Our Tutors
Jacqueline Bond BA (Hons) Oxon. MSc
A former Lord Mayor's scholar at City of London School for Girls, I graduated from Brasenose College, Oxford in Physiology, Psychology and Philosophy, and hold a master's in Integrative Neuroscience from Imperial College London. For over 5 years I have helped my students achieve their own academic successes in Mathematics, Science, English and Reasoning. My students have successfully entered many of the top independent day and boarding schools, and achieved top grades in public examinations.
Fred Rowson BA (Hons) Cantab.
Having studied at Dulwich College in South London, I went on to read English Literature at Cambridge. My speciality is English Language and Literature, from basic up to university level. Aside from teaching set texts and grammatical exercises, I also specialise in essay planning and writing techniques, which can be applied to long-form writing across various arts subjects. I have experience teaching students of all ages, and am used to finding creative and exciting methods to interest even the most reluctant reader.
Theo Barclay BA (Hons) Oxon. GDL
I am currently training to be a barrister specialising in commercial/international law and will be commencing pupillage next year. I hold undergraduate degrees in History from Oxford University and in Law from City Law School, London. I have been working as a private tutor for five years, and have enjoyed teaching History, Law, English, Drama, Politics and Philosophy to first degree standard. Additionally, I have helped A level students with public speaking, debating and advocacy. I have also worked at Eton College's Oxbridge entrance training course, working with the school staff to help external students with interview preparation for Oxford and Cambridge.
Thea Downey BA (Hons)
Having enjoyed a fantastic secondary education as a scholar at City of London School for Girls, I went on to study Arabic and Economics at the School of Oriental and African Studies. I started private tutoring in London in 2008, and since then have taught in Egypt and, pro bono, in Uganda. I teach a variety of subjects for all ages up to GCSE level, with my particular area of expertise being Languages. I have considerable professional experience in other sectors and have previously worked at UBS, Standard Chartered and DU360.
Rob Dancey BA (Hons) Oxon. MSc Oxon.
Having graduated from Brasenose College, Oxford in 2011 with a BA in Geography, I have since gone on to gain an MSc in Latin American Studies from Linacre College, Oxford. I've been tutoring Geography, Maths and Biology for the past four years and I've taken great satisfaction from helping students, aged from 6-18, realise their academic potential. Having also spent much time volunteering to tutor children for whom English is not their first language I've developed a great appreciation of how teaching methods must be tailored to the individual.
Rhiannia Wood BA (Hons) Oxon.
Having attended the Lady Eleanor Holles School in Hampton, I went on to read Classics and English at Exeter College, Oxford. I am applying to train as a barrister next year at City Law School in London. Since the summer, I have been tutoring privately in both Classical languages (Latin and Ancient Greek) and English language and literature from the age of eight upwards. I have prepared students for 9+ entry to King's College, Wimbledon and 13+ Common Entrance and Scholarship entry to Eton, Winchester and Harrow. Through volunteer work during which I taught in Nepal, I have learnt how to teach English as a foreign language focusing on grammar, spelling and sentence construction. I also specialise in instructing pupils on the art of essay writing and analysis of literary texts.
Neal Shasore, BA (Hons) MSt Oxon.
Having studied at King's College School, Wimbledon, I graduated with a first in my undergraduate degree in history of art at Wadham College, Oxford. I stayed on for a Masters in History of Art and Visual Culture, and am currently researching for a doctorate in the History of Architecture at St. John's College, Oxford. My research focuses on British architecture of the interwar period. I am able to teach history of art to degree level; History, English and History of Art to A-Level or IB standard; Oxbridge entry preparation, and general essay-writing and study skills. I have tutored undergraduate international students on exchange programmes at Oxford colleges, as well as at Easter and Summer residential revision courses based in Oxford. The latter involved teaching 15 – 17 years olds the history of Oxford's Art and Architecture as well as Oxbridge entry preparation. My interests centre around art, architecture and culture more broadly. I enjoy helping students unpack what may seem difficult tasks or problems at first, but which are ultimately well within their capabilities.
Genevieve Dawson BA (Hons) Oxon.
Having graduated from Oxford with a First in Music I began teaching piano, singing and academic subjects for a range of ages and abilities. As a singer I have performed with world leading jazz bands at the North Sea Jazz festival and had my own work performed by professional ensembles in London and Oxford. I also lived in Egypt for some time managing a community education project and gained experience there teaching English as a foreign language.
