the first kiss scene Alina is so beautiful Her little smile as she picks up his kefta after he hears him call out for Ivan to get it like ooh I'm gonna play a little trick on Alek Her making him smile with a joke that's not even funny The tentativeness of it all, them tiptoeing around each other, testing the boundaries Him being taken aback by her offering to help him put on his kefta but still wanting her to and immediately resorting to business voice asking questions about official sun summoner stuff And putting on his serious business face him trying to explain away the gloves by calling them a safeguard, not a sign of him not trusting her abilities the face he makes after saying spectacle either depicting his distaste for the showiness of the event or depicting his embarrassment at how he phrased the sentence, like what the fuck did I just say (more likely the first one) Her quickly turning around and walking away after the eye contact makes her realise how close they are and him pulling a puzzled look as she does so Just. Her poorly suppressing a smile, him looking at her visibly, her mimicking him with a glance out of her periphery, causing her to give in to her smile completely. Hi idk if this is weird but I’m panicking and could use some advice from someone who I assume has done this before.

I’m 20 and about to start my second year of college. Last year I obvs lived at home because of the pandemic. But I just got my housemate assignment for the upcoming year.

I’m living in gender neutral housing. I’m nonbinary. I think. Idk. I haven’t figured everything out. ANYWAY I’ve grown up pretty sheltered. Went to All Girl schools my whole life. And now I’m living with three other people who are not interacting with me at all despite my best attempt.

Im scared to live with new people. Im scared to potentially live with mean people or with folks who I don’t vibe with or just… bad people. Like not everyone is good and some real pieces of shit could have chosen gn housing so they could live with people of other genders who they’d be attracted to.

Point is: im scared. Im scared I won’t make friends. Im scared I’ll be a horrible housemate. And im irrationally scared of being attacked/assaulted/ or worse.

Have you lived with roommates/housemates and howd you stay safe and happy???

I also have no siblings so I don’t even have experience living around other kids my age. Like the best I’ve got is sleepovers and that’s not even close to the same. I’m so genuinely scared. Hekjdksjr

alright baby. deep breath. as someone with pretty bad anxiety and experience with both good and bad roommates, i’m gonna do my best to offer advice.

so, first of all, try not to stress before anything has happened. there’s always the chance that the experience isn’t the greatest, but you don’t know that until it’s actually happening. i know it sounds dumb and is kind of hard to do, but recognizing that nothing has gone wrong yet will make it easier to go in with an open mind.

you said you’re scared you’ll be a horrible housemate, but truly it’s not too hard to be a good one. the biggest things people fight about are food, noise, and chores. for example, simply don’t eat anything you didn’t buy. generally try to have your own stuff that you use (like dishes and food basics and things like that.) establish ground rules for chores. my roommate right now and i are pretty relaxed about this and just take out the trash when it’s full, not paying attention to who took it out last time. but my old roommate just…..wouldn’t take out the trash?? and just stack her shit on top of the old stuff until it was impossible to close the bag?? that’s stuff that’s annoying to deal with, but all you can really do is be respectful and normal and hope they do the same.

safety is important, and i’m sure you’ll figure out very quickly how safe you feel with your housemates. i’ve never met anyone that did gender neutral housing and didn’t enjoy it for safety reasons, though i’m sure that happens sometimes. but trusting your gut is the best way to keep yourself safe in that situation. other than that, keep pepper spray with your purse or keys, double check that you’ve locked doors and windows, and, if it makes you feel better, put furniture in front of doors to feel safest. my roommate and i each lock our bedroom doors every night, and we slide an armchair in front of our balcony door and a barstool in front of our front door. we feel really safe in our apartment complex, but knowing we have that extra protection makes us feel better.

the biggest issue with my awful roommate was pettiness and obliviousness. she did not communicate when she was upset with me. she did not do her part on the chores. if i did something wrong in the house (one time i screwed up the dishwasher and there were bubbles everywhere) she would just be so weirdly mean and aggressive. she also made messes everywhere and didn’t clean anything. i really love cleaning and do it as stress relief, snd my current roommate enjoys that and knows that i don’t mind if she’s not frequently vacuuming or wiping things down. but my old roommate just left crumbs and shit everywhere and didn’t care at all. you need to respect the shared living space and the boundaries of the other person without getting passive aggressive when your own boundaries are crossed. be firm and communicate openly, but also have patience with other people. they’ve never lived with strangers either and i’m sure they’re just as nervous as you.

overall it just comes down to being respectful and trusting your instincts. i’m sure you’re a lovely person to have around and you’ll have a great time. if not, it’s really no big deal. i had two years with that bad roommate but now i live with one of my friends and i can’t imagine living with anyone else. our lifestyles compliment each other perfectly and we don’t really get into disagreements. in general, just try to communicate. if they refuse and are unwilling to respect the house rules and boundaries, you can go to an RA or something if you’re living in dorms. you won’t be living w these people forever, and in college it’s pretty easy to avoid roommates if you really want to, because you’ll be out going to class or getting food or studying elsewhere if you want to be. you’ll be fine, baby. truly. you’re gonna have a great year.

Macbeth:

+ Sorano: Its one i’m happy with either otp or brotp (its an original ship from way back but i havent developed it or had a chance to think much about it so its probably more sitting in brotp land atm, it needs more love in any case). They have been together forever, they Know each other. They Get it. Which could also be bad in a way but idk. She is also one of the few people he actually cares about :’) and they just have such a Look 

+ Meredy: Ever since Oracion Seis joined CS i’ve been thinking about these two! They’ve done bad things, she’s working to be good. He’s.......well, not really working on that. It could all go so Bad but also just be interesting. He might mess with her and i dont think my boy is really capable of a good kinda love but kjngkfjn they look nice together ok. And i think they could have a good dynamic and she really just. Puzzles him. I’ve also kinda actually had a bad experience with this ship in the past but I’m trying not to let it taint the ship as a whole! 

+ Levy: She’s a feisty little nerd and he is here for it ok. I have been craving at least a brotp with them for like 5 years for real 😭 i think her intelligence will get him hooked especially. But also again, he’s gonna mess with her and tug at any insecurity she has, so theres gonna be some rough patches for sure. But also i just think they’d look cute.

+ Juvia: HE KNOWS ALL ABOUT HER OK she and gajeel destroyed some of the guilds Oracion Seis were running and in my book he was impressed. He has long been interested in her since then, she’s highly skilled and she’s smart and he also just doesn’t really understand her

+ Millianna: they’ve both survived the Tower and he remembers her from there. A running theme for him in any sort of relationship is for him to push the boundaries and just be an ass, he likes to get into peoples minds and mess with them (it isnt until they either break or he starts to respect them more that he eases up) but with Milli i think he will just let her be. He knows what she’s been through and for once he doesn’t want to further someone’s pain. She’s also super frickin cute and I’m a sucker for the bubbly girl and emo dude aesthetic. Also he really likes cats so they can bond over that.

Erza (honestly just hateship all the way 😂), Cana (fun and chill vibes im thinking), Flare (in a verse where she’s joined CS maybe and idk. they both have fabulous hair and are pretty but with a vein of psycho), Lucy (i used to ship it a lot, i think her intelligence and strength would interest him, i like the light and dark aesthetic too, but its also another ship i had a bad experience with, so its a little lower on the list for me atm), Mary (shhhhh ok they would be fun brotp or otp)

Loke:

+ Cana: Canon teammates, good friends. Beautiful looking pair. They have such great potential and with the right plotting it could hurt so good. I imagine they had a lot of trust before he was called out as being a spirit and i’d love to explore them working on rebuilding their connection. Angst and tension central.

+ Lucy: Their bond is so so so so important to me in whatever form it is. I’ve shipped them for a long time but also its difficult because of him being under her contract, so honestly I’m absolutely happy for some one-sided love or tragic forbidden love/believed unrequited stuff. He would do anything for her in any case.

+ Juvia: a guilty pleasure ship tbh. She deserves someone as generous and open as he is, and he’s a gentleman who will treat her right. I imagine mostly a soft friendship to lovers kinda thing (but obvs with some Drama bc he’s a spirit), he’d just be a very supportive and good friend to her and then the feels creep in? She’s also hella pretty. Also his friendship with Gray could also come into play too, like in a version of Juvia and Gray being close (bc gdi i would support a healthy friendship with those two) which leads to Loke spending more time with Juvia and he would approach her more without Gray too.

+ Yukino: I mean, again there’s some difficulty with the spirit/summoner and spirit/human thing but at least Yuki isnt his summoner (tho hmu for an AU maybe) and like. She just deserves someone nice like him.

+ Levy: she’s pretty and smart and deserves more love. I would love to explore their dynamic in general tbh bc i mean they were guildmates for a few years and i think he would have had some fun flirting/teasing her a bit and she’d maybe blush or roll her eyes or think nothing of it and never guess he actually does like her !
