I didn't feel like doing off-type or F2P. 聽I just couldn't work up the desire.
I tried, though. 聽I tried to make Kris work against Flint, but unfortunately without the EX, she's just not taking care of the sides fast enough. 聽Which is a shame. 聽I feel like she could've done it with the EX. 聽But in absence of that, here's Princess Hilda to bring the smackdown. 聽Winona is here to change his weather on him.
Aaron was a bit rough, but only because sleep sucks. 聽In CS, they just pivot to X items, and wake up at irregular times, and then you die anyway. 聽It sucks. 聽But it does stall out enough that we get two syncs in, so Jasmine gets double buffs, then Serena blasts through Endure at 48k damage.
...yeah okay, listen. 聽This team is slow as dirt, I don't consider it all that great. 聽But. 聽Offensive Jasmine. 聽I had to. 聽And this was ultimately her win. 聽Sure, Marnie exploded one of the sides for 84k on sync, but Jasmine was dishing out 13k per Iron Tail, so like...I'm satisfied with that.
Lucian was weak to Ghost. 聽How unfortunate.
Then, Cynthia. 聽I had to bring Cyrus. 聽I had to do it. 聽But instead of bringing Dialga, which probably would've been smart, I brought Lisia. 聽 Because apparently, Cynthia's stage has permanent Sandstorm. 聽And I forgot that Defog works against Terrain and Zone, but not weather. 聽So I went in super sure Lisia was an answer...and she wasn't. 聽So that's on me. 聽But! 聽While Cyrus dropped to Cynthia's sync, he did take out the sides. 聽And Lisia can buff her physical defense reliably, so she took the sync just fine. 聽And then her own sync, while weakened because of weather, got her to Dragon Pulse, which did great damage, and finished the job just fine. 聽So this is a Lisia win. 聽Good job, girl.
On the whole, not too bad?聽 At least, not this run.聽 But I did do an F2P run, and while it鈥檚 likely possible to win?聽 I鈥檓 not putting in that much time.聽 I am not doing that.聽 These F2P runs in Sinnoh take for goddamned ever, and I鈥檓 done.聽 But I will give impressions of each as we go.
Aaron went first.聽 I wanted to see how Silver would do.聽 And the answer was pretty okay.聽 I won鈥檛 say it was anything too nuts, but he did a reasonably good job, just took some adjustments to get it to work.聽 Pretty reasonable.聽 I鈥檇 try Blue and Arcanine, but no special attack and crit buffers so I鈥檓 really hesitant.
Flint wasn鈥檛 too hard to stall out, which is good because Grant 100% could not handle him on an F2P budget.聽 I tried with Acerola and Hop, but it turns out Hop is weak to Fire, and no one else could get Grant to max power because no Maylene grid.聽 So that鈥檚 just great.聽 Without sun, he doesn鈥檛 hit too hard, and the rampant debuffs from Venom Drench are nice.聽 Unfortunately, this means I used Janine, Skyla, and BP Erika, far too over-confident on what was to follow.
Lucian was actually really easy too, thanks to Giovanni.聽 I expected a bit more resistance, truth be told, but I think we got it like second attempt?聽 Maybe third.聽 The only surprise was Earthquake following sync, which, once revealed, meant Roxanne could block it with Wide Guard, and Giovanni could finish the job.
Then, the fail state.聽 Bertha is insanely bulky, spams Earthquake, Tyranitar has Crunch to just immediately devastate BP Morty on stall, and most devastating of all, has Head Start, by far the single nastiest thing I鈥檝e seen a CS stage pull.聽 Most stages, in a pinch, are able to be worked around by taking out the left side with sync, flinching, or getting a lucky fast queue of your action after sync, to get two syncs before the foe鈥檚 first.聽 Bertha cannot be bamboozled in this way, and it poses a ton of problems.聽 That in tandem with her fantastic bulk, and really threatening offensive potential with Earthquake, makes her a nightmare that F2P couldn鈥檛 win.聽 If I had tried to stall her out with the Skyla team, we may have pulled it off.聽 I won鈥檛 say it鈥檚 impossible.聽 But then we鈥檇 need a solution to Flint, and we really did not have one.聽 It鈥檚 bad no matter which way you look at it.聽 Bertha was the end of this run, and so she receives the Big Dick Champion Award for the week, because hot damn is this some nonsense.
I did eventually just blast her with SS Giovanni.聽 Got to take him for a spin.聽 That was fun.聽 But then it鈥檚 on to Cynthia.
Who...man.聽 I was so hopeful.聽 So convinced.聽 That Clair would do it.聽 This was her moment.聽 But no.聽 Earthquake spam is real, and it will kill you.聽 All her moves seem to have AoE!聽 Sure, Rock Tomb is the exception, for all twice I ever saw her use that over Brutal Swing or Earthquake.聽 Even turning the weather on her didn鈥檛 have as much effect as I thought.聽 While I鈥檓 legitimately overjoyed that this is a direct fight where Cynthia鈥檚 strategy is devastating and not relying on evasion to cheat, the tradeoff is that this feels decisively impossible on F2P.聽 Stall gets really heavily worn down by permanent Sandstorm and all the buffs she receives, while offensively, the Earthquake spam wears down the sides far too quickly.聽 It鈥檚 actually really hard to manage this one.
So yeah, Sinnoh鈥檚 still ridiculous, and kind of a pain in my ass.聽 I鈥檓 giving up on the F2P clear.聽 We have Gauntlet tomorrow, and that takes priority.

First, Regirock kicked my shit open.聽 I was too new to the game to stand much chance but still beat the second tier fight.聽 Then, Moltres showed up, and it took so much nonsense to get the weather changes just right to be able to clear it with my teams.聽 So it seems only fair that now Latios shows up and drops in like half an hour with almost no resistance.
I鈥檓 seriously this was super easy.聽 The first fight seemed really easy, because everyone only dealt like double-digit damage, but I figured that was because Dawn and Lyra were providing X Def All and Light Screen support to Zinnia, who just trucked the entire fight.聽 But then round 2 came up, and...it was still happening.聽 Third phase Latios would still deal like double digits, and that is...unusual, to say the least.聽 Zinnia also trucked that fight.聽 So I get to the last fight, expecting this to be when the match showed its teeth, if only because I now needed to clear some missions.聽 I need 3 Dragons, 3 Hoenn, and 3 Gym Leaders.聽 Knowing that its weaknesses went Dragon-Dragon-Ice, I opted for the following teams:
Team 1: Sabrina, Skyla, Lisia.聽 Lisia has good crowd control and we have healing, so this will clear out the allies on the side, who I am certain will be much harder now.聽 This gives us 2 Gym Leaders, 1 Hoenn, and 1 Dragon.
Team 2: Jasmine, Zinnia, and Lyra.聽 Clean-up crew.聽 Zinnia had proven herself tremendous, especially against a single foe, so I anticipated she鈥檇 clear not only the second life bar, but most of the next.聽 3 Gym Leaders, 2 Dragons, 2 Hoenn.
Team 3: Dawn, Summer Steven, Iris.聽 A bit risky, since we only have one supporter and Iris isn鈥檛 built well, but it鈥檚 her or Clair and Clair seemed like a mistake at the time.聽 This would give us 3 Gym Leaders, 3 Dragons, and 3 Hoenn.聽 A perfect spread, and Summer Steven is nothing if not a cheating bastard man with his flinch potential, so this seemed ideal.聽 I set the teams up, and got to work.
Lisia took out 2.5 life bars on her own.聽 I鈥檓 dead serious.聽 Turns out her Dragon Pulse is incredibly strong, and because she鈥檚 bulky, she鈥檚 a goddamn threat and a half when she decides to go offensive instead of playing Twister support.聽 I really like Lisia/Altaria now, this is a fun tech unit.聽 But, having throttled Latios so hard, it was time to re-assess the plan so I didn鈥檛 win too fast and miss the conditions for the quests.
I wound up swapping Lyra from the second team and putting in Iris, effectively throwing that match, and they still dealt like another 30% of the lifebar.聽 By the time Steven, Dawn, and Lyra came in, it was already over.聽 It just barely made it to the sync move.聽 This fight was an absolute curbstomp and I鈥檓...kinda surprised by that fact.聽 I鈥檓 so used to Legendary fights being the most frustrating things imaginable, but we actually had about no trouble at all.聽 Not that I鈥檓 complaining.聽 All those extra gems will be very helpful when the Sygna Suit Kantonians show up.聽 I will have Leaf...
