than (and related to) Larksong, Sparkstorm has her litter with Toadstep. Ferncloud, Toadstep, and Flickerkit die in the Dark Forest battle when a cat gets into the nursery. Whitewing fosters Finch and Flame while she’s grieving.

Stormcloud and Cherryfall become mates and have Flywhisker, Snaptooth, and Spotfur.

Instead of Sorreltail, it’s Brackenfur that dies in the Dark Forest battle. Sorrelstripe is now Brackenstripe.

Blossomfall and Ivypool are mates. Both have litters of kittens with loners and raise them together. Bristlefrost looks up to Stemleaf as an older brother figure.

How do you think Lighttail and Stonesun would get together? 🤔

I think they would be great! Light tail seems like just the thing Stone needs to be grounded, and Stone, when in his best, can have great humour that can also keep Light’s thoughts from his grandsons

I believe Wills also had a mate for Stone in mind, so maybe they can be a fully supportive poly!
