This is the best light to take pictures or videos I think, right at dusk! Make-up looked better earlier this morning lol. I need to get better at doing it earlier so I can take pre-sweat pics of my art! It has been hot! 😂 Today was the first day I wore my mask while putting on the make-up so I'm getting better at planning lol! haha #warpaint #againstoppression #covidmakeup #lightinguptheworld #livinginlight #makingtheworldabetterplace #livinginlove https://www.instagram.com/p/CESuncLp6_F/?igshid=ijakx3u0tu83

Buenos Días! Portland is extra beautiful when it’s sunny. On wet, cold, gray days looking at pictures of sunny days makes me feel better and feel more hopeful. How do you cope with dark days? Please share some of your feel-good rituals with me! I love blasting “Here Comes The Sun” and singing out loud. No shame. I see you. How I began PIFF
It was just some random Friday. I was feeling inspire to give and share something that wasn't mine but found and took the treasure as a gift. Knowing that someone else could use this gift more than me.
I have always been a giver. Never taking 100% of gifts and treasures, but more so spreading them out to others for greater purpose of sharing. When something is left untouched for so long, I get rid of it because it serves no purpose for leaving it set to rot and dust up.
THE STORY, INSPIRATION and ABUNDANT TOUCH THAT STARTED my worldwide PIFF:
In 2012, I was in Taiwan teaching English. It was a tough job and working more than 70 hours a week for such little compensation. I knew there was greater opportunity for me elsewhere that would psychologically empower and enhance my skills. But where do I start? I have a Bachelors degree in natural medicine, am in an Asian country with no work permit and a surrounded by a language that even the most profound speakers of can't get it right.  So I thought, maybe a vacation will expand my horizons and help me have a clearer image of my future.  So I jumped plane and went to Thailand. In Thailand, I successfully completed my first Yoga Teacher training at Absolute Hot Yoga in October 2012.
Here I met some wonderful people with passionate hearts to be a true yogi - not merely the physical perfectionist - but those who wanted to live a life of abundance thru the 8 limb path and actively practicing the 5 Niyamas. This is where my true nature os selflessness took off.
Soon after I completed my training, I accepted a job offer as a wellness consultant at a local detox resort. Within my first week, my accommodation where I was staying got broken into. Wallets, Cash, makeup, clothes.... so much stuff was taken. I was furious, angry and in tears. Thailand is supposed to be the land of smiles.
My initial thought was that it must have been another westerner in the complex I was living and that no Thai person would ever do such a cruel act of stealing. But I have no proof. Weeks had past and still no evidence of the suspect. Eventually I forgot about it and moved on.
The Christmas and New Year rolled around and with this in mind, I set a resolution to not be greedy for the things I don't have and be appreciative of the things I do have and if ever this were to happen again, I would think “well, i guess i had too much stuff.” But, the very next day, Wednesday Jan 2, while shopping for groceries at a local 7/11-which I went to regularly - I set my bag down to grab something out of the cooler and within 5 seconds it was gone and the guy ran out of the store with everything I had. Luckily, it was just a hippie bag with a few bucks, one credit card and some hair items.
Again, frustrated and furious to the point of no return; however, my intention again sparked my mind and after a little meditation I was OK with the situation. Friday, Jan 4th came.........  This is the day!!! I was back at the same 7/11. the store clerk, Yumi smiled at me and gave her deepest apologies for what had happen. Too many times she kept saying “Jess, this never happens. Im so sorry!” I replied, “Its OK.” I grabbed some coconut water and eggs and approached the counter. I was in a rush to be at work within 15 minutes. The lady in front of me had a basket full of stuff but I remained patient. Then she got ready to pay.
Hesitant to open her wallet knowing she didn't have enough cash, I stayed put and watched her scuffle thru her belonging looking for money. She had 3 very young children with her, one in a sling on her chest. Yum and I stared at each other but my eyes were filled with graceful intentions and she knew that. I whispered to Yumi and asked what the bill was. She said in a soft voice “694 Bhat.” This is just over $19.
Without thinking, and still very chill and patient, I slowly reached into my bag and counted out 700 Thai Bhat and gave it to her. The lady with the 2 girls ad 1 baby boy had no idea what was happening because she was still looking thru her stuff for money. When Yumi gave me my change, I put my hand on her shoulder and said “Don't worry, I took care of it for you. Go take care of your babies.” I handed her the 6 Thai Bhat change and walked out the door. I didn't even pay for my water or eggs but I was certain Yumi knew I would come back and pay for them on my next visit.
Did I ever see this coming? Of course not, but again, I had just got paid, had more cash than I needed and well we all live for one purposes and thats to give kindness always.
So did anyone ever help me like that? In an unexpected need for help, shelter or conversation? Absolutely!! My mind kept reflecting on these events and giving gratitude for these unforeseen angels. The greatest of one soon to appear.
THE GREATEST INSPIRATION and REASON I ALWAYS PIFF
On January 25, another Friday, I was at Bangkok airport. Arriving close to 830 am, I had more than 9 hours before my flight to Taipei. This was the first leg to my trip back to USA.
The Gate agent at the baggage counter told me that I can not check my baggage into the flight until 11am. They were quite heavy and wasn't sure what I was going to do for 2.5 hours with all these bags. Managing to just sit outside and soak up some Thailand sun, it easily killed the time. Then i went back to the counter. As I checked my baggage in, the lady requested the credit card that i used to purchase my ticket and totally forgetting about it, that was the card that was stolen from the 7/11. I mentioned this to her but she refused to let me check my bags or issue me my paper ticket for the flight. I had an electronic boarding pass on my iPad but still no solution for the baggage.
After requesting to speak to a supervisor, and doing so with a waterfall of tears and fear, I was still refused the service I needed to proceed. So what did I do?
I found a restaurant that would put my luggage in the back while I went thru security with my carry on bags and E-boaring pass. This way I could use free wifi to search for another ticket with the credit card that I did have.
I gracefully walked into the Delta airline lounge, smiling at the Concierge and having a seat in the quietest of corners I could find. Trying to calm down and give myself a breather, I finally started to Zen to a place where my mind could productively think.
Nearly 3 hours had past, it was getting close to 3pm and with only 2.5 hours to go before my initial flight was to depart, I still had no solution. The ticket prices one way were near $1000 to Taipei and I only had about $372 on my other card. Still crying, grabbing my hair and covering my mouth to reduce my whining noise, I felt lost.  But then there was the angel!
Without going into too much detail as I'm sure you’re saying to yourself “GET TO THE POINT JESS”, a very nice Vietnamese businessman walked up to me and asked if there was anything he could do to help. I told him what had happened over the last few weeks and what had just happen at the airport he showed sincere sympathy and sat down at the table with me.
We talked about the things most people do when they first meet(where are you from, what brings you on your travels, what do you do.....). After 45 minutes(or close to it) he asked me how much the airfare was to Taipei. I told him and with about 3 minutes of hesitation, he said “Well, Ive got some leftover honeymoon money if it will help you get back home.” He pulled out $1000 cash and told me to go home......   I cried some more with a smiling heart rather than a frowning heart. Since then, my heart remains upside down, turned over, changed or whatever you call it to never put a frown on it and keep it pointed up high. I think you get it.
So because of all these things happening on Fridays, I started this PIFF to Pay It Forward Friday and never let my thoughts be selfish when the day comes and making my first action or actions be for the gifted giving to others. Of course hoping that others would do the same and keep the KARMA going.
I’ll do my best to blog as much as I can on who was the lucky PIFF victim so stay tuned and be amused :)
Ok thats it :)
In Loving Light,
Jess
