#lisanna's return

Text
Season 1 Lisanna: The Return of the Queen, manages to (sometimes very literally) claw her way through multiple universes until she finally came back to her homeland after being bamf'd out by human warlocks unaware of the magics they were using. Tired, cruel, and sometimes will not wait for others to make a decision and will make her own choices immediately. Slaughtered the "noble" stewards that had shackled her people and ate out their swim bladders and hearts out of their corpses to send a message and reclaim her rightful throne. But was very happy to finally have made her way back home to her family, and could finally rest.
Tumblr media
Current Season Lisanna: Has calmed down since her reclamation, with her previous actions scaring any would-be usurpers from attempting to take her life. The matriarch figure of what her people are calling the "Coral Age", with daily life significantly improved under her rule and allowing for renewed expansion of the Abyssal Empire to reclaim ancient lands once under her rule. A benevolent ruler, with her husband as a strict but fair Emperor, and the timely return of the Prince Tal'um have bolstered faith in the kingdom and themselves. A lot more peaceful and amicable, with a cold but fair sense of justice when it comes to her rule.

Things I think would've been fascinating to include in fairy tail:
Heavier emphasis on organized religion
Specifically on how religious figures respond to demons, monsters, and magic.
Mirajane changing so much following the death of lisanna due to monster/demon magic being claimed as taboo by the church. Mirajane experiences so much guilt and the belief that it's her fault she becomes incredibly religious. How she unpacks it over the course of the story.
Celestial mages being acolytes of the church with the idea of Layla breaking off to marry Lucy's dad and her lineage stretching back to the first acolytes of the church.
Mavis leading a religious army after being manipulated by Zeref into believing she was a chosen of the gods, and her connection to the church/king allowing her to form fairy tail with financial support. The difference between what the guild was and what it currently is.
Juvia choosing to opt out of the S-class exam and instead focusing on self healing and growing out of her gray obsession. Her, Jet, and Droy bonding in their grief about Levy and Gajeel disappearing and Juvia herself seeking out old phantom lord friends to reconnect and inform of Gajeel.
Nab and Vijeeter getting proper characters and a focus on how their magic could be powerful and terrifying.
Building off of Mest existing, make a stealth group who speaks directly to Makarov taking missions he approves. They get sent on infiltration missions and are typically overlooked in fairy tail itself. They never take the s-class exam so their exact magical abilities never get publicized.
A longer gap in between the founding of fairy tail and the modern day so Mavis has more time to become a legend that few if any know the truth of.
Actual consequences for magic usage beyond just tapping out mana. Erza's armors all having unique drawbacks, natsu having to build up his tolerance to fire as a child and constantly underthreat of overheating and boiling his insides if he goes to far, etc.
Erza going on quests specifically to find unique armor sets that all have some historical meaning behind them that we as the audience get to hear about (connecting to a previous point, her heavens wheel armor being one of the remaining sets from Mavis' army)
Chapters from the POV of the guildmates left behind in-between the 7 year time skip to build up the excitement for the group return.
I know there are more but this is my list so far.

Btw Natsu didn’t “snap” last chapter. He called out to Lucy, it’s different. Snapping implies that he was mad or upset over Lucy’s actions, but I truly don’t think he was: he just noticed that she wasn’t fighting, and he knew she was needed in this fight, so he cried out for her.
I’m upset over people calling him angry, that he snapped and got mad and yelled at her. That’s literally not what happened: Natsu saying “Just shut your mouth for once!” With a dark, clearly very angry face, when she unknowingly talked about Lisanna before she returned from Edolas - that is him snapping.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(I could only find the scene on TikTok lol, credits go to @dailydragneel even if I edited it a bit)
Maybe it’s not that deep, but I feel like the nuances matter. There was nothing that indicated that Natsu was angry with Lucy, the “Lucy, please…” panel showed more that he felt helpless, knowing that their efforts didn’t seem to make a difference in the fight. So he called out for Lucy. (Here’s the panels so you can compare with the actual angry Natsu)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the hyq he looks upset and stressed, but I don’t think those emotions were aimed at her. Maybe I’m choosing to see it differently, but I think he’s upset and desperate in the situation, and that he’s raising his voice and straining himself because he’s in the middle of a fight.
Anyways that’s my two cents.
(Nice addition in the tags by @fleuve-des-etoiles )

Let's talk about Fairy Tail women.
A while ago I came across an ... interesting post that can be summarised as 'fanservice is bad and hence all the female characters are written badly'. I've seen a lot of takes alonge these lines.
I've said it a million times, I don't like the fanservice in fairy tail but claiming that the fanservice automatically makes the writing of the female characters bad is a very shallow way of looking at the story. The over sexualization of the female characters is only one criteria we should consider while discussing how female characters are handled in the story. Unfortunately most of the time that ends up being the only criteria. I also think a lot of the times this is used as an excuse to hate on the female characters in fairy tail.
So here are some of my reasons as to why I absolutely love the way fairy tail women are written.
Flipping the damsel in distress trope.
During the phantom lord arc Lucy is kidnapped and Natsu went out to save her. A very classic setting for the damsel in distress trope. What makes this moment different is Lucy, the princess stuck in a tower, decided to jump. That moment is so important for her character. Lucy chose to jump because the alternative was having to return home to her abusive father and she jumped because she knew Natsu would catch her. That scene both simultaneously showed the audiance how much Lucy dreaded going back to her father's house and how much faith she had in her guildmate. That scene wasn't there to show Natsu saving her, that moment was there to flesh out Lucy's character.
They Unfridged Lisanna.
Fridged girlfriend/wife is a trope where the female lover of the male protagonist is killed, sometimes even before the story begins and the sole purpose that female character serves is to be a source of angst for the male protagonist. Lisanna was almost that. But she was brought back. Even before that she wasn't just limited to being Natsu's source of angst. She was Mira and Elfman's sister. I don't particularly like Lisanna but she's alive and she's living her life with the people she loves. That will always be a positive thing.
Self sacrifice is bad actually.
A lot of times, especially for female characters self sacrifice is presented as a virtue. It's presented as a selfless noble thing. During tower of heaven arc, Erza learnt that that's wrong. she realised she's loved and wanted. She learnt that her life matters and the people who love her would be miserable without her and nothing good will come from her death. She learnt that self sacrifice will only lead to pain for everyone she loves.
Passing bechdel test in the most unexpected situations.
In case you don't know the criteria for passing the bechdel test are, two named female characters talking to each other about someone other than a man. This test is mainly for movies but we can apply it to tv shows, anime and manga by seeing how often it passes the bachdel test rather than if it passes it. Like how someone did for Doctor Who. (I am genuinely tempted to do this for fairy tail anime.)
Anyway getting to the point, you would think that's very easy to achieve and yet so many stories fail at it so very often. While this test is by no means a sure shot way of measuring how feminist something is, I do think a show with a lot of important female characters who have good relationship with one another will pass the bechdel test a lot more frequently compared to a show that doesn't.
Fairy tail passes the backdel test somewhat frequently, sometimes in unexpected ways.
At first we are lead to believe that Erza and Kagura are connected because of Jellal and Simon. So it's only natural that they will talk about those two men during their fight. And yet their fight during grand magic games passes the bechdel test. Because their relationship goes beyond those two men. Erza knew Kagura from their childhood and she wanted their relationship to be defined by that rather than anything else. Erza didn't tell Kagura how she should feel. She understood and respected Kagura's feeling. All she wanted was for Kagura see her as her own person. The reason why this scene managed to pass the bechdel test was because despite everything Erza and Kagura's relationship is not defined by the men in their lives.
Women with power
Time and time again fairy tail has portrayed women wielding immense power. Fairy tail has also portrayed women in position of power. Hisui didn't just remain a princess, she became a queen. Fairy tail was founded by a woman. Dragon Slayer magic was invented by a woman. Characters like Urtear and Brandish are unmatched in power. Powerful women in fairy tail feel powerful, they don't feel power for a woman or power despite being a woman, they feel powerful.
Future Lucy died in her own arms.
Future Lucy is a characters who went through unimaginable pain and suffering and ended up dying. But she died to protect her past self. She died in her own arms and made the past version of herself promise her that she will fight for their future. Even though we know that our Lucy is perfectly fine that scene hits like a truck. Natsu in that moment remembers how happy Lucy was when she got her guild mark. That's a painful memory in that moment because future Lucy has lost everything. She has lost her guild along with her guild mark. Natsu and everyone else there is sad and angry because future Lucy deserved to happy and that happiness was stolen from her. Even when it comes to showing Natsu's pain it's entirely selfless. Even after all the pain she went through in the end she was at peace and the story made sure we knew that. Future Lucy is one of the few characters who dies in fairy tail and like all the other deaths in fairy tail this too is meaningful. Fairy tail would never kill of a character, let alone a female character for shock value.
Power of friendship but like siriously.
From Erza and Mira's childhood rivery to Lucy and Brandish's current rivery, to Wendy and Chelia's relationship that's two steps away from blossoming into romance fairy tail has so many complex relationships between it's female characters. It is so hard to put into words. I absolutely adore the relationships fairy tail women have with each other. They are sweet, bitter, silly, loving and everything else that you could possibly imagine. While not all, most of their relationship are also build on their own without a male character being involved. What I mean by that very often we will see two female characters being friends because their boyfriends are friends or because they had a crush on the same guy but they put aside their differences or the girlfriend and sister of a male character becoming friends. Those examples exists in fairy tail too but they are just so rare. And because we have so many dynamics between the female characters those type of relationship don't stand out.

She and Gajeel, along with three other students, were tricked by a Death Eater named Jose Porla in their fourth year which led to them helping in the kidnapping of Lucy Heartfilia but when they realized that they had been tricked, they turned themselves in immediately which is the reason why they weren't expelled.
This led Juvia to meeting the Gryffindor Gray Fullbuster who she ended up falling in love with and eventually marrying.
She was a member of Makarov's Army where she ended up meeting the Hufflepuff Lisanna who had just started her first year after being held hostage for years, leading to a lifelong friendship.

Natsu Harem: Fairy GET! 3/14
Who next~...? Ah, yes. (人◕ω◕)
Tumblr media
A childhood sweetheart, Miss Lisanna Strauss. (人◕ω◕)
Tumblr media
When did they meet?
Among Fairy Tail's current generation, they all arrived at the guild in the mid- to late X770's. For the most part. Natsu arrived in X777, and the Strauss Siblings came to be part of the family in X778.
Whereas Natsu grew leery and terrified of Lisanna's older sister, he forged a special bond with Lisanna as kids. (人◕ω◕)
Tumblr media
Happy's egg fell from the sky, and Natsu found the thing, determined to hatch it, believing it to be a dragon egg. (人◕ω◕) Naturally, Lisanna-chan invited herself along to help care for it... And act as a sort of mommy to Happy when he did hatch. Happy might not have been the dragon Natsu wanted, but soon enough they all became one happy family~.... For the most part. (人◕ω◕) ... Lisanna-chan did get these weird ideas into her head sometimes, as noted by Natsu's reactions above.
As a young boy, Natsu didn't always appreciate Lisanna, at least on the surface. Yet even so, he did love her in his own way. She became a precious friend, much easier to get along with than that blockhead Stripper and pole-up-her-butt Erza. Sometimes they went out on jobs together. Sometimes they just camped out together with Gildarts and Happy.
Until that fateful mission for the Strauss Siblings... all was well. But when it did arrive, and Elfman lost control, he wound up... killing Lisanna. Or so they all thought. Elfman and Mirajane were both devastated as Lisanna died in their arms... Elfman resolving to never use his Takeover again - too scared of losing control. And Mira just... lost her powers. Relegated to being a barmaid and becoming a much kinder, gentler person that more openly treasured her friends and family in the guild.
Meanwhile the Earthland Lisanna was sent to Edolas, unbeknownst to everyone... The Edolas Lisanna had already died on a job, and that's who perished in Mira and Elfman's arms. But for the Lisanna that Natsu and everyone else knew... She was seemingly trapped in Edolas forever, no idea of how to get back. So Lisanna made the best of her situation, bonding with the Edolas Fairy Tail.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And then through a miracle, Lisanna-chan returned to Earthland with everyone after the Edolas debacle concluded. She hadn't seen her family and friends in Fairy Tail for a few years, and while she felt terrible about leaving her Edolas siblings without their sister... Lisanna was glad to be home. She was welcomed back with open arms... And soon enough the S-Class trials were upon them, then the Tenrou Island team missed out on seven years because of Fairy Sphere protecting them...
Tumblr media
When did they grow closer?
This is a little trickier question. (人◕ω◕) From X778-782 when Lisanna "died", she and Natsu became quite close. But then coming back in X784... she didn't get as much on-screen time with Natsu. In a subtle way, their friendship seemed to have taken a hit, at least with Lisanna not joining Team Natsu, not even on the occasional job.
... But I have my theories that despite what we were shown, Natsu and Lisanna's bond was as strong as ever. (人◕ω◕) Returning home after 2 years, Lisanna had a lot of catching up to do with everyone, especially her siblings... Team Natsu was always on to the next adventure, and Lisanna-chan couldn't focus on them exclusively... But even so~...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Natsu was still special to Lisanna. (人◕ω◕) She picked up on Erza's dancing habits, spinning Natsu around. And she remembered having ideas of marriage with Natsu, as evidenced by that moment during the Grand Magic Games~...
Tumblr media
... Not to mention that jail cell scene in Tartaros. (人◕ω◕) Natsu's only shared a cell with one other girl in Fairy Tail... But more on that one later.
The point I'm laboring toward is that despite what we see in the main series, there was plenty of room for Lisanna to come trodding back into Natsu's life at any point after returning. The S-Class trials did happen, and they were technically rivals then... But they had different opponents during that arc, and there was a lot going on. Then they missed out on seven more years. Once that blew over, I'm sure they shared some time together, whether or not Lisanna also spent time with Team Natsu.
At some point she must've found out that Natsu erected a grave for her at the spot they helped hatch Happy together in a hut... Lisanna might've felt bad for worrying him like that, for worrying everyone. But even so, she's not gonna let them treat her like glass. She's strong in her own right, and Lisanna wants to protect everyone, too~... So like her sister Mira, most of her time with Natsu is spent with him when he gets back from jobs, catching up with him and rekindling that bond of theirs~... It's not that hard. (人◕ω◕)
Tumblr media
When does friendship turn to something more?
The answer is anytime, really. (❋•‿•❋) However, if I had to take a stab at a more concrete time... I'd say when Igneel died. Remember what I said about making this series having fanfic in its veins...? Well, it begins to kick in now. One thing that's always rubbed me the wrong way about everyone splitting off after Tartaros is that some people never seemed to try harder to stay in touch with certain others. In this case... Lisanna and Natsu. Sure, Natsu had training on the brain... And Lisanna was there when Makarov disbanded the guild.
... But Lisanna knew the dragons perished. She knew how much Igneel meant to Natsu. Lisanna would have been among the first to track Natsu down and give him comfort. She was one of Natsu's first serious friends, and she wouldn't have wanted Natsu to be alone after losing the father he tried finding all of this time. Naturally, Natsu would be dragged along with the Strauss Siblings during this year-long guild hiatus. Because Lisanna-chan isn't the greedy type to hoard Natsu for herself. ... Unlike certain others. (❋•‿•❋)
Natsu, Lisanna, Elfman, and Mira could get strong together. Although Elfman miiight be a little defensive of the Dragon Slayer getting a little too intimate with his sisters. (❋•‿•❋) But it's not like he can say "no" to Lisanna, who wants to cuddle with her Pyro~... In this time together, he could hear about what the siblings went through during the Tartaros arc. While Natsu might punch Elfman or something to that effect for choking Lisanna, he'd know that it wasn't Elfman's fault, and the guy was feeling bad enough for all four of them, especially after he blew up the guildhall.
Natsu would also hear about Fairy Tail disbanding... And train that much harder so they could all come back together a year later. (❋•‿•❋) But in terms of him and Lisanna.... This year together is an excellent period for them to become a couple. They'd have Mira's blessing. ... And a little more, but we'll hear about Mira-chan later. (❋•‿•❋)
Even though Natsu's instincts are to protect Lisanna, he knows she's strong enough to stand on her own and have his back. Happy still views her as a Mommy, too. (❋•‿•❋) And after Alvarez blows over... Perhaps Lisanna-chan makes good on that childhood dream of tying the knot with her dense Pyro. \(❋•‿•❋)/ She does have to work that much harder to get him to understand romance, but I feel after a while Natsu would mature in his own way and roll with the dates and eventual marriage scene.
... Not to mention the eventual "mating like rabbits" scene. (❋•‿•❋) Lisanna is Mira-chan's darling sister, after all~... She's petite. But she also has L E G S~... \(❋•‿•❋)/

Paper Planes
Pairing: Juvia Lockser/Gray Fullbuster Characters: Juvia Lockser, Gray Fullbuster, Lisanna Strauss Summary: Gray comes back from a mission and resumes a tradition he and Juvia had before he left. Do not repost, claim to be your own work or use it without perrmission. Cross-posted on AO3
Juvia Lockser felt her heart pounding strong in her chest. She had been waiting for the day Gray Fullbuster would return from his mission for days. She couldn’t even tell how much she missed seeing him on the balcony in the apartment across hers every morning. She opened the front door of her own apartment and immediately glanced at the outside area of it, noticing there was something on the floor. As she walked towards it, she felt a pain through her heart, for not seeing him yet. Juvia bent down and picked up what seemed to be a yellow paper plane. She picked it up and opened it. Her heart began beating faster and faster as she unfolded the paper. She could barely control her smile while reading its content and ran to the edge of her balcony as soon as she finished. The smile on her face immediately faded when she realized there was no one around. That he wasn’t around. About two minutes later, when she returned inside, Gray walked out of where he had been hiding – and watching her – the whole time. He was holding a few colored papers in his left hand.
Hours later, Gray finally arrived at his house. He let himself fall on the couch and watched some TV. At some point, he glanced at the window and saw something outside it. He jumped out of the sofa, rushing to it. A smile appeared on his lips when he saw it was a paper plane. She had written one and threw it towards his apartment. Still smiling, he returned inside.
****
A few days had gone by and Juvia couldn’t help but feel a little upset because she didn’t get any other paper planes. But then again, she hasn’t sent any as well. She was making her way to a table at the bar when something came flying and landed on her seat. She immediately put her glass on the table and picked the light yellow paper plane, unfolding it right away. Her heart was full of love and she pressed the letter against her chest.
“Hey, Juvia.” Lisanna approached her, with a large smile on her face. “Is that a letter from a secret admirer?”
“It’s from my lovely Gray.” Juvia said excitedly and pressed the letter tighter against her chest, crushing the paper a little. “Juvia loves it very much.”
“I can tell.” The other woman smiled wider. “You really like him, dont you?”
“Juvia does!” She exclaimed and started looking around, searching for him. “I can’t find my Gray! He’s not here.”
“I saw him leaving. Maybe if you hurry, you can catch him.”
“Juvia is out.” She stormed out of the bar, desperately looking for the object of her affection.
Juvia looked all around herself when she walked outside, her heart pounding and aching at the mere thought of not finding her favorite person. Desperation taking over her, as well as the tears in her eyes, until another paper plane landed on her feet. Her heart beating even faster as she bent down and picked up. Her eyes were fixated on the light blue paper in her hands, but she could still see a pair of legs walking out from a house and stopping some meters away from her. She would recognize them anywhere. A large smile appeared on her face even before she locked eyes with him. She briefly felt breathless as she stared at his bare chest, which she adored.
“My lovely Gray! Juvia missed you so much!” She ran to him, closing their rather long distance. “Are you okay? Did you get hurt on this mission? You look so pale! Juvia will take care of you.”
“I’m fine.” He assured her. “It was an exhausting mission, but everything went fine. I’m here now.”
“Juvia is so happy!” She squealed, in complete bliss.
“So do you want to get it on?”
“Get it on?” She repeated, her cheeks blushing heavily and affection overwhelming her. And soon, she passed out.
“Juvia, are you okay?” Gray held her in his arms, shaking her lightly. “Juvia, wake up.”
The blue haired woman slowly opened her eyes and her whole face went red with their proximity. Never had she ever stayed so close to his chest before, let alone being held by him.
“Juvia is not fine.” She managed to say, despite all the feelings their proximity brought to her.
“You’re not gonna pass out again, are you?”
“No.” Though she felt like she could easily do it again, due to how inebriating his scent was. She wondered what it was of.
“So, you still haven’t answered my question.” He offered her his hand and they both stood up. Juvia couldn’t help but rejoice on the fact she was actually holding his hand. It felt so soft and warm. “Do you want to get it on?”
“Uh…Juviawouldloveto.” The words came out of her mouth altogether, due to how nervous she was with such offer.
“Sorry, I don’t think I heard you.” Gray said in a light tone, though deep down he did hear what she said.
“Juvia would love to.” She said it again, more slowly this time.
“Great.” He curled his fingers around her palm and brought both their hands down. “Also, you still haven’t read the last paper plane.”
“Oh.” Juvia looked down to the paper she was still holding in her right hand and let go of him to undo the plane. Her eyes went wide while she silently read it, and her cheeks blushed violently. “Gray.” She looked up at him. “Did you really mean that?”
“Of course I did.” He looked down at her. “All this time I was away made me think ‘why not’? And it felt good. It felt right.”
She looked at his hand stretched at her for a moment and then into his eyes again.
“So what do you say?”
A warm smile appeared on her lips as she took it. “I say that’s all I’ve ever wanted.”

Natsu, Lucy & The People Around
Remake(updated) of a wonderful post. Unfortunately they've deleted their blog so I couldn't link the main post, instead I'll just link the one I came across with. The original post was probably made prior to the final arc started, judging from the panels used. I'll be adding a lot to this. Let's dive in!
Natsu and Lucy are often called out for being more than best friends by people around them. Their strong connection has always been a highlight, regardless of friends and foes. It's completely natural at this point, it's not just about teasing for fun but what those people interprete Natsu and Lucy's actions towards each other as, what they perceive their connection to be.
The physical aspect of Natsu and Lucy's relationship has earned them the most teasing. Both have showcased clear attraction for each other, with Natsu expressing his desires with actions more often and Lucy being timid about it.
The emotional aspect is heavier though.
They're the centre of each other's attention. Ranging from the weirdest things on earth to his biggest accomplishments, Natsu wants Lucy to know everything about him. He'd bring her greasy food, a frog from Edolas, act like a child while showing her a dragon statue. Uproot an entire tree and flow it down the stream in front of her house. He'd remember the day she joined the guild, remember her favorite color, food and the names of her each spirit and the number of keys she has. In danger his first instinct is to quickly stand before her and make sure she's safe.
Lucy is no different. In any situation Natsu is her top priority. She'd risk her life and push herself to her limit to keep him safe, hold him back from doing anything reckless. She'd rush to catch him when he falls, carry him to the safety forgetting about all other people and all other things.
If one is in pain, the other notices first. Whenever Lucy feels down, Natsu instantly calms her down. Whether it's Lucy doubting herself, feeling sad or scared of anything, crying in pain for loss of someone, Natsu is always there for her. Vice-versa. when Igneel returns, Lucy notices Natsu's distress first. When he worries himself after his sudden transformation against Animus, it's Lucy who comforts him.
They hang out with each other all the time with Natsu openly stating that he loves Lucy's smell and her house. Lucy adores his company too, feels obligated to do jobs with him. They both lean towards each other a lot.
There's a lot of eye-contact and physical contact between Natsu and Lucy, regardless of place. To the point where they can't distinguish between casual talk and flirtation. Looking at each other with flirty eyes, Natsu resting his arm above Lucy's shoulder, laying his head on her lap while nauseous or the other way around, holding her hand to drag her with him to anywhere, warm forehead touches are their language.
They take care of each other outside of physically protecting them, in more than one way. If one is sick, the other sits at their bedside to look after them. Natsu gets Lucy something interesting to write for her story, he picks up jobs on time so her rent isn't due. He shows her stars to make her happy. Lucy lets Natsu sleep in her bed, she takes care of the scarf he cherishes so much, she treats him to meals often and shares her own.
Lucy mirrors Natsu's actions from time to time. She often acts like him. Does soap surfing, draws on his face the way he draws on hers, teases him. She uses his catchphrase too.
All of this doesn't simply go unnoticed by other people, especially those who are close to Natsu and Lucy. They know both of them inside out, hence their remarks are sometimes indication towards what isn't explicitly exposed to us readers.
Starting off with Natsu's family :
Happy and Zeref
Tumblr media
Happy has teased Lucy about Loke and Gray (filler), and Natsu about Lisanna (filler) before. When Loke confessed his feelings for Lucy during the Bixlow fight, Happy teased them. I think it's pretty natural, as well as when Gray followed Lucy home to make sure her safety and Happy said he liked Lucy.
In the childhood flashback, Lisanna was pretty vocal about her feelings, that's why her and Natsu were teased by little Happy.
However, he never continued them.
Interesting thing to note that, Happy can differentiate between romantic love and platonic love. He has only ever teased people about their possible love interests. He never joked about Natsu and Erza, despite knowing how close they are, yet he made fun of her and Jellal's almost kiss.
Back to Natsu and Lucy! From some unknown point in the story, Happy only called out Natsu and Lucy for liking each other. Whether it's the physical or the emotional side, Happy never missed to point out anything. In the 100yq, when Natsu and Lucy find themselves into a compromising position again, Happy remarks about how it's not the first time.
Happy's viewpoint matters because not only he's Natsu's best buddy, but also he's very close to Lucy, individually. He has spent a fair share of time with her without Natsu being involved, hence his take on their relationship is significant.
Next is Zeref.
Tumblr media
Whilst mentioning the people who are close to Natsu, Zeref emphasized on Lucy the most, even more than Happy who has spent all his life with Natsu. As a matter of fact it was roughly only two years since Natsu and Lucy had met, yet she was said to have already made a great impact on Natsu's upbringing.
At that point, Zeref was aware of everything revolving Natsu since it was one of his battle strategies. Intelligence of the enemy, is what he mentioned to Gray. His comment about Lucy wasn't made out of nowhere, in fact it was what he perceived after his study about Natsu.
I don't need to explain why Zeref's point of view matters. He's Natsu's brother and the one who had created him all those years ago and handed him over to Igneel.
Teammates
Tumblr media
Erza once remarked that Natsu can always be found in Lucy's apartment. During the christmas party at Lucy's place, when Lucy got all drunk and flirty with Natsu, Erza paralleled them with the other two canon ships and referred to them as a couple.
In Dragon Cry movie, Natsu asked Lucy how he looked like to her all the while being mere inches apart from her face, Wendy assumed that the two were having romance.
Their outlook matters a lot. Besides each other and Happy, Gray, Erza, Wendy are the closest to Natsu and Lucy. Their perception on the topic is one of the most reliable ones.
The Strauss Sisters
Tumblr media
Although Mirajane thinking that Natsu and Lucy were dating was for the tease since the next time she guesses the same for Gray and Lucy, she definitely approves the idea of them together.
In earlier days, she got hold of the keys to Lucy's apartment and gave them to Natsu because he loves spending his time at Lucy's. When asked about who the guys wanted to peek on in onsen, Mirajane assumed that Natsu had been there for Lucy. In response to Lucy's denial, she reminded her of the times Natsu had seen her naked.
Now, Lisanna. The most important among the two.
After only a few days of Lisanna's return, even though she didn't get to know Lucy properly, she quickly realised that Lucy is an integral part of Natsu's life. Even in that short amount of time, Natsu and Lucy's strong bond was visible to her.
Lisanna telling Happy to stick by Natsu's side would make more sense, since Happy is Natsu's best friend and she's closer to him than Lucy. But Lisanna chose to tell Lucy only, to stay close to Natsu instead of mentioning all.
Her perspective does hold importance, she was once very close to Natsu. She might not have gotten much time after her return, however she still knows him more than any average guildmate and her judgement about Lucy was made on that basis.
Guildmates and Friends
Tumblr media
Natsu became attached to Lucy within a very short time. She had a great impact on his life from a very early point on. Levy's statement further added to that claim. It might not have been said to imply something romantic between them, it still served the purpose of gradual development.
While Cana teased Lucy about Natsu groping her, she brought up the physical aspect of Natsu and Lucy's relationship. Then in 100yq, she also tries to provoke Lucy to make a move on Natsu. With that, she implies that Natsu and Lucy are more than just friends.
Juvia being the love-struck girl she is, imagined Natsu and Lucy as lovers and they were paralled with two other canon ships from her point of view. In 100yq, she mentions Touka as Lucy's love rival, depicting Lucy's romantic feelings for Natsu. Even Gajeel hinted at Natsu having a crush on Lucy, since he had liked Anna back then.
Tumblr media
Asuka also thought that Natsu and Lucy were dating each other and their bond was similar to her parents'. It only server to prove that there is more to Natsu and Lucy's relationship than plain friendship.
Evergreen as well as Brandish commented about Lucy being in love with Natsu. Porlyusica also opted for Lucy to warm up Natsu's body, instead of simply asking anyone else.
All of these people clearly understand what Natsu and Lucy are to each other, and what they see between the two is more often than not deemed as outright romantic by the same people.
Tumblr media
Virgo and Aquarius, both have witnessed Lucy's bond with Natsu grow gradually since the beginning. Virgo assumed the two were a couple and brought matching dresses for them. Whilst in 100yq, Aquarius emphasized on Natsu's significance in Lucy's life to bring her back to her senses.
Tumblr media
Edolas-Lucy naturally assumed that the earthland counter-parts are also romantically involved.
Overall, Natsu and Lucy as a couple have all the support from their near and dear ones. Natsu's family, his best friend, Lucy's spirits and her edo-counterpart, their teammates and friends, little Asuka- almost all of them agree on one thing and that is : there's a romantic tension between Natsu and Lucy, and it would be totally natural for them to end up together.
The enemies too have talked about that :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The common point of view is one type of confirmation to us readers, that there's more to what we're told about Natsu and Lucy's bond.

nano | day 29
words: 1,901/1,667
notes: surprise bitch. bet you thought you'd seen the last of me. well you can't get rid of me that easy because i wanted to get the final two badges on the nanowrimo website so here we are to give me a break from the main story, i wrote a smutty spinoff that takes place after the fic. maybe i'll finish and clean it up and turn it into a real chapter i will post separately, or at the very least, that i will share in the discord server. it was mostly just a reward for finishing and a well earned return to smut that wasn't the only thing i worked on tho! i said i would do my gift exchange fic but i lied. this morning a conversation about the latest chapter devolved into the potential for a fic where natsu and lucy have to duke it out during an s-class trial and i wasn't going to not write it. after the gift exchange i think this might be my next big oneshot! that was not the last of what i wrote today--a month or so ago i came up with an idea for another multichap fic where natsu gets amnesia and completely forgets everything from well before lucy joined the guild and it's just a horrible hurt/comfort explosion that i think will be my next multichap after the fake dating one. i just had this vivid image in my head of him talking to lisanna and hearing what she has to say about lucy and i had to write it down. i'm really excited for it, i think it has a lot of potential and i know that it won't be for a lot of people but i hope at least one person will enjoy it
quote: Natsu hadn’t shut up about the damn trial since it was announced. His first year participating not as a contender, but as an S-class mage himself. Had that not been enough to get him going, this year was Lucy’s first year in the running. Going up against Natsu was one thing, going up against her boyfriend was another.

juvia and lisanna headcanons pt. 1
this is for the anon whose ask I keep messing up... I feel like I just scared away a stray cat😭😭
♡ when edolas juvia joins edolas fairy tail, lisanna is relieved. it's difficult for her to keep up appearances and maintain relationships with edolas fairy tail when... she has no idea what edolas lisanna was like. so a new face means that she can drop the act and be herself, at least for a little bit. edolas juvia is confident and sure of herself. she's a bit of a lone wolf in edolas fairy tail, and lisanna never really gets close to her as a result. lisanna considers it a loss, until she's back in earthland and realizes that juvia is one of the only people she can talk to normally.
♡ lisanna is more distant from her old friends, for different reasons. natsu and erza are so widlly different from their edolas counterparts, and they're also not kids anymore. lisanna doesn't know how close they are or what the future holds for their relationship. what she does know is she misses lucy ashley. she was the closest thing lisanna had to a friend (with how much she pretended in front of everyone), and lisanna knows that lucy heartfilia is not her lucy ashley.
♡ lisanna feels a little bit bad about avoiding her family, but it's so difficult. just when lisanna was getting used to her role in edolas, just when she thought she could live out the rest of her life there and be happy, everything flipped topsy turvy. lisanna's relearning her life and who she is all over again, and to say she's not happy is an understatement.
♡ sometimes lisanna feels like she's seeing double. mirajane asks her what she wants at the bar, and suddenly she's back in edolas fairy tail's vine-covered guild hall. then natsu throws a table at gray, and lisanna remembers that she's back in earthland. she tries not to let it show, but her siblings can tell. they talk about her troubles, and though lisanna doesn't see any way to fix it, she appreciates that she can speak more freely now.
♡ lisanna wonders if she's ever going to have a normal relationship with someone when a lacrima goes off in her head. edolas juvia never treated lisanna with more than common courtesy, so it's not like they had much of a relationship. and... earthland juvia wasn't there when lisanna... disappeared. she doesn't look at lisanna with the same sadness that natsu or erza do. she doesn't try to coddle her the way her siblings do. in fact, juvia hasn't paid her much attention at all, and lisanna will take that over her friends' pitiful expressions.
♡ lisanna forms a habit of sitting at the bar, observing her guildmates. it's a good people study, and she gets to catch up on the past few years with her sister. mira is one of the few people that handles lisanna's return with grace, and lisanna is forever grateful for it. in her people watching, lisanna notices that juvia is a bit of a loner. when she's at the guild hall (not very often), she really only talks to gajeel. and she avoids gray like the plague. lisanna, not for the first time, wonders what she missed.
♡ their first interaction is at the job board. their hands knock together, and lisanna knows an opportunity when she sees one. "do you wanna... do the job together?" "you... want to team up... with juvia?" juvia's bewilderment makes lisanna wonder if she's offended the other somehow. juvia doesn't protest much though, and lisanna feels giddy as they walk out of the guild hall. she ignores the looks of concern her old friends send her every time she leaves for a job. she's not a child, and she can handle herself.
♡ juvia, as it turns out, is a riot. lisanna's giggling the entire time. juvia is a bit awkward and blunt, but she's earnest. her spooky comments and bone-chilling jokes paired with a deadpan expression send lisanna into a laughing fit. juvia is genuinely curious about her, too, and lisanna finds that she hasn't had this much fun talking to someone in years.
♡ the other thing that hooks her is that juvia doesn't bat an eye when she brings out her darker side. lisanna claws someone's eye out in her leopard take-over? juvia shoots her a thumbs up as she cuts a dark mage to pieces with her water slicer. they're a deadly and efficient team, and dark guilds don't stand a chance.
♡ lisanna returns to the guild feeling lighter than ever, and it doesn't go away. she spends more and more time with juvia, going out shopping, kicking ass on missions, gossiping about drama in the guild world. lisanna's smile is brighter, her heart fuller, and she thinks that maybe, just maybe, her life in earthland won't be so bad.

Hi not a request (sorry if it sounds like one) I was wondering An (hope it’s ok I call you that) , I’ve been rewatching Fairy tail and I was wondering who do you think would be the best and the worst for a poly relationship for sharing a darling?
I think the best would be Natsu and Lucy since there trust each other completely and get along well that and there balanced each other out with them being best friends and all (Depending how the 100 year request is going ; hopefully there tie the knot XD)
Worst poly by sharing a darling , my opinion would be Mard geer and kyouka , I don’t think the reader would ever catch a break , especially with Mard geer thin patient and Kyouka sadist ways . (I’m pretty sure Mard Geer would be pulling the shots since he did tie up Kyouka by using his curse magic🤔 just cause she upset him)
Love to hear your thoughts ^-^
also if your looking for a show to watch or read I suggest Eden’s zero or dead rock (it’s really good so far 💗)
That's an interesting question so here are a few of my thoughts. I didn't include all options or otherwise I could have gone on for a longer while.
The best:
Natsu and Lucy: I think you nailed it already pretty well with those two, although I think the entire team (Natsu, Lucy, Erza, Gray, (platonic or not) Wendy) could work together. I do think that those two would be the best pairing since they would make the least troubles for their darling and work really well together. Both are delusional and clingy but Lucy would be the one to respect it if their darling requests privacy even if reluctantly since she knows firsthand that Natsu has a lack of respect for privacy. I also think that Natsu and Lucy would see all the time eye to eye and talk together and decide together about everything involving their darling. Obviously Erza and Gray would work with those two well too but I do think that the rivalry between Natsu and Gray can be a bit tiring, not to mention that Gray is possessive, protective and low-key paranoid about darling and their safety. Erza on the other hand, whilst highly respecting and appreciating her friends, tends to scare people when someone ruins her time with her darling or upsets them. She gets occasionally scary for silly reasons. Considering that the boys are very obviously scared of her when she gets mad, I also think there wouldn't be all the time equal footing. Wendy is a sweetheart but a bit too gullible and naive, hence why Carla is there for her.
The Strauss siblings: Mirajane, Elfman and Lisanna would definitely go well together and work well together since all three of them are very close to each other and have a lot of love for their darling to spare. Mirajane is the oldest sibling and despite her kind and sweet appearance, she is just about enough mature and strict to put a foot down which isn't bad considering that Elfman and Lisanna tend to be more, maybe a bit too, forgiving and lenient. Especially Elfman is down bad for his s/o.
Alzack and Bisca: They're literally already a married couple and very sweet to each other so a third person that they adore would fit in very much. They'd probably be really shy and timid in the beginning before getting more comfortable and affectionate with time around their s/o.
Maybe also Gajeel and Levy since I do think they balance each other out well enough. Levy is more openly tender-hearted and understanding which would help to smooth out Gajeel's possessive side and his cocky pride at times. She isn't afraid to call him out and lecture him.
Potential candidates (with some issues to work through):
Gray and Juvia: It could work but I do feel like Juvia's excessive obsession and jealous streak would cause some issues, not to mention that I can't help but feel like her extreme behavior might have a bad effect and Gray who in return would also turn slightly more unhinged. You definitely don't want an unhinged Gray.
Erza and Jellal: They're childhood friends and I don't think that Erza would ever intimidate and scare Jellal like she would do with Gray and Natsu, he can even calm her down fairly well. The main issue is mainly that Jellal has isolated himself out of vengeance and that means there would be a lot of time where darling would just spend time with Erza.
Lucy and Loke: Those two could definitely share a darling too but Loke's antics in here are a problem and less the fact that he's a Celestial Spirit since he has the ability to enter the human realm without Lucy calling upon him. He's a tad bit too mischievious.
Thunder God Tribe + Laxus: This would be so chaotic because I feel like Evergreen and Fried would be so sickenly sweet, jealous and obsessed with their darling. Bickslow is in comparison to those two the sanest one and even that doesn't have to mean much. With Laxus there would at least be a bit more control and order but who knows how long that can last. They're a very active and energetic bunch for sure with Laxus the only pillar holding them somewhat together.
Sting and Rogue are really troublesome but I do think lots of people would expect them to work really well together. They could for sure share a darling but it wouldn't be as harmonious because Sting is really possessive and whilst definitely willing to die for his s/o, also a rather controlling individual who would persuade Rogue, who feels guilty for his obsession which makes him mentally more prone to Sting's manipulation, into convincing you into following a rather strict lifestyle created by them. That may or may not include restrictions where you can go, when you can go and with whom you can go and punishment if you break those rules. Believe me, they always find out.
The worst:
Mard Geer and Kyoka: Bold of you to assume that Mard Geer would share with anyone at all. He views his darling as his property and would never share so the only reason why Kyoka wouldn't be instantly murdered is because she's a member of Tartaros and even then she'd be forbidden to ever go near his s/o. Kyoka could probably only somewhat share with Seilah and that would be the furthest thing from a healthy and happy relationship. Mard Geer is the leader though and that's probably the only reason why Kyoka wouldn't brutally torture him and hurt him for falling in love with the same person as her.
Any poly!relationship with Minerva before her change of heart would spell a catastrophe too since she'd be so sadistic, not only to her darling but also whoever dares to fall in love with her darling. She'd at best tolerate that person but only if they're strong enough to be worthy in her opinion.
I can definitely see the members of the Oración Seis (Midnight, Cobra, Angel, Racer) being at one point one of the worst to share a darling too. All of them wouldn't be too fond to share a darling to begin with, Cobra is probably the nicest one about it because he's actually interested in sincerely caring for darling's health and well-being. Midnight on the other hand is sadistic and possessive, Angel is obsessive and sadistic and Racer, whilst initially appearing to be rather chill, is not all that nice after all either. The peak worst phase would be after the timeskip in my opinion where all of them have traded something in order for greater power which makes all of them only more unhinged, possessive and to a certain degree even more desperate.

the episode after the edolas arc where they are back in the guild celebrating Lisanna's return and Lucy and Lisanna just stand together watching the fight and turn and smile at each other so fucking softly like ??? i'm glad i wasn't around fandom wise when there were arguments about these two because they are both so soft and sweet and deserve friendship between them. i need more friendship content between these two.

I think a lot about Lisanna man. Mashima never let her be a person. She was always existing based on her relationship to others and it drives me insane.
She's either the younger sister of Elfman and Mirajane, the former childhood friend of natsu and potiential first love, or in the case of fandom she's an extra character to be shipped with someone to get her out of the way of the ship they like.
She had such high potential to be cool. But I think mashima was aware of fan backlash when she reappeared so he ultimately did nothing with her.
Lisanna spent years in edolas, incapable of using her magic and thus having to learn practical skills. Give us lisanna training to fight traditionally without the use of boosts or bonuses. Give us lisanna taking up mundane hobbies most mages don't involve themselves with unless it's related to their magic. A lisanna who's confident and cool under pressure due to constant attacks.
Lisanna who got physically stronger and more capable while she was gone who returns different but happy.
And more than that show us her forming friendships with people, have her actively befriend Lucy and showcase who she is as a person.

her time in edolas changed lisanna.
part of the lisanna of Before can be seen in mirajane, for she unintentionally adopted her “dead” sister’s mannerisms and personality in her grief. another part of the lisanna of Before can be seen in elfman, for he unintentionally adopted his “dead” sister’s likes and dislikes in his grief.
the painful side effects of being a take over mage.
it took the siblings a little bit to notice the differences of lisanna. they were so focused on her being back and her being basically the same as Before that they were more blind to the changes compared to others.
part of the lisanna of After can be seen in mirajane and elfman’s personalities. edolas was more dangerous than earthland, and being all sunshine and smiles would not save you from erza knighwalker. the lisanna of After is fiercely protective and can give “motivational” speeches that can be boiled down to “we’re the fucking boss, now let’s kick some ass”, which would only sometimes work on the fairy tail of edolas.
cana and natsu, the two closest to the lisanna of Before, noticed the changes almost immediately.
natsu noticed in edolas. its why he figured that that was lisanna of edolas and not his lisanna. he ignored the voice in his head saying ‘sister, sister, sister’. he ignored how she smelled so like the strauss siblings of earthland and comparatively so little like the strauss siblings of edolas. he ignored how he could taste sadness and realization and longing on her after she spotted him.
cana noticed after the initial joy of her friend “returning from the dead”. it was when they were describing edolas to most of the guildmates that she noticed that lisanna kept darting her eyes around, kept reaching for something on her thigh before hesitating and pulling her hand away, kept looking at cana like she was strangely familiar. it was later that night, when she was alone in her room in fairy hills, that cana did a tarot reading about her dearest old friend.
cana knows more about the lisanna of After than most people. she understands, to an extent, being around people you should know like close friends and yet only remember as a distant relative. she understands expecting to see someone else when turning around to talk. she understands being confused and out of the loop, but just smiling and nodding along like you knew what was happening.
the lisanna of Before and the lisanna of After are as different as dawn and dusk. they are so very similar, but once you notice the changes, you can never ignore them. mira and elfman are just happy their little sister is here again, and have yet to notice many changes. natsu is glad to see an old friend, but has noticed enough that he thinks they could never be as close as they were before. cana sees them all and tries to get to know the lisanna of After. it is the closest they have ever been.

Something was wrong with Natsu.
Lucy couldn’t put her finger on it, but the change was obvious. Her enjoyment with Mirajane’s siblings had left her feeling giddy even hours after when the Draconis took her home that night. His footsteps stayed diligent beside her, a steady familiar pace that kept in time with her as they walked, the taps of her cane filling the silent air between them. His dark eyes would sweep over her, checking on her knee with each step she took down the beaten path. These actions were normal and Lucy half expected him to sweep her into his arms to carry her the rest of the way when she lightly stumbled on a stray stone in the path.
But he never did.
Instead, once her balance was secured, he released her shoulders as if he’d been scalded by intense heat and the space between them filled the air with a chill far colder than the surrounding night. It left an emptiness stirring in her gut. One that refused to fill from idle chatter. A strange discomfort that set alarm bells into her mind. A warning Lucy couldn’t quite name.
Natsu left Lucy at her doorstep after a quick exchange of goodbyes and a promise to see her in the morning. It was familiar, the same piece in the comfortable pattern that had formed over her months living here. And yet, Lucy thought with a furrowed brow, his smile hadn't met his eyes when he left. She watched the outline of his slumped shoulders until he rounded a corner, no longer to be seen.
Only her thoughts kept her company as she slipped inside, Lucy convinced herself it was a fluke. It had to be. She was imagining things.
Natsu was the same as ever, obviously. She wanted to be independent, after all. No, she needed to be independent, and how could she if she expected him to carry her every time she stumbled on a stray pebble? Yes, that’s all it was. Nothing more. Her mind was getting ahead of her again. Everything was fine. With that decided, Lucy swept the strange feelings aside, buried in the back of her mind to be forgotten and nestled herself beneath her many furs to prepare for sleep.
It wasn’t her imagination.
He was back in the morning as usual, dropping off items for breakfast before darting off to start his rounds for the day. The space between them was wider than before and Lucy didn’t miss the way he froze and withdrew his hands before she touched them. Natsu’s smile was natural, his laugh the same and even his jokes landed as usual, but the distance… He hadn’t given her so much since she’d given him the chance to be her friend. Perhaps, she told herself while nibbling on a hard-baked biscuit, trying to fill the emptiness in her stomach that had returned, he was in a hurry? Yes. She must have misunderstood again. There was no other explanation.
Throughout the day she witnessed his arm slung over the others: Lisanna, Romeo, Wendy - and he never shied from a slap to his shoulder from Gray or Elfman. Even Freed had earned a slap to the back when something was said to leave Natsu roaring in laughter. (And the look on Freed’s face, while hard to truly decipher in Lucy’s position, had pulled a giggle from her as well.) On and on she noticed the little touches, the space closed between himself and the rest of the clan. Never once did he shy away from being close -or even too close some would say- with everyone. His care and indifference towards personal space was everywhere.
And then he’d sit beside her, chair sliding a couple feet away in a not-so-subtle attempt to create space, carving a distance between them that only she could see. He gave her the same smile, the same questions: Asked her about her day, what her plans were, perhaps he’d join her for a bit before darting off again for some odd errand or two.
“Erza and Freed are going to be re-checking his rune barrier later.” He explained once, narrowed eyes glancing back towards the old ruin their makeshift dungeon resided in, “I was asked to watch the exit while they’re busy.” Not for the first time, Lucy felt knots form in her stomach at the mention of Kage. The churning caused a wave of nausea to rise in her throat, but was quickly dispelled.
He was alive and well, as far as she knew, but his existence was the one dark mark on an otherwise enjoyable time. Natsu sensed her unease and motioned to nudge her shoulder with his, an action he’d performed many times before to pull her from sinking too deep in her thoughts. But the expected heavy warmth never came. The sudden disappointment washed over her when he made no contact, withdrawing a second later, left Lucy confused. She was drowning in it. Whether Natsu noticed or not, he gave no hints, turning to fiddle with the straps of his sandals as if nothing had occurred.
Lucy desperately tried to ignore the hurt that flashed through her chest. Was it hard to breathe suddenly or just her?
“Anyways, once that’s done,” Natsu continued, finally facing her again with something unnamed glittering in his eyes, it made Lucy’s heart tighten, “I can come see ya’ again. It’s gettin’ warmer so you’re going to be busy getting thinner clothes right?”
“Yes.” Lucy monotoned. She had the strange sensation of going through the motions, forcing a smile across her face all while her mind jumped wildly from panicked thought to thought. Had she done something? In a second of insanity, she almost tilted her head to subtly smell herself. Did she need a bath, perhaps?
No, that couldn’t be it. None of this made sense, but finding the words to ask Natsu why he wouldn’t touch her was harder than one might think. The mere thought of how she could word herself made her cheeks warm with an intense heat. It sounded so - … she pushed the thoughts further aside. Definitely not. She didn’t need to make things more awkward than they already were, right?
When he left with a quick wave of his hand and a light grin, not even a familiar pat to her shoulder, Lucy knew she wasn’t crazy. Something was off, but what?
Days slipped by and Natsu’s odd behavior continued. Lucy spent them being fitted for new outfits with Mirajane and lending her ear as the woman flitted about her, learning from whatever topic that graced Mirajane's mind as she took Lucy's measurements or tested fabric colors to suit her.  She assisted with the daily chores wherever possible, and oftentimes found herself enjoying time with Levy and her books when she made the trek out to the archive. Lisanna became a mischievous presence in her schedule, whisking her away for more dance practice always with a new step for Lucy to learn. Her days filled up until she felt as if there was hardly a moment for herself and before she knew it, another month had passed. Her leg, still sore, could carry her much farther than before. On a good day, the cane could be left behind unless she spent too long standing.
By the time Spring’s first blooms sprouted, Lucy felt as if she’d fallen into a schedule that reminded her of home. But Natsu’s unwillingness to lay even a finger on her was a festering issue that boiled beneath the surface and sleep was becoming difficult.
The dreams that plagued her night and day persisted and some nights, Lucy thought she woke to Natsu gently bringing her back to the waking world, only to glance about her room and find it empty and dark circles surrounded his eyes for many mornings after. It made Lucy wonder if he also suffered from more nightmares.
“Nightmares? Nah, I’m good, Lucy, don’t worry about me!”
Somehow, Lucy wasn’t sure she believed him. When his words were diffused by an open-mouthed yawn revealing all his teeth, her disbelief was sealed. He was hiding something.
When she asked, it was met with his usual fanged grin, waving her off as he took down more targets with practiced ease during his training.
“If you say so.” She waved him off, a hint of a frown pulled at the edges of her lips, “But.. you know…  if you are having them, you can tell me, right?”
As if sensing the serious tone she carefully hid in her voice, he paused to look at her. Really staring as if attempting to read her mind. “Yeah, of course.” Lucy almost missed when he mumbled a quick, ‘you too’ before he resumed practice.
Another week passed with no changes.
And soon, a week became many until the first blooms of spring were sprouting on the trees and all sight of snow and frost had long dispersed, sinking into the soft earth to feed the grass poking through. Lucy had almost convinced herself that whatever was going on with Natsu, he’d come to her with it in time, but she couldn’t avoid the thought that perhaps she had done something. If he wasn’t willing to say, she would respect the decision. All the while ignoring the way it ate her from the inside out.
The Celebration was closing in and Lucy could see evidence of that fact all around the village. Banners and streamers were slowly being made and placed upon every lamp post, hanging over the walkways. The docks were busy with overfishing to prepare for a future feast and new clothes were being made or tested by the many denizens of the town, stepping out to face the day with colors and patterns that rivaled the returning nature. Lucy was not outside of this. The day Mirajane finished one (Lucy balked at the knowledge there was more) of Lucy’s new dresses, she’d been made to try it on immediately. Its flowing skirt and bodice fit snugly along her frame. Lucy had to admit, she loved the change and the knowledge that unlike her previous outfits: this was made for her.
Unfortunately the skirts were long and it made walking the trek to Porylusica’s difficult as its path was covered in gravel that shifted despite every careful step. Natsu did not join her that day, placed on an extra shift for hunting and surveying the surrounding woods. Wendy, though she tutted about Lucy the best she could, was not strong enough to balance her when she stumbled, opting to dash ahead and knock away every loose rock she could find instead. It was amusing to watch, the steely look of determination on her young face and skirt bunched her fists as she swiftly kicked away any stony obstacles from her path, but Lucy worried her lip in mild frustration at the need of it.
She cursed her slow healing for the umpteenth time. The cane had become an extra limb for her, but Lucy still wished for the times she didn’t need it, to walk as freely as she used to. Perhaps someday soon, she could put it to the side for uses only on bad days.
“I hope, for your sake, you took a break on the way here.” The acerbic healer made no attempt at pleasantries when Lucy finally stepped into her isolated home. The walk was more strenuous than visiting Levy’s archive and the sting of Lucy’s calves shot through her nerves to tingle at the edges of her eyes.
Wendy wasted no time in pushing a chair from the corner towards Lucy, silently offering her a place to rest. “We did.” She chirped, glancing back and forth between the two with a nervous apprehension. “But we couldn’t take too many or it would have taken too long.”
Porlyusica fixed them with an intolerant stare, arms crossed as she blew an errant strand of gray hair off her stony face. “If that is what was needed, then that is what should be done. If it's lunch and dinner you’re worried about, I have plenty of food to set you right while we work.”
“But- “ Wendy began, eyes sliding to the window where the sun was starting to make its descent, “You don’t like when visitors stay too long.”
“I’ll put up with whatever is necessary.” The doctor snapped. At Wendy and Lucy’s flinch, she rubbed the bridge of her nose and sighed. “No matter. You seem in good enough shape to me, regardless. Don’t move and I’ll get started.”
Lucy nodded vigorously, far too nervous to speak out against the woman’s tenacity. Wendy’s shoulders relaxed  once the attention was drawn from her and tutted about the small space, gathering cups and a kettle, judiciously starting up a pot of tea in an attempt to stay busy. The older woman knelt with ease, hands grasping Lucy’s leg with a surprisingly gentle touch as she inspected the from back to front, gnarled knuckles brushing along the sensitive skin. A scar had formed over the months that resembled a small star: a grim reminder of the arrow tip that once pierced her.
“It is a good sign you could make it here.” Porylusica mumbled beneath her breath, before Lucy could respond, she raised a hand to silence her, shaking her head. “Let an old woman mutter to herself in peace.”
She clamped her mouth shut, staying silent.
No sounds were uttered aside from Wendy’s shuffling about as the gentle scents of tea wafted through the small room and Porlyusica rambling beneath her. She struck below the kneecap to test the reflexes, nodding when Lucy’s entire leg jumped in response and after bending the leg in and out, she checked for any change of expression on Lucy’s face, expression grim and focused.
“Good. She’s not needing it as much. A good sign. Now.” A cup of tea was pressed before Lucy’s nose and she furrowed her brow as Wendy muttered a quiet apology. Taking a sip of the heated brew, she fought the urge to chew her own lip. Couldn’t the grouchy woman ask her directly? Why does she only acknowledge Wendy?
“She’s been taking numbing tea?” She asked.
A sudden, tight grip on her leg brought Lucy’s attention back to the older woman, eyes stinging from the shock of pain while the tea scalded her throat. “I asked you a question, girl. Did you not hear me?”
The room seemed to rumble with a sudden wind as Lucy flushed, Wendy’s eyes suddenly growing sharp. “Aunt Porly, be gentle! You know a non-draconis isn’t as sturdy as us!"
Wait a minute - Lucy’s mind reeled at the new information she gleaned, but before she could compute it, the grip had eased against her as Porlyusica tsked, patting the attacked portion of flesh in an attempt to apologize.
Wendy’s answer was immediate, “I haven’t had to replenish it this week.”
Shaking her head, she rumbled a non verbal reply to Wendy and fixed Lucy with a curious expression. “A doctor I might be, but social cues still escape me. Well then, girl, do tell me. Have you attempted to learn about the block on your abilities? You’ve made tremendous steps in your healing, but the knee is still taking far longer than it should to catch up with you.”
The memory of her first, lucid moment in the village struck Lucy as she began to worry at her lip, fingers clenching her mug tightly, ignoring the vicious heat that steamed off of it. “I’ve tried, but I still haven’t learned anything.”
“As you value your life,” The older woman clicked her tongue and stared into Lucy’s eyes with an intense worry that caused her heart to clench, “Try harder. Whatever power has done this: only with you, can it be undone.”
But then there was this new information that took hold of her. Wendy had called Porlyusica her Aunt, and they spoke of the Draconis tribe as if they both were among it. Did that mean… Natsu and Wendy weren’t the only ones? She eyed the wizened woman through her lashes, keeping her cup held to her face in contemplation. Yes, with a closer look, she could see it now: a slight point to the older woman's ears that matched Wendy and Natsu’s, and the hint of fangs glinting behind her lips. She had considered it nigh impossible for two Draconis’ to be part of this tribe, but now was the revelation to three.
The severity of her words settled in the pit of Lucy’s stomach, robbing her of her voice. Nodding wordlessly, she resumed drinking the tea, only partially listening as the older woman rounded on Wendy to talk to her. As far as Lucy could tell, she’d been trying hard and often. After each odd dream, she’d often take a moment to meditate, hoping some answers could come to her. In the quiet evenings when alone, she’d focus on her knee and desperately try to sense the magic that blocked her own. To no avail.
Even the voices from long ago, who had apologized profusely for damaging her and had given her the power to save Natsu, had grown silent. What could she be doing wrong?
She couldn’t deny that it was a fruitful afternoon. Wendy was skilled, but Porlyusica’s experience was obvious. Her tests were quick, swiftly getting through one after another with practiced ease, and her judgments positive. It left Lucy feeling a surge of relief, knowing that, in time, she’d be able to walk properly again. (So she hoped.) The warning to her magic block was important, and she was aware her knee would never be exactly as it was before, but the confirmation to her healing cleared away a doubt Lucy had forgotten. It eased her mind and allowed the tea to go down nice and smooth. All other concerns could be dealt with in time, just like her leg.
At least, that’s what she told herself, seeking more relief on her mind than was given.
When Lucy and Wendy left the older woman’s hut, she felt energized. The long rest had recharged what stamina she had and the trek down the verdant hills was much easier than the trek upward. Wendy stayed by her side, eyes still glancing this way and that, looking for any errant rocks she’d missed before, but there was no further stumbling. Lucy’s objective was set and she walked with a relaxed gait.
How many were out there, away from their supposed, ancestral home, against the grain of all rumors Lucy's heard? Curiosity gnawed away at her, but Lucy knew better than to ask. Especially not to Porlyusica. Her temper was legendary among the tribe and Lucy dared not test it any further. She continued to sip her tea as the two healers discussed her condition, offering details when asked of her. This check-up had been a long time coming and while it did not last for too long, Lucy did begin to feel stir-crazy the longer she sat, listening to the two speak of her as if she weren’t there.
“I’m sorry,” Wendy said after a few moments of silence, eyes glancing out further along the road. “I know she can be hard to deal with. I hope… erm, I hope we didn’t make you too uncomfortable!”
Lucy’s smile reached her eyes, “Don’t worry about it.” In truth, Wendy was correct to assume the awkward nature of the visit would be daunting, but Lucy felt no ire towards it. “You both are doing what you can to help me, that’s more than I could ask for.”
Wendy nodded, a meek expression shading her eyes as she hummed in thought. “It’s not like we wouldn’t help you. That would be horrible, but,” She paused, eyes glancing in the direction of the small library in the distance, “I do wish Levy had come with us. She could have kept you company while we talked.”
At the mention of the would-be archivist, Lucy gave a noncommittal shrug. It’s true they had invited Levy to join them that morning, but she had been occupied. If the stacks of books blocking the door of the building had been any sign. Lucy had made the attempted visit with hopes of extra company -if only to distract her from her concerns over a particular draconis of flame- and while Levy sounded aggrieved to deny them, her rush through the building sounded anything but. She was looking for something, and refused to be taken from it.
“We can’t always be available,” Lucy said after a bit, mentally reaching for a subject change. Wendy voiced her agreement, but was startled when the Romni’s next question tumbled from her lips, “So… you and Porlyusica are related?”
“Uh… yes?”
“And both Draconis?”
Wendy scrunched her nose, mumbling a confused confirmation. “Uhm, why do you-”
“It’s nothing really, I just… '' Lucy struggled to think of the right words, “all my life I’ve heard rumors of the Draconis tribe. As far as I knew they mostly stuck together, not nomadic. Their ancestral home is a secret to everyone. It’s just… interesting to me that three of you are here. Did you come together?”
At that moment, Lucy felt as if she’d stuck her foot in her mouth. She'd asked something wrong. Wendy’s face darkened, eyes shining with hidden emotions while her fingers fiddled together, nervous and uncertain. “No.. I.. Aunt Porly was here first. I think. Natsu was found next when he was little and I was…” She shifted awkwardly, eyes darting from tree to ground then towards the sun, “My Mom left me with her.”
Lucy had to fight the urge to ask further, noticing the way Wendy’s voice grew hurried and tense, voice cracking near the end of it. There was a story to tell here, but she felt now wasn’t the time to speak or hear of it. “I’m sorry. You don’t have to tell me if it makes you uncomfortable. I shouldn’t have asked-”
“I-it’s okay!” Wendy interrupted, waving her hands wildly, “I just- Well, I don’t know all the details and,” She paused, struggling to explain, “It’s hard to remember. So I’d rather … not.”
“Then you don’t have to.” Lucy urged, hoping to ease whatever pain she had inadvertently caused by her line of questions. Wendy was still young, the fact she held such a pain struck a chord in Lucy’s heart that made her own eyes sting. There was a loss in that expression. She knew it well. Poking at a painful memory was the last thing she wanted to do.
It’s the same courtesy she would have liked for herself after all.
“Thank you.” Wendy whispered after a time, hiding a sniffle. Lucy could have bitten her tongue for causing such a sound.  “Let’s get you home in time for dinner, okay?”
Perhaps that wasn’t the best topic to change to. Lucy grimaced and quickly hid her face within the fringe of her hair. “No. At least. I don’t think so.”
“Sure, but wasn’t Natsu supposed to meet with us after this?” Lucy asked, hoping Wendy would take the subject change.
She latched to the bait like a lifeline, shaking her head, “Oh! That was the plan, but he asked me this morning if I could do it. Said he would be busier than he thought. Which is strange. Usually he works fast so he can make time to check up on you. Did something happen?”
“I’m sure he’ll be all smiles by then.” Wendy assured, but her fingers continued their nervous twitching.
Lucy heaved a deep sigh, eyes casting out to the village as they reached the base of the hills. “I hope so. The Spring Dances will be soon right? It would be a shame if he was upset during it.”
“Oh.” Wendy paused. “Well, I’m sure whatever it is, Natsu will get over it soon. He always bounces back.” Her tone was certain.
The whole of the village still buzzed its excitement. Not a single thing was overlooked. Decorations continued to be placed on every bare nook that could be found, plans and spaces were made along the beach, and patrols had increased. It was their hope to ensure the protection of the town before the celebration.
As for the aforementioned prisoner: he listened to the hustle and bustle. Was aware of the excitement. Pieced together each sideward glance and hurried whisper between each guard who stood watch over his little room. He’d counted the stones in his little room a thousand times over, and relaxed against his cot if he hadn’t been locked away for all of winter.
He knew what would be coming, and when his current guard turned their back to address Erza from the stairwell, he took a finger out to trace along the edges of the enchanted barrier placed around him. A sizzle and spark danced along his fingers as he felt a stirring of magic that cracked beneath the surface.
Kage grinned. It was almost time.
No stone went unturned. Even the prison, hidden beneath the ruins, was checked over. Freed’s barrier had been reinforced. Levy had painstakingly added her own flourish to the sigils that kept Kage locked within his cell.

Natsu Dragneel: Hogwarts AU
Tumblr media
Natsu Dragneel is a Half-Blood wizard that was born on the 7th of July 1980 and started attending Hogwarts on the 1st of September 1991, being sorted into Gryffindor house.
He is one of the 15 Chosen Ones, with him being destined to defeat his older brother Zeref Dragneel.
With his parents getting killed in a Death Eater attack and his older brother having gone missing after graduating from Hogwarts, Natsu was raised by his godparents Igneel and Grandenney Marvell as the middle sibling of three.
It was during this time that he got his scarf made by dragon scales from his father, which had been knitted by his parents' friend Anna (who would eventually become his aunt-in-law).
Eventually tragedy struck though and the three siblings were left orphaned after their parents died in an accident on the dragon reserve they worked at which left Natsu and his little sister Wendy to be raised by their grandmother Porlyusica while their older brother Ignia ran away from home in anger because their parents abandoning them.
While living with his grandmother, he grew close to the children at the Fairy Tail orphanage and eventually became to regard them as family especially his childhood best friend Lisanna (Because of this, after her kidnapping and supposed death, no one in the Fairy Tail orphanage mentioned her out of respect for his feelings. However, after Lisanna's return, this is no longer the case).
When he started attending Hogwarts, he was quick to become best friends with his fellow Gryffindor Lucy Heartfilia with them often hanging out with their other best friends Gray Fullbuster and Erza Scarlet.
He eventually became a member of Makarov's Army, went on the run with his friends to find his brother's horcruxes and eventually defeated him during the Battle of Hogwarts but at a great cost (with that being that he and a bunch of his friends were thrown 7 years forward in time with a broken time turner).
After he graduated from Hogwarts, he started working on the Dragon reserve his godparents once worked at and got married to Lucy who he had two daughters and one son with.
He has a Rowan wand with a Dragon Heartstring core.
His Patronus is a Chinese Fireball.
His favorite subjects are Defense Against the Dark Arts and Care of Magical Creatures.
His least favorite subjects are History of Magic and Transfiguration.
