It was dark.

The only light in the room came from his screen as Yoongi lay in bed, phone propped between his hands and bottom lip pulled between his teeth. His thumbs twitched as they hovered back and forth over the touchscreen keyboard while he searched for the right thing to say.

Words weren’t normally something that Yoongi struggled with, but he had to choose wisely. And so, with an exhale of breath that blended in with the shouts of the maknae line out in the living room, Yoongi slowly tapped away. His eyes read over it to scour for any accidental typos before he pressed “done” and watched as it posted.

                 I really should be sleeping right now, but I can’t.

Within seconds, comments and cheers flooded his screen as ARMY poured onto Weverse like their lives depended on it. Yoongi always found it astonishing how quickly their fans responded to whatever they posted on the app. But he wasn’t paying attention to the random usernames that popped up underneath his post. No, his eyes were too busy scanning for something more familiar, something that had him posting more and more frequently than what used to be normal.

It took a few minutes, his hope starting to dwindle with each and every comment that filed neatly underneat his post in more languages than he could count. His members would call him desperate, stupid, an idiot for doing what he was doing if they had even a sliver of suspision. Which was why they didn’t know. Not because Yoongi was afraid of what they’d say or think, but because he didn’t want them to voice the same doubts that sometimes ran through his own head.

He almost missed it. With eyes trained so firmly on the screen that it started to blur together with his wandering thoughts. But right there he caught it before it could be buried far beneath the other comments, never to be found again.

A snort escaped into the quiet darkness of his room. Yoongi quickly tapped on the pencil icon in the righthand corner of his screen to pull up another text post. This time he didn’t even need to think before he thumbed his response across the screen.

                 But if I closed my eyes, I wouldn’t be able to talk to you.

Once again, Yoongi’s eyes tracked as army’s flooded to his post. As they speculated what he meant, he ran his tongue over his lips in amusement. Some of the fans were claiming that he was speaking directly to them, or that for some reason he’d turned to Weverse to teasingly drop new lyrics for a song on the approaching comeback. But Yoongi wasn’t paying attention to them because--

It didn’t take him long to formulate a response.

                  As if.

Yoongi really hoped that there weren’t any of what the group liked to call Sherlock army, on Weverse scouring through the responses in order to figure out just who it was that he was responding to. It’d been like this for a few weeks. Ever since your comment under one of his posts grabbed his attention and refused to let go. If it weren’t for the fact that he didn’t know who you were or even how to get into contact with you, Yoongi wouldn’t be posting all over Weverse for anyone to see. Not that he thought anyone would be smart enough to put the pieces of the puzzle together with how many people responded to his posts anyway.

Except you. He hoped you could.

Seconds passed into minutes, but your response never came. Did you fall asleep? Or had you finally grown tired of the game he hoped you knew you were playing together? A frown tugged at his lips, tongue pushing into the meat of his cheek. Why weren’t you responding?

Yoongi sighed, heart beating in his chest as he switched over to the feed section. Posts and pictures flooded in faster than he could count, each and every one of them vying for his attention, begging for him to respond to them. But Yoongi brushed over them, scrolling down in frustration as the page continued to refresh every three seconds as more posts poured online. It wasn’t that he didn’t care what his fans were saying, no, he was just looking for you.

It took him a while to wade through all of the chaos, but finally, Yoongi came across your name and clicked before the page could refresh and he lost you forever.

Okay, maybe he should stop being so melodramatic.

But that didn’t matter because a laugh passed his lips before he could think to stop it.
