A little writing tidbit

I wanted to write...something and thus I shall. Its the spirit kaiju/familiar AU so...yeah. It's Liu's and Lao's first meeting when they were kids.

Liu was holding onto Bo Rai Cho's robes as they walked into a place that the older man had called the Wu Shi Academy and he could see monks and students walking around, doing the duties. He felt Huǒgē's talons grip onto the back of his shirt, scaled, warm wings against his arms, bringing him reassurance the best his familiar could.

"Master Bo Rai Cho, you're back!" a sudden voice called, startling Liu. Some ways away, he could see a boy, a little older than he and wearing a hat, running with...something brown running beside the boy.

He watched as the boy skid to a stop and took notice of him. The boy's brows furrowed at the new face, head tilting.

"Who are you?" The boy questioned.

"That's not how you properly greet our new students." Bo Rai Cho scolded, making the boy look at the older man sheepishly before doing a polite bow.

"Sorry. I am Kung Lao, Descendant of the Great Kung Lao and a student of the Wu Shi Academy. This here is Sui."

The brown creature, Sui, sat down on his hind legs, his front legs in the air, as if he was trying to be cute and non-threatening. There were little nubs running down his back, similar to Huǒgē's three on the back of the his head.

Sui was larger than his familiar height-wise and it was clear that he was older as well.

"Uh...I'm Liu Kang..." Liu mumbled as he stared at the two with wide eyes.

Lao's familiar let out a loud grunt and, with some hesitation, Huǒgē hopped off of Liu's back and walked to the other familiar and seemingly inspected Sui until, at last, he bumped his beak against the other's snout before looking over at Liu and letting out a chirp.

Liu watched his familiar before slowly letting go of the older man's robe and took a few steps forward.

Then, Lao was suddenly there, so close that he could Liu got smell the other's scent and feel the other's warmth.

It almost instantly brought him a sense of safety that he had never felt before and that feeling increased as Lao gripped his hand and began to lead them to their familiars.

And for the first time in a long time...Liu did end up letting a small smile crawl onto his face.

MK21: Lao is very protective over his Shi di. Would there be a time where he goes overboard with his protectiveness?

My personal Headcannon is that Kung Lao is More likely to act as a shield for Liu kang, protecting him from harm and stopping him from going all out on his opounent.

Liu Kang is actually More likely to throw hands in defence of Lao and his honor.

yk i saw some post on twitter like ages ago saying "i can connect anything to mortal kombat" and every single thing they were given to connect to mk was like so easy to connect (like 9/11 is so fucking obvious) but the thing is i just make those connections at random just because. i just connected the wi ha joon underarmor photoshoot (or maybe this one was the powerade one? idk he's wearing underarmor still) to mortal kombat. because the way wi ha joon looked at the camera for two seconds was reminiscent of one of brabble's mk21 liu kang works. bedroom eyes. the kanliulao one. like i just do that bru. saw a picture of lewis tan with some fuckers from yo gabba gabba and said "yet another connection between 9/11 and mortal kombat" what the fuck am i DOING (though that one isn't really wild. 9/11 -> mcr -> every snowflake is different just like you on yo gabba gabba -> lewis tan photo -> cole young -> mk21 -> mk. making a connection from powerade to a thirst drawing of liu kang from may last year is kinda crazy though. in literally one jump.)

Why do you not like liulao?

it just doesn’t sit right with me, i’ve seen people say that they aren’t BLOOD related and i understand that, but they still see eachother as family… they seem like adopted brothers

also, in mk11, kung lao called liu kang brother like ,, a bit before they fought kronika iirc

aaand in mk21 liu kang says smth along the lines of “i found a brother, kung lao” basically saying that kung lao was his brother

Next up is Liu Kang with his buddy (well, really brother).

I made his spirit kaiju/familiar be (Fire) Rodan because....there not much dragon-like fire kaiju that would fit Liu. Though, I couldn't adjust Rodan's beam more orange-colored so...this is the best I could do.

So, Liu found an egg while being an Orphan and going through the...traumatic of a certain kind portion of his life. (if you've seen the scene with Liu patching Cole up...you understand what I'm referring too)

When the egg hatches, Little Liu decides to name him Huǒgē.

And that's all I can really say.
