Listen to your body, whether it relaxes and lets you know that going certain places feels good, like this old growth rainforest, or when you struggle to sleep, like I did last night. My body, and the thoughts that prevented me from sleeping well was a message worth hearing. We should all get training in listening to our body. That is part of the work we do with people who call seeking anger management. There is a collective fear and anxiety that almost everyone is carrying right now. Own that. Notice how it resonates through your chest, impacts your breathing, or how it sits in your belly. It may be tension in your jaw, shoulders, neck, forehead, or hips. Breathe into this part of your body and listen to the message. Being aware to it. No judgement. Self compassion can be really helpful here, because if we are kind to ourselves, we are much more likely to be kind to others.
