Prize for the worst post-election take on my social media goes to the following:

the american dream lives on for white cis males but for everyone else it died today

It's quite impressive to encapsulate so much of what's wrong with the common progressive framing of the political battleground for the last decade, and just how counterproductive it is, in such an elegant single sentence.

Very narrow second place goes to my very Democrat-y Democrat activist-for-the-Democratic-party every-politician-with-a-D-next-to-their-name-worshiping friend who, in a long rambling single-paragraph post detailing the gory details of how and when she cried and screamed and cursed, described how her first thoughts are about how clearly Trump must have CHEATED just like he CHEATED in 2016 with Putin and James Comey and Russian bots and hacking the DNC (she also "instantly feared for the life of Liz Cheney").

This really deserves first prize honestly, but its obnoxiousness is way less concisely centered and it's an obvious cry of pain from someone whose general pain I share right now, so I feel bad picking on it. At the same time, wielding rhetoric that is exactly as Trumpian as election-denial rhetoric from the other side ought to be condemned, especially the part of it referring to an event you've had eight years to cool down from and mull over. And, FFS, if there ever was a time to drop the assumption that Democrats are perfect and to take a really really hard look in the mirror at where the Democratic party might have gone wrong, it's now.
