March of flowers day 7: Azalea | "I'll be here for you".
Despite all, they have each other✨ I don't actually know if they eventually decide to be close or not, I only remember little guy being forced to, so just pretend they decided to be friends on their own :')

Le Charivari (which could maybe be translated as the Shivaree, a type of mocking parade) was a satirical newspaper whose anti-monarchist owners often faced government censorship (see for example, Charles Philipon & his contribution to the Louis-Phillipe pear lore)
Le Charivari  also published the above caricatures of V Hugo by Honoré Daumier, including flower crown Hugo and regularly published the work of Amédée de Noé/Cham, whose satire of Les Misérables I’d really like to write about.
Anyways, it makes sense then that they would take a dim view to the censorship of LM, as outlined in the article below.
ALSO, I am only just now realizing that this production was the same year as the Exposition Universelle of 1878.
Le Charivari, 25 March 1878
Who among us does not remember the profound and immense sensation that Les Misérables caused under the Empire?
Thanks to the odious involvement of censorship and an arbitrary act as monstrous as it was petty, a silence was imposed on the theaters, quieting the great voice of Victor Hugo, who dominates the smallness of his persecutors by the height of his genius.
But the book escaped from the imperial Javerts. How does one justify in the eyes of Europe a ban that would have hit the novel of the sublime exile? They backed off. And Les Misérables appeared.
In the rue de Seine, at the doors of the editor Pagnerre, there was a veritable riot of admiration. That admiration, in aggrandizing the poet of Les Châtiments, belittled his unrelenting enemies. They had to put things in order.
So when Charles Hugo, having adapted a play from his father’s work, requested the necessary authorization for that play to be shown in Paris, the veto, which was for a moment ashamed of itself, hastened to remedy things and so the play of Les Misérables took the route for Belgium.
It is an honor for the new republic to return the play to France.
The generous and grandiose idea that therefore runs from beginning to end of the glorious master’s career is the idea of recovery, rehabilitation, and forgiveness.
In his untiring concern, he studied all miseries, all physical and moral ugliness, all failures and he said: Have faith and courage.
And he said to society: Do not insult the victims. Hold your hand out to all the repentant.
This idea, which is found everywhere in the prose and verse of Victor Hugo, is found, so to speak, condensed and concentrated by special demonstration in Les Misérables.
Above all,  what attests to the creative power proven by the illustrious writer in this vast design which is, so to speak, an encyclopedia of charity, is that all the characters that he imagines take on, in the eyes of the reader, a marvelous intensity of life. We don’t remember them as characters in a novel but as beings who we have rubbed shoulders with, who we saw ourselves and who we recognize when we encounter them.
Valjean, Fantine, Javert, the Thénardiers, Gavroche: so many enduring faces.  Like Minerva, as recounted in the fable, these characters sprung forth alive from the brain of their father.
Unfortunately not every one of them could find a place within the strict limits of a single play. The second half of the novel had to be sacrificed.
What is differed is not lost.
As it is, the play at the Porte-Saint-Martin, written by the late Chalers Hugo and by our compatriot Paul Meurice, stirred everyone, even in the entrails of the auditorium where, nevertheless, carefree bon vivants and perhaps also the old remains of political rivalries could not have asked for a better pretext for impotent protests.
The play unfurls majestically, this epic of human suffering, this remarkable symphony of sobs, but we will draw particular attention to the episodes of the Bishop Myriel, of petit Gervais, of the storm beneath a skull, of the criminal court, of Cosette and of Picpus.
It wasn’t so much the robust shoulders of Dumaine that carried the weight of the role so much as those of Valjean. His success took on the proportions of triumph after the terrible monologue which you know. A prodigious solo of conscience.
Mlle Jane Essler had to, partially through improvisation, replace Mlle Tallandiera who, in a heartbreaking turn, is perhaps in this very moment playing realistically Fantine’s suffering. Mlle Jane Essler makes the character too dark all around. Like in paintings, the dramatic arts require light here and there. She sort of forgot to include it. It was too much monochrome sentimentality. She nevertheless deserved the applause which on several occasions saluted the actress who has been too long off the stage.
. . . [skipping  over some general praise for the rest of the cast]. . .
The drama of Les Misérables will be for the Porte-Sant-Martin a success that will extend beyond the Exposition. And it will bring justice to the authors at the same time who will profit from the spectators.
It is useful intermediately for a theater to teach in order to counterbalance theater which corrupts.

The White Wolf And The Dragon (I)
The inn Bloom with life, the local bard sings about adventures of great heroes and myths.
Geralt walks to the bartender, he needs some coin.
-Looking for a Job eh?-the bartender asks- lucky you, There is the local potion brewer, their name is jerico, they live near the Woods, seeming to need help with a pesky spirits messing with their work-
Geralt nodds and marches to the Woods.
Everyone is annoying right now.
The forest was dark, thick trees and every type of critter to exist Walked on the path.
And then, there sorrounded by all the dark ambience of the place Is a shack , a two story cabin that said "Potions".
Yeah that checks out, thats the place then.
The witcher knocks on the door with flowers.
Not only was the owner a potion brewer but a cleric, or a druid of some kind.
Inside of it there is a half dragon human, writing a letter to their bard friend.
"Im so relieved to hear from you Louis, and glad to see that your bard journey is getting you to amazing places, and please tell me more about that bard you met , im so exited to see where this leads.
~jerico"
Then they hear a knock on the door, their feet make small noises as they go down the stairs, they Open the door to be met with geralt,he is taken Back by the sight before him.
A dragonborn?
Their white horns are pulled back, a cumbersome but beautiful set of wings cradle behind their back, and a tail that moves around slowly in interest.
-Yes?-they say, their big green orbs meet his eyes- do you need a potion?-
-Uh no, came here for the job , I heard in the Inn that you needed help with a 'pesky spirit'?-
The dragonborn scowls but nodds, indicating Him to come in.
-Ah yes , there is a ghost that set itself on my cabin not so long ago, its annoying-they close the door.
The place is full of notes with recipies for potions, spells And more magic, and plants, they Bloom as jerico walks past them.
-You have an idea of how this came to happend?-geralt asks.
-Well, I know of a witch who is jealous of my craft, near these Woods, down the River, she could be the main suspect, I just want It to go away but I specify in healing, not banishing-
-And how much is the reward?-
-Two thousand gold-
Geralts eye widen, why so much?
-I suspect that this problem isnt only a ghost,is it?-
The dragon human sighs.
-Yeah, you caught me, people usually run away when I tell them, its more like a curse, it was casted with a magic so powerful that can only be broken by killing the caster-
Is he really going to accept the job?.
-Fine, ill fix this problem of yours-
Jerico smiles and their eyes glint with joy, they quickly Scramble trough some potions.
-If you ever need these, take this two healing potions-
-I dont need them, I can heal quickly-
-Just in case! -
Geralt scowls and takes them.
-fine- he says leaving the cabin.
-Again, thank you- jeri says softly
He cant control it, a smile creeps on his face as he nodds, there was something alluring about them, certain charm he couldnt quite grasp.
The job was done in less than a week, the potions Came in handy too, after it geralt colects the payment and he goes away.
Yet something pulled him back to that forsaken town, maybe it was the calm ambience?.
No.
The nice food?
No...
Was it...oh god, it was the potion brewer.
Roach neighs and hits his head against geralt.
-Im not playing dumb he says- but roach hits him again-I came to make sure they are okay-the horse neighs and geralt ties Him to a tree; he knocks softly as he smells the scent of sweet tea , maybe some honey and a pastrie?.
The door opens, jerico smiles at geralt when they see him.
-What brings you here?-they say with a smile on their face.
-Came to make sure that the curse was broken-
They make him come in again.
-Tea?-they ask.
-Uh sure- geralt was impressed to actually be accepting of something he rarely drinks.
The both of them sit in the comfortable furniture.
-Yes ,you did the work splendidly, no more pesky ghost to ruin my work- they serve him a Cup of tea and pours some honey with it-thank you very much, but there was no need to come back here, its far away from something interesting-
Geralt drinks and looks around.
-Well this place has something interesting at least-
-This hieroglyphs? Old runes that tell stories we convinced ourselves to Belive, thats everywhere-
-Not a thing , but a person-
Jerico Sips from their berevage.
-are you implying that I am the only thing interesting about this place? You must be blind-
Geralt chuckles and makes eye contact.
-My eyesight is healthy , im just saying the truth-
Jerico blushes and looks away.
They spend the evening talking away, finally night falls.
-You sure you dont want to stay? This place is dangerous to go alone in the night..-
-I dont want to take anymore from you, took your gold, this whole evening- and their heart-lm not taking your bed -
-Please be careful, im jerico, by the way, if you come back please come and say hi, you are no nuisance here-
-Geralt of rivia, ill keep that in mind-
Jerico watches him ride away , hoping he Will be fine.
These Woods can be really dangerous.
{...}
-Void.

Jo March! She's tormented, enthusiastic, restless, and driven to write even though she doesn't have good luck with it. Also LM Alcott grew up in the town where I work, so I visit her grave frequently for a chat.
I wish I identified more with Anne Shirley but I'm not nearly Good enough.
what scented candle is your favorite?
Peacock Parfumerie has one called Tabacco Flower that's currently my favorite. It smells like home and magic and learning.

Spring Equinox
As the flowers rise and show the breadth of God’s glory
I doubt they reminisce about the day their petals fell
Never do they focus on their withering, but instead they exist in the now
in the spring
As the wind is blowing, I watch them sway
and in studying their movement I’ve learned to say
I go with the flow, and I move with the time, lm gracious in the now - because all presence is prime
Flowers work their cycle, as do I
When my petals fall, I will not die

Taking ownership in the cricket world cup
Since 2008, John Wisden & Co has been an imprint of Bloomsbury Publishing. They, like most of the owners down the years, have been sensible enough to let the experts get on with the job without undue interference. Wisden’s acquisition in 1993 by John Paul Getty Jr, son of the US oil tycoon, coincided with the arrival of Engel, a brilliant writer for The Guardian with a rebellious streak and an eye for a curio. Engel’s Notes stand the test of time for their waspish wit and takedowns of the authorities. “I think Matthew’s first instinct on becoming editor was to inject some fun into the book – some lighter touches to contrast with the authoritative comment and reportage,” says Chris Lane, the consultant publisher who has now clocked up 30 years at Wisden. “That’s where the Chronicle, the Index of Unusual Occurrences and Cricket Round the World came in.”
Getty had emerged from the 1960s counter-culture in a bad way – heroin addiction, his second wife’s rumoured fatal overdose, his son’s brutal kidnapping – before recuperating in a hospital bed next to Gubby Allen and a friendship with Mick Jagger led him to a restorative love affair with cricket. Lane’s impressions of Getty seem quite removed from the recent on-screen portrayals of him in Trust and All the Money in the World.
“I knew him very well,” says Lane. “He was a gentle and kind man who proved to be wonderfully supportive. He really wasn’t interested in business. His only concern was that Wisden was healthy. He liked what Matthew brought to it and gave Matthew and myself full backing to develop it.”
The digital revolution
Until the mid-’90s, there were no computers involved in making Wisden: all copy was typed out by the writer, edited, then bashed out again by a typesetter before proofi ng. Now, from the moment a writer emails in their copy, an article is seen virtually all the way to completion by the in-house – though far-fl ung – editorial team. Production coordinator Peter Bather – who has proofread every Wisden since Norman Preston’s era – works with the typesetters to make the page as beautiful as the words. I never did meet the mysterious proofreader Charles Barr, a fi lm studies academic. (Only recently did I learn that, as a 28-year-old associate member of MCC, Barr organised the vote of no-confi dence in the MCC committee over the non-selection of Basil D’Oliveira in 1968.) “Obviously editing on screen has changed everything,” says Chevallier. “We do quite a bit of the typesetters’ job nowadays – that’s mirrored throughout publishing and journalism, where editors have more become allrounders. “It’s a struggle to keep track of everything as we near press day, so having Peter at that fi rst remove from the editorial process is absolutely invaluable. I rely on him, his cool head and his vast experience enormously.”
The most gruelling aspect is the proofreading. And this has been a cottage industry for almost a third of Wisden’s life, since Preston retired from his agency day job in 1968 and took it into his Bromley home. Before broadband internet and Skype, proofi ng used to mean half a dozen gatherings a year in Wisden’s spartan offi ces on the edge of the Hampshire Downs or Monkhouse’s Didsbury dining room. Or in Woodcock’s time, his cottage in Longparish. Now, proof sessions can be started and dropped at the click of a button. If only they were that straightforward…
The dreaded deadline
The notion of having one deadline a year would cause most journalists to double up in laughter. In reality, it means ever-lengthening days as late February’s “unmissable deadline”, as Chevallier calls it, looms large. Scyld Berry, in a heartfelt Daily Telegraph article refl ecting on his last edition in 2011, compared the annual rhythm to farming.
I used to fi nd the last fortnight, spent at the typesetters in Bungay, Suffolk, morale-boosting after three months spent in near-darkness. Sadly, we never did spot Julian Assange, who was living at nearby Ellingham Hall while we were putting Wisden 2011 to bed. If, as this year, the fi rst crocuses are pushing through and the magnolia is budding, it can be delightful; last year the Beast from the East dumped its worst on south-east England, and it took Whitehead 10 hours to get home from Bungay. By no means has Wisden always met the deadline though usually war or coal shortages have been to blame. The 1886 edition emerged an entire year late. During the two World Wars, Wisden was leaner and more modest due to paper rationing. “It’s a miracle it came out at all during World War One,” says Lane. In his Preface to 1916, Sydney Pardon wrote: “The question of coming out at all was seriously considered, but the proprietors decided not to break the continuity of over half-a-century.” And that one contained 138 pages of obituaries, including hundreds of the war dead, plus those of WG Grace, Victor Trumper and AE Stoddart.
Luckily, most of Wisden 1941 was already at the printers when the offi ces of parent company Whitaker’s were bombed in the Blitz; in 1944 the Luftwaffe struck Wisden’s sports equipment factory in Mortlake. And then there was Wisden 2003. All the changes set publication back by a month; itself raising the temptation of including the scores from the 2003 World Cup (icc world cup 2019 list), which finished on March 23, and refl ections on Henry Olonga and Andy Flower’s black-armband protest. Chevallier and the typesetter, Mike Smith, pulled a 23- hour shift to get it to the printers. Once ‘send’ is pressed, the team sit back and pray that nothing major happens between deadline and publication in early April. Like on February 25 2001, when Don Bradman died when Wisden was on the presses. “It was the alertness of a machine minder at Clays, the printers, who realised the magnitude of this moment,” refl ects Chevallier. “He had the presence of mind to start printing later in the book, and called us. Graeme scrapped his Preface, and replaced it with a one-page tribute to Bradman. That printer hasn’t been given the full credit.” Wisden 2002 gave The Don the full treatment. Last year, Booth gave ECB chief executive Tom Harrison (For) and ESPNcricinfo’s George Dobell (Against) the chance to debate the “new Twenty20 tournament”. Except that, a week after publication, it turned out it would be a 100-ball competition. Re-reading Harrison’s piece shows how careful he was to avoid mentioning ‘T20’ directly.
But Wisden usually benefi ts from a little cool detachment. Wisden 2018 was already printed and bound when Cameron Bancroft scratched the ball at Newlands, so it could not fall prey to the generally overwrought reaction of the Australian media. So this year, as last, Wisden rolled off the printers at Grafi ca Veneta, close to Venice, in early March, and truckloads of Almanacks were due to arrive at English ports sometime around March 29… There’s nothing else due to happen then, is there?
