why am i not seeing poc writers in fandom anymore?
thought experiment: imagine you're me. fresh off a full day of work, settling down to clean your space, maybe get some studying done, who knows. when all of the sudden bam!
someone hits you with this post.
now off the bat this doesnt really spark anything in me. just another writer moving to ao3, nothing serious.
and then, of course, I keep reading.
mind you, at this point im already on the call with my number one, my ride or die, my twin as you will. and I start reading the post out loud.
now, twin and i were actually part of holding this person accountable for their weird way they wrote black men. so, since we've never seen this post we're both curious to see what comes out of it.
i'm gonna be deadass, i went into this fully expecting it to be some lukewarm post about moving to ao3 and instead it goes from hehehaha funny to hehehaha weird.
now chat, this post, this one right here truly made me believe we have to be in some sort of simulation. cause you cannot be serious right now.
like we start off with the whole dogpiling accusation. the "dogpiling" in question was someone asking another user why they were reblogging stuff from someone that had brushed off racism allegations, which she did. said user then saying they thought girlypop had apologized, which she didn't (unless you want to call that lukewarm post an apology sure). and then defaulting to my twin as the morality compass to see if it was okay to interact with this girlypop or not.
the rest of it is filled with the same lukewarm takes and soft bullshit that these people say when they get called out that they actually don't mean.
so anyways, we blow past all of that and then get to this line.
"There is a difference between trying to encourage active anti-racism and just being cruel when someone makes a genuine mistake and tries their best to fix it."

at this point, we're both on call just looking at each other like ???? because I know this girl is not lying through her teeth saying she tried her best to fix it.
mind you, this is what the person that reached out to talk to her about her writing had to say about their conversation
so i'm supposed to believe that this person was trying their best to fix it?
aiiiiight.
not to mention the silly posts she made where she basically didn't take accountability for anything and tried to make it seem like it was a big misunderstanding. like girl, no the hell it wasn't. we are very aware of what we're talking about lmao.
and then we don't even get a chance to breathe because this is the next line
"A lot of people absolutely do the former and I appreciate them for that, but if you engage in the latter, I'd encourage you to try practice more empathy because otherwise that's exactly how you push people to the right"

screeeeeeeeeeeeech. now this is where the conversation comes to a full stop. cause girl, huh??? now I'm over here taking my glasses off, rubbing my eyes, cleaning the lenses trying to make sure I read that right and chat... i had in fact read that right.
so now i'm over here scratching my head because, girl if us calling you out for racist behavior is pushing you to that clan hood were you really being anti racist before? what blows me about this sentiment is the fact that it's basically these folks throwing the blame back to poc because we need to be super kind and hold their hand when we tell them that they're being racist and antiblack.
which is an insane ask, especially coming from white person. not only did people of color had to aggressively fight for any all rights they have today but they also had to lead the charge in helping teach about racism and all of these issues. it gags me that y'all come on here and swear up and down we have to be nicer to you to not push you to the right like its our job.
i need you to be serious.
now at this point we both tune the fuck out because everything she's saying is moot. after saying that crazy ass shit I'm not listening to a thing this girl has to say.
so back tot he title of this post.
im ngl this is the exact type of behavior that led me to delete my old blog. i can understand people being hard headed but this? this is just straight up blaming people of color that are holding you accountable for pushing you down the right. what an incredibly disgusting thing to say honestly. and then of course you have the so called "allies" in the fandom liking and sharing this post. and that's when I knew that those people truly aren't allies. because how do you call yourself an ally to poc people and then go support some that says this?
this is exactly why before i said I did not care for performative allyship. because y'all do nothing to actually be allies for us. you attach the tag to yourself and then use it as a way to defend people who are genuinely getting criticized.
poc were actively being targeted in that dumbass fandom every single fucking day and it was only other people of color speaking up and defending each other. not a single one of the incredibly loud allies stepped in to defend us or even tell these rabid ass mfs to stand down.
regardless, i learned my lesson and wiped my shit because those people definitely do not deserve to see my writings and be in my space. and that's most likely why so many other poc writers are also disappearing from your timelines
#ki chats#and thats why i left#cause these bitches sure are trying me#like y'all...#whatevre#anyways back to our regularly scheduled programming

Thinking about the Holmes story where a blind girl goes to him and is like "My fiancé is missing and he kept telling me the week leading up to his disappearance that he would always love me and come back for me,were anything to happen so I think he knew he was in trouble and I love him so much and I'm going to wait for him but I'd like to find him faster,ya know?" And Holmes figures out that it was this girl's parents to scam her out of money she was owed from an estate which she gave to them because she was still living at home, which she wouldn't be if she ever married,so her step father PRETENDED TO DATE HER for MONTHS to keep her from ever getting engaged to a real person and when Holmes finds out he confronts this man and this man is like "Well, you caught me! But it wasn't illegal:) so:)" and Holmes is like "No,but it was sickening and cruel and if she had a brother or good male friend he should post you up and whip you but she doesn't." And the man is like "No,she doesn't." And does the Victorian version of sticking his tongue out and Holmes is like "Well,I guess I'll do then!" And HE PULLS OUT HIS HUNTING WHIP.

One of my biggest nitpicks in fiction concerns the feeding of babies. Mothers dying during/shortly after childbirth or the baby being separated form the mother shortly after birth is pretty common in fiction. It is/was also common enough in real life, which is why I think a lot of writers/readers don't think too hard about this. however. Historically, the only reason the vast majority of babies survived being separated from their mother was because there was at least one other woman around to breastfeed them. Before modern formula, yes, people did use other substitutes, but they were rarely, if ever, nutritionally sufficient.
Newborns can't eat adult food. They can't really survive on animal milk. If your story takes place in a world before/without formula, a baby separated from its mother is going to either be nursed by someone else, or starve.
It doesn't have to be a huge plot point, but idk at least don't explicitly describe the situation as excluding the possibility of a wetnurse. "The father or the great grandmother or the neighbor man or the older sibling took and raised the baby completely alone in a cave for a year." Nope. That baby is dead I'm sorry. "The baby was kidnapped shortly after birth by a wizard and hidden away in a secret tower" um quick question was the wizard lactating? "The mother refused to see or touch her child after birth so the baby was left to the care of the ailing grandfather" the grandfather who made the necessary arrangements with women in the neighborhood, right? right? OR THAT GREAT OFFENDER "A newborn baby was left on the doorstep and they brought it in and took care of it no issues" What Are You Going to Feed That Baby. Hello?
Like. It's not impossible, but arrangements are going to have to be made. There are some logistics.
#idk what to tag this#worldbuilding#writing fiction#historical fiction#fantasy#a real-life example: my dad (a pediatrician) was once entrusted with the care of a baby who was born with a rare condition#this was in a place without great hospital/medical access and anyway they were going to fly the baby over#and he specifically asked them to bring the mother and baby#they show up with baby and...the baby's uncle#and he was like. y'all. do you think I asked for the mom to come just for fun??? We don't have formula here. what is the baby going to eat?

hey transfems, i don't know which of you need to hear this but it's okay to never use your penis during sex if you don't want to. it's okay to tell your partner not to touch it, to ignore it even, and hold them to respecting that boundary, no matter how many times you've had sex with them, or even if you've had sex with them with your penis involved.
you're not weird or broken for having needs or having boundaries, and you deserve lovers who respect those needs and boundaries. as someone who knows first hand, it's not worth it not to speak up.
this is a post for bottoms, switches, and tops. for subs or dom/mes. for anyone who feels like their no will go unheard or that the only reason people are sexually interested in you are those who want a woman with a dick. i promise you there are people who are out there who will listen, who will get you, and who will treat you how you deserve.
in fact? that's the absolute base line that anyone deserves during sex, and you deserve that and so much more.
#trans sex#trans sex ed#transmascs you're welcome to make similar posts but please don't reply them to this one#hell if you make a post like this for y'all and dm me i'll reblog it#💚

I was just browsing around here at random and I think the current generation of social media users need to re-learn a certain truth:
the Secret Service will investigate all perceived threats to the president or top government officials, even if they are clearly unserious.
Now, they aren't going to arrest you for joking about it. They are going to show up at your house with printouts of your tumblr and other social media and ask you some very pointed questions and it's going to be extremely uncomfortable. They want you to know that they know what you said, and that if you were planning to do more than talk, you should stop that, because now they have their eye on you.
And yeah, in the back of their minds they're thinking "what if this seemingly harmless poster actually turns out to have a gun and a plan, and we dismiss them because we think they couldn't possibly be serious?" But mainly the first thing.
Let me make one thing clear: I am expressing neither approval or disapproval of this practice. I am stating the fact that they've done this for decades -- it's not a particular feature of the new administration. And given that their one and only job is keeping some very unpopular people alive, it makes sense that they're being damn sure no one slips through the cracks. Because it only takes one.
Oh, and just for the record, if you use common censorship techniques to talk about "unaliving" or "k*lling" someone you shouldn't, they can still find you. Some of these people have been on the social media beat for years by now, you know they speak fluent TikTok.
Be safe out there, okay? Don't get put on a list for a dumb joke.
#by and large you can say all kinds of hyperbolic violent shit about random people and not draw LEO attention#it won't be regarded as a 'true threat'#(fuck you mullenweg)#but y'all i'm serious they are SUPER sensitive about the president#because among all the people joking and venting are also plenty of people mad enough to make a real plan#we don't hear about most of them because they're stopped before it gets that far#but like. imagine the obama years.

Not telling y'all that you should be able to identify AI slop (but it is a valuable skill, you totes should), but if you're to be accusing artists of being AI left and right at least go and do your homework, or at least do the bare minimum and use AI identification tools like Hive Moderation, so you 1- don't ruin someone's lifehood 2- don't make a clown out of yourself maybe
Like, i get it, AI slop and "AI artists" pretending to be genuine is getting harder and harder to identify, but just accusing someone out of the blue and calling it a day doesn't make it any better.
The AI clowns shifted to styles that have less "tells" and the AI arts are becoming better. Yeah, it sucks ass.
They're also integrating them with memes, so you chuckle and share, like those knights with pink backgrounds, some cool frog and a funny one liner, so you get used to their aesthetic.
This is an art from the new coming set Final Fantasy for MtG. This is someone on Reddit accusing someone of using AI. From what i can tell, and i fucking hate AI, there is NO AI used on this image.
As far as i can tell and as far as any tool i've used, the Artist didn't use AI. which leads to the next one:
they accused the artist of this one of using Ai. the name of this artist is Nestor Ossandon.
He as already been FALSELY ACCUSED of using AI, because he drew a HAND THAT LOOKED A LITTLE WEIRD, which caused a statement from D&D Beyond, confirming that no AI has been used.
Not to repeat mysef, they're accusing the art above, that is by Nestor, to have used Ai.
REAL artists are not machines. And just like the AI slop, we are not perfect and we make mistakes. The hands we draw have wonky fingers sometimes. The folds we draw are weird. But we are REAL. We are real people. And hey, some of our "mistakes" sometimes are CHOICES. Artistic choices are a thing yo.
If you're to accuse someone of using Ai, i know it's getting hard to identify. But come on. At least do your due diligence.
#no#i will not “tag” the Ai artists of the catsune miku and the cat cux for all i care AI artists can go to hell and burn#but like#there are many of them#and when you figure out how to spot ai and how the AI generate the images#please trust me on this one#it gets super easy to ident like 80% of most of it#the catsune miku is the HARDEST to ident so far#because it did something out of the ordinary#but otherwise the others have very easy tells#they're trying to mimic styles like watercolors and acrylic#that have blurred edges#and impressionism#that have undefined shapes#so theyr “mistakes” pass as intention#but that's besides the point#what i want here is people to just think a little but before randomly accuse people#cuz it's really getting out of had#and god i do love seeing an AI artist getting their wig yanked out of their fucking scalp for pretending to be a human#but y'all need to know when to do it#some of you don't know how to behave and it shows man

Crocodile finds a strange stray cat an 11-year old Nico Robin (AU where they met 13 years earlier. Robin's been on the run from the World Government for 3 years. Crocodile's 27 and has not set up base in Alabasta yet)
It seems like I have become possessed. By some sort of demon.
Bonus:
#My art#One Piece#Nico Robin#Sir Crocodile#Y'all the OP brainrot is BAD#According to an SBS Crocodile would absolutely spoil his child rotten if he had one. *We all know how Robin's childhood went*#Scary mofo who does not know how to parent a child but boy does he have the spirit + Child who has never had proper parent in her life#They'd make. An absolute disaster of a duo. This AU concept is so fucking funny to me okay#But also sad because I would fucking die for baby Robin she deserves the fucking world#This poor girl has never been spoiled in her entire life AND NOW PAPADILE IS HERE TO SPOIL HER#You know it's funny. I know 11 yo Robin should LOOK older than 8 year old Robin. But Crocodile is a fucking giant so she's still baby sized#Also I just had too much fun drawing Robin looking as pathetic as humanly possible lmao#She's a like a wet kitten in the rain 😭
