Bdubs: It happens with a lot of our redstone geniuses really, even I have the problem. It's just way more obvious with our dear Etho cause they’ve got white hair. I'm sure Mumbos just absolutely covered in the stuff, think the guy would light up like a glowstick if you stood him next to a torch, we just can't tell cause Mumbos always in black. /just continues on in general Bdubs rambling/

I know most say “oh gee wilikers! Never Love an Anchor by the Crane Wives is so desert duo coded!” And hey! I agree with y’all!

But also… think of how well it fits with Last Life Etho and BDubs…

“BDubs, Etho has no loyalty to you. He’s just immediately teamed up with the next guy that’s come along.”

I was watching this ethubs megacut video and it's composed of LL clips and there's a part after... I think Tango? maybe? blows up the middle tower in their fortress that Bdubs says smth like "We can always rebuild" and Etho replied "I'm done building" and like. do I need to explain the metaphors you can make out of this. they're making me ill again

Here's the thing, Etho loves Bdubs. He loves him so much that he wants him around all the time in front of everyone on the sever as much as possible. Bdubs loves Etho, obviously, and to him the highest, strongest form of loyalty is secrecy.

In Session 5, Etho felt so much remorse that he decided to be overly nice just for the sake of being nice. This isn't the usual dynamic and Bdubs, while also clearly loving the attention, was deeply unsettled. They welcome him into their base, build him a room, he basically could have left the mounders at this point and never looked back.

*And that's what Etho wanted to happen.*

But Bdubs is undyingly loyal to anyone who gives him attention so he doesn't move into the Roomies alliance; and in session 6 from Etho's perspective you barely see him at all bc he's busy playing chicken with Scar and Impulse.

The whole thing in session 7 could have changed if even moments before being killed he would have run to Etho. But Etho is tired of being the last resort, he loves Bdubs but he'd love it even more if he could have him the whole time and have it not be a plan B or the "when everything falls to shit plan".

Etho has spent basically every season since last life trying to get Bdubs to love him in peaceful seas. But for Bdubs, loyalty is tested when the storm rolls in that's when it's most important to him and that's consistently when he chooses Etho. Any other time for Bdubs is just fun and games and he can't see that the way Etho bids for his attention are Etho's lifelines. So Etho slips away when Bdubs needs him most.

hello instead of thinking about my multiple missing and soon to be due assignments i think i will conjure up an hermitcraft war au or a mostly ethubs soldier and combat medic au (i know i said war but its really not all that angsty) in my head if anyone wants to hear about it

Very rough setting and plot:

General Xisuma and his troops (the hermits) defending Hermitsville

Fighting against the Empires (they don't actually like the whole fighting thing, this is inspired by their whole crossover that i actually didn't even watch :sob: so I have no idea if this would make sense)

Medic Bdubs:

Nickname is BdoubleO100 because he's known to be able to restore people up to 100% swiftly and has the best treatment out there (idk abt this one)

A magician with herbs, can perform "miracles" with plants and greens

Very into eating healthy, getting good sleep, etc, but forget about these things when he gets super stressed

Soldier Etho:

Former engineer

Partners with Doc in engineering/mechanics and followed him into the war after Doc insisted on joining Ren in fighting

Logic>feelings type of guy

Writes letters to Bdubs when he's far away from main base/headquarters (Scar smirks at the reaction Bdubs has whenever he mentions theres a letter addressed to him in the mail)

Sees random little flowers/grasses/rocks, thinks about Bdubs, pockets it and sends it along with the letter in the envelope (Bdubs cherishes these and got mad at Scar and ignored him for a day for losing one of the pebbles Etho sent.)

Record enthusiast (Bdubs got him stal for a welcome back present)

Antisocial boy (do i even need to mention this)

Covers mouth because of his second redstone machine (exploded in his face cause he thought he could expand on his original design, made a few too many changes (ego got too big got overexcited), circuit overheated and blow up, hides it cause hes embarrassed and dont wanna talk about it)

Scenarios I thought about:

Etho came to Bdubs for eye irritation (stayed up too late working on designs), medic doing his job examining his eye, inches closer because he saw the long scar poking out of his mask, pestering a flushed Etho to let him check it out due to "pure concern"

Etho injured his arm in combat, getting a gash from a dagger, tries to hide it because he knows theres other soldiers that more hurt than him, doesn't trust anyone else besides Bdubs to look at his injury, hides away in room, faints on bed due to exhaustion and blood loss, Bdubs couldn't spot Etho when everyone was suppose to be back, panics thinking his lover friend died, asks around, finds Etho in bed, sighs in relief, realizes hes unconscious, manages to wake him, sees the injured arm, gets super worried, yadda yadda feelings tears patching up, Etho falls asleep after getting patched, listening to Bdubs ramble about how worried he was, wakes up surrounded by blankets, with a calloused hand holding his own uninjured one, with soft snores erupting from a person sleeping soundly laying on his abdomen

DL!Bdubs: Oh, Symphony. We’re making blueprints for our castle so Kiyarosity can make it for us!

Oh okay lemme see it- THAT LOOKS LIKE A BIT MUCH…

DL!Impulse: We’ve been working very hard on this blueprint.

…It’s just… if you guys get the castle of your dreams, then everyone will expect their own dream houses, and I don’t know if we have room for all that! There’s over 70 of you and not everyone wants to live close to one another! We’d have to tear down the already existing bases! We’d have to change EVERYTHING!!!

LimL!Scott: I could move into the Shipwreck so it doesn’t go to waste, if that’s what you’re concerned about.

But that doesn’t change the other problems!

LimL!Scott: Of people wanting their dream houses? The first version of me already has his, and everyone’s already upset about it. Why did you give him his dream base and refuse to let these guys have theirs? Hm?

I… Listen! It’s complicated, alright? Plus, the Flower Valley has been surrounded with other bases being built directly next to and even on top of it. If these guys want their dream castle, they’ll have to share it with others!

LimL!Scott: Well that’s easy!

DL!Etho: …I don’t… want to share it.

DL!Impulse: Yeah… it was meant to be just us four…
