me when star allies is so so so close to being a fantastic game with amazing characters like zan being the eldest who takes the brunt of hyness and her religion’s cruelty or hyness being someone driven to insanity over his religion and devotion and the darker tone of the ending is so interesting and the gameplay is wholesome and the dream friends are so awesome but its english translation is so botched and it shrugs off hyness’s actions with “oh he got carried away its fine teehee he and the sisters are on best terms afterwards despite him abusing them since childhood” and the main story is not fun to replay bc its so easy and i cant blame people for saying its mediocre because not everyone is as invested in coming up with a story from the lore but its agonizing bc the game was so close to being a knockout

#echoed voice #im listening to voids theme. and dying badly #w the hyness thing like. i get it its the friendship game everything has to become a friend #but like they went wayyyy too far in making him fucked up if they were going to do a very small quick redemption #especially one where the sisters never waver in their loyalty to him despite his abuse #like. starlight in mlp is similar but at least her followers were disgusted and afraid of her for… a little while #the sisters dont even get a moment where they realize hes terrible to them they just stay blindly loyal to the end #and like. it rubs me the wrong way so bad #get a job!!! stay away from them!!!#especially zan who he very obviously does not respect and he doesnt even remember her and uses her as a punching bag #yet she stays devoted to him and loyal to him. and like if this wasnt like an ‘’up to interpretation’’ story for a younger audience #itd be fine if she didnt realize what he did was wrong and we could have a deconstruction of her character #but kirby lore is vague and what we’re shown of the story is often in small bursts #(which is made worse when hyness abusing the sisters is most of his screentime as opposed to like one moment #where he seems to ‘’come to his senses’’ and then aw everyone loves him now no consequences for him)#its one of those few times i think the interpretive format for kirby lore falls flat
