My lips has been super dry every morning I wake up due to the cold, rainy weather & I came across this highly raved lip oil on TikTok that is made in Malaysia! . This ultra-nourishing lip oil is enriched with Jojoba Oil and Vitamin E which makes my lips moisturised, smooth and healthy looking 😍 . I got the peach scented version which does leave a pink tint and smells like peaches too! . I do notice that my lips are less flaky and hydrated. I used a lot of the Kosas Lip Balms when she was out in the desert, and it was super drying there. We used some of the Epicuren moisturizers, which were super dewy. Underneath everything, I used tons of sunscreen, of course. At the end of the night, I used the Cleansing Jelly from Organic Pharmacy.

I changed foundations depending on where she was in her unraveling. We started off with Armani Luminous Silk Concealer and foundation.

My love for the @kosascosmetics LipFuel lip balms definitely grew while on vacation. ✈️ I brought two of them with me - Baseline (clear) and Pulse (warm nude). These feel incredible on your lips. You know that feeling where you just keep smushing your lips together because they’re so soft? That’s what you get with these. They’re not thick or goopy, and the hydration is lasting too! I absolutely love the shade Pulse because it gives a sheer wash of colour that is just enough to make you feel like you’ve put some effort in and keeps your lips feeling so smooth! These are perfection! 👌 Kosas has quickly become my favourite brand for clean beauty, especially their lip products. I have raved to no end about their Weightless Lip Colour, and these balms are a perfect complement to those! Tower28- I love the ethos, price point, aesthetic and performance of the products. Inexpensive, pretty and fun beachy vibe. Fave things: lip jelly, beach please cream blush, sos spray

Kosas- love the vibe and find the products perform really well. Idc really about "clean" ingredients but their products don't irritate my skin and I like that! Fave things: lipfuel, brow gel/pencil, cloudset powder, tinted face oil

Glossier- definitely the first brand to launch in my lifetime that I really identified with aesthetically. I love their minimal skin makeup, fun and comfortable formulas and relatively low prices. Fave things: Perfecting skin tint, ultralip, lash slick, protip eyeliner

Flower Beauty- I recently tried some things from this drugstore brand and was really impressed! Everything was cheap and performed amazingly. Really vibe with the aesthetic of the brand and found the packaging really cute and durable. Fave things: gel crush lip and cheek, chill out CBD lipgloss

Erborian- I absolutely adore their bb cream it's my hg foundation. The only thing that really covers my dermatitis without irritating it. I also love their primers. Fave things: bb cream, skin hero

A moment for skincare. Architects work late, stare at screens and forget to take breaks. We should hydrate more, I am sure of it. And when we don’t hydrate enough our skin will ask for repair. Prevention is always best practice, but let’s face it, we are all guilty of neglect. I have been obsessed with a few new beauty brands lately. I have been trying new products for the first time in years and I am so impressed with the changes in business models and approaches to skincare and make-up. I am impressed because I am finding makeup that doubles as skincare and more and more B corporations (more on this later). Have you heard of Kosas?! There products are juiced up with nutrients and while I have only tried one so far, the lipfuel, it’s the answers to years of searching for the right lip balm/lipstick/lip nourishment. Some products have missed the mark or possibly just don’t work for me but I have been so pleasantly surprised lately more than disappointed. Most of these products have been discovered thanks to Goop. Which has really changed the game in so many ways so if you don’t know, go listen!! Enter One Ocean...I am a La Mer junkie. I can’t afford it but somehow it finds it’s way into my life. So when I found this little number on Goop it had a strange reminiscence of La Mer but it’s cheaper and the company is environmentally active. This bottle contains 3 times as much product as La Mer for %90 of the cost. I can’t say I know if it does anything yet but my skin felt radiant after one plunge. This is a radical change in an industry where ingredients were really ignored for so long. What does this mean for architecture and architects? Maybe we can save our skin after we neglect it for years or maybe we can save it as we try to look somewhat presentable for our WFH video calls (see Kosas tinted face oil). Makeup we can fall asleep in?! Okay, maybe that’s a stretch but I’ll keep waiting for it. More importantly this new approach to business that is transparent and healthy has to bleed in to Architecture as well. This pandemic requires us to revisit the way we design buildings, to give it a fresh look but it isn’t just about the final product, the building, it’s holistic. After years of standardization we move into innovation. How can we be less standardized yet still efficient? How can we be more conscious of the environment and yet deliver end products on par with those that turn a blind eye. Food for thought but in the meantime I will keep slathering on this new stuff and let you know how it goes.

Clean is in 🧼💕 Do you know what in your makeup? In your skincare? Surprisingly, most people don’t. I didn’t. It didn’t even occur to me to look. But now that I have, I can’t un-look, and my journey for clean beauty deepens. I came across @kosascosmetics while wandering through @sephora, and I’ll admit, as usual, I was drawn in by their branding. The simplistic packaging caught my eye, and when I saw that they’re clean✔️ vegan✔️and totally cruelty free✔️ AND had a product called ‘tinted face oil’, it just seemed like a match made in heaven, and I had to try. Tinted Face Oil - I saw the name of this product, and was sold. I should’ve read a little more, because then I wouldn’t have been so disappointed at first. Despite the name, this very light foundation is not dewy at ALL. The finish is a natural, velvet texture, which I did ultimately end up loving, I was just expecting something totally different. My skin did not feel dry or tight at all, and I definitely noticed it really does create a kind of blurring effect, so my skin looked much smoother and clearer, but also very, very natural. Kosasport LipFuel - I love lip products in general, especially hydrating/healing ones, so I wasn’t a hard sell with this one. With ingredients like Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamin E, and Konica Root, this gel-like formula attracts and binds hydration to the lips, while smoothing, repairing and plumping them as well. The Oscars red carpet is not typically the venue for no-makeup makeup looks… unless you’re a man, that is. Indeed, though it may seem like male celebs show up to award season with innately flawless skin and filled-in brows, their perfected visages come courtesy of a few clever products that offer truly  natural results—because heaven forbid it seem obvious that a man is wearing makeup. (Oh, standards of gender presentation. A discussion for a different day.)

Anyway, not every makeup product marketed as offering a natural or indetectable effect delivers on its promises, but we are seriously impressed with the cool products celebrity makeup artists used on famous men like Rami Malek and Henry Golding on the Oscars and SAG Awards carpets this year. If you’re into the look of perfect skin and snatched brows without looking like you have any makeup on at all, keep scrolling to check out the beauty products and advice that will make you look as low-key flawless as an A-list dude.

For Nicholas Hoult, makeup artist Kumi Craig, who specializes in men’s grooming, focused mostly on skincare so she could use as few makeup products as possible. "It was easy to achieve a fresh-faced look for Nicholas with his already glowing skin,“ she said. She used Dior's Age-Delay Mattifying Serum ($95) all over the face and Prestige Le Micro-Serum de Rose Yeux ($225) under his eyes before applying the brand's Backstage Face & Body Foundation in shade 0CR ($40) for light coverage. "After seeing Rami ’s Saint Laurent Tux I immediately knew that I needed to keep his look classic Rami: handsome leaving a cool vibe,” said makeup artist Marissa Machaco of the Best Actor winner’s Oscars beauty look. Machaco used the buzzy non-toxic brand Kosas Cosmetics—its hydrating Tinted Face Oil in shades 05 and 06 “to create a natural sun-kissed warmth” and its Kosasport LipFuel in Baseline, “which has been [Rami’s] trusted lip hydrator all award season” and will be available soon. For skincare prep, Rami received a facial from Beverly Hills esthetician Cynthia Franco before hitting the red carpet. Tom Ford actually has a whole range of cosmetics marketed toward men. From what we can tell, nothing about the ingredients makes these concealers and lip balms better suited to men’s skin, but the streamlined brown packaging does seem a little more compatible with male consumers concerned about that sort of thing. For Henry Golding’s SAG Awards look a lineup of Tom Ford men’s skincare and makeup was used including its Skin Revitalizing Concentrate ($155), Oil-Free Daily Moisturizer ($109), Anti-Fatigue Eye Treatment ($95), Bronzing Gel ($49), Concealer in Medium ($42), and Hydrating Lip Balm ($25). No wonder the dude looks so glowy. Another look that focused heavily on skincare was Topher Grace at this year’s SAG Awards. Groomer Kristin Heitkotter used Dior’s Hydra Life Pores Away Pink Clay Mask ($69) for three minutes to unclog the skin, then followed up with the brand's Capture Youth New Skin Effect Enzyme Solution ($65) to hydrate and prime his skin. Next she applied the brand’s Capture Youth Redness Soother Age-Delay Anti-Redness Soothing Serum ($95) to his T-Zone and topped him off with its Hydra Life Fresh Hydration Sorbet Creme ($69). As for makeup, Heitkotter used Dior’s Backstage Face & Body Foundation in 1N ($40) to even his skin tone and the Diorskin Forever Undercover Concealer in 021 Linen ($34). Kosas Cosmetics

Kosas has intrigued me for quite some time now, I love the back-story… L.A.-based artist, chemist and all-round cool girl Sheena Yaitanes created her makeup collection informed by colour theory. The range has ultra-flattering shades which are supposed to suit every skin tone and are enriched with botanical formulas…

I’ve heard glowing reviews about the Kosas cream blush and highlighter duos, lipsticks and most recently their 10-second liquid eyeshadows. Although if I’m being honest, I’ve heard quite a few mixed (and not so good) reviews about the LipFuel Hyaluronic LipBalm and the formula and application of their Tinted Face Oil.

I especially love the 10-second liquid eyeshadow in the shade ‘globe’, it’s the perfect shimmery finish and sounds really simple and quick to apply… you had me at hello 🙂

The story behind the brand is fascinating, the ingredients they use are fabulous and the packaging is so lovely!! I’d particularly love to try the Watermelon Glow face-mask.

Go-To Skincare

I’ve always loved the branding, packaging and marketing of Go-To Skincare, created by beauty guru Zoe Foster-Blake. I love the tongue-in-cheek names and descriptions of her collection and have read lots of glowing reviews. It’s also cruelty-free, natural and an A-beauty (Australian beauty) brand, so it really ticks all the boxes hehe. When I finish my current face oil, I think I’ll treat myself to ‘Face Hero’, but everything else looks amazing too hehe!

Nudestix

I discovered Nudestix through Instagram and now see it in one out of five beauty photos on Instagram. The creamy formulas sound nourishing and create a natural look which I love the sound of. I have my eye on their cream stick blush in the shade ‘cherry blossom babe’ and also was really hoping to get my hands on their collaboration with Estee Lalonde, but the cost of postage to Australia from Selfridges was extraordinary, what a shame! I honestly think the products are a bit on the pricey side considering the very small size of the products, but I am interested to try them haha. Do you think they’re worth the ‘hype’?
