These are sketches from the first chapter of the lonely flame AU.

Thanks to a letter of introduction given by Neolith, Kabbu and Hoaxe were able to take Maki's test and become explorers.

As their first assignment, the pair are ordered to scout the area around the entrance to Snakemouth Den.

Vi is furious to see two new recruits sent to Snakemouth Den, where she want to go, after being rejected by Eetl to become an explorer.

She follows them stealthily.

Those two men don't look very strong. One in particular seemed unable to fight, just giving instructions to the beetles.

They're bound to struggle... and Vi is there to help them out in a dashing, cool way when they're in danger! Then those two would praise Vi, and Maki would hear about it and approve Vi as an explorer!

Vi did not intend to team up with Kabbu and his team. She wanted to be an explorer on her own, without companions.

Hoaxe notices that Snakemouth Den is full of traps and that none of these traps are now activated now.

Hoaxe and Kabbu move ahead gradually, being vigilant.

Thanks to their slow steps, Vi was able to catch up with them.

However, Vi encounters inichas on the road and she is injured in the back...

Here's sketches of my AU what I'm thinking of...Hoaxe joins Team Snakemouth!

I am having a lot of fun thinking about this...

It begins with Hoaxe's late departure from Wasp Kingdom and his encounter with Kabbu and Neolith in the desert.

Hoaxe got information about the crown in Wasp Kingdom, deciphered the ancient Roach language (he delivered Bugnish so fast, he must have had the ability to learn at least one more word) and found it in the desert.

Once in the desert, Hoaxe happens to find Neolith, who happens to be an archaeologist, and tries to get information from him about the site where the crown lies.

Hoaxe wanted to threaten Neolith to get information from him.

However, Neolith and Kabbu have stepped into the arrow worm's nest and as a result, he ends up helping them.

The place where they escaped from the arrow worms happens to be the ruins Hoaxe was looking for.

They offer to accompany Hoaxe as he tries to enter the ruins. Hoaxe tried to refuse, but the two men said they did not want the treasure, so he allowed them to follow him...

Kabbu and Neolith decided to accompany him, half out of gratitude for their help and half out of concern. Hoaxe had a knowledge of the ancient Roach language and the observational skills to spot traps and tricks at all costs, but he knew nothing else! He did not know that this area was the land of the Bee Kingdom, or even that explorers existed...

Kabbu's power and Neolith's knowledge (Hoaxe could read Roach's language, but knew as little about the lore of the area) was a great help in progressing through the ruins.

At the deepest part of the ruins, belostoss appears before the three.

Hoaxe's fire did not work on the hard, water-soaked epidermis, Kabbu and Hoaxe were able to defeat them by working together.

However, in the room where the ancient crown was supposed to be, the floor had collapsed and led to an underground water vein, and the crown Hoaxe was looking for had been washed away by water...

This is the prologue of this AU, Hoaxe and Kabbu's first adventure.

After this, Kabbu and Neolith return to Defiant Root with Hoaxe, who has fainted from the long journey to the desert, the continuous fighting and the despair of not finding the crown.

Doctor Isau tells them that Hoaxe is scarred and malnourished and must have lived in a very bad environment....Kabbu takes a lot of care of Hoaxe when he regains consciousness. This is a new experience for Hoaxe and he is very confused.

Neolith had his suspicions that Hoaxe might be dangerous, but at the same time he had high regard for his talent as an explorer. Above all, he wanted to help this young bug who would have lived in these terrible circumstances.

The underground water vein from which the crown was washed away connects to the river in the Ant Kingdom. The ruins seem to have been destroyed a long time ago and may have been washed up somewhere in the river by now.

Becoming an explorer in the Ant Kingdom will help you find what you are looking for.

Neolith wrote a letter recommending Kabbu and Hoaxe as explorers and handed it to them.

Kabbu, Fuff, and Hoaxe at the final stage of AU

The final boss of AU is still Hoaxe...but he doesn't use axe, fighting only with fire magic.

Hoaxe continued to practice magic throughout his journey. As a result, his magical skill is very high now. Moreover, he has continued to learn how to fight from his team...

He has no obsession with making himself look like a king. And he's not caught off guard. All he has now is determination.

It is a delightful imagining that friendship with Kabbu and his friends makes Hoaxe a fearsome enemy!

The lonely flame

This is the path that Hoaxe follows in my AU

He takes a very different path because he meets Kabbu and his friends, but his destination still leads him to dark...Giant's Lair.

In this AU, Kabbu and his team's final enemy is still Hoaxe, but Hoaxe's purpose are completely different from those of "the Wasp King".

When Hoaxe first met Kabbu and Neolith, he naturally only intended to use them.

But Kabbu, and the Defiant Root people around him, were kind... above all, there was too much in the world that Hoaxe did not know!

(Honey in particular became his favourite)

Hoaxe accepted Neolith's proposal to become an explorer of the ant kingdom, partly because of the treasure he sought, but also because he understood his own ignorance.

For Hoaxe, Vi and Leif's first impressions were terrible...for each other.

But their relationship changes as Kabbu intercedes and as Hoaxe himself learns more about the world.

Unaware of the outside world and unable to understand the minds of others, Hoaxe often asks them awful questions.

He asks Vi because of his ignorance of 'FAMILY'..."Why don't you become sisters with other bees that aren't Jaune?"

He asks Leif because it is also relevant to Hoaxe's own wishes..."Isn't it a chance to leave 'Leif' behind and become a completely new you?"

Their answers - and their actions - make a big change to Hoaxe.

Days at Bugaria. Many adventures. Many encounters. Lots of new knowledge. Above all, companionship... friends.

Hoaxe's values change significantly.

Hoaxe's biggest influence is, of course, Kabbu.

Kabbu's kindness and self-sacrifice lead Hoaxe to stand up to the Mothfly King.

To defeat the Mothfly King, who wears ancient crown, he joins forces with other explorers and termites, forcing uncontrolled flames to be controlled...Hoaxe used his flame magic for break up mothflies, even if himself burns.

He became one of the heroes who saved two kingdoms - the ants and the termites!

But it is the spirit learned from Kabbu, and also that he still can't understand the feelings directed towards himself... will also lead Hoaxe to the Giant's Lair...

This AU will have a happy ending! I consider this AU because I want to make Hoaxe be happy...

First exploration

In the first playthrough I heard about the 'fly boy who bought the crown' just after defeating the False monarch. This is where this misconception was born.

My misconceptions were cleared up after I saw the ending, but this idea kept lingering in my head...

Due to the delay in Hoaxe reaching the crown, the ancient crown is now in the hands of Mothflys. This monster would cause great damage to the Ant Kingdom and to the Termite Kingdom...

This is an idea for later in the story.

Fuff accompanies Team Snakemouse because of a major incident at a peace conference between the Wasp Kingdom and the Ant Kingdom.

Due to unavoidable circumstances, he helps the Team not as a general, but in his capacity as a former Wasp bombers member who is an expert in using bombs.

Hoaxe eats honey pancakes for the first time

This is my oc Avis...General of the Wasp Kingdom 2nd Army.

She is known as a rational and kind wasp, but in fact she is a ruthless schemer.

She is born from the previous queen. Avis loves her elder sister, Vanessa II, very much. She chooses no means to ensure that Vanessa is at peace.

She is the mastermind behind several incidents (in this AU, it was she who asked Astotheles to capture Kabbu and his friends).

She then uses the peace talks to trap Elizant and Kabbu and the others, and attempts to kill them in Wild Swampland.

Her behaviour is based on her distrust of Elizant II.

Elizant II destroyed with childish fury the peace that the former Wasp Queen...her mother...had managed to achieve by persuading the people.

If Ant Kingdom gets the Everlasting Sapling, Elizant may now destroy Wasp Kingdom in her childish rage...

(Note that in the Canon timeline, Avis was ordered by Hoaxe to stop Dead Landers and left for dead in The Giant's Lair)

I don't want to make too many OCs, but I really needed them for the AU storyline...this is also my headcanon.

Walther...General of the Wasp Kingdom 1st Army.

The 1st Army is an infantry unit, mainly spear and drill soldiers.

Walther is a wasp of the previous queen's generation, hates other races and does not want peace with other nations.

Avis...General of the Wasp Kingdom 2nd Army.

The 2nd Army is a flying soldiers with wasp scout as its core. They conduct reconnaissance and intelligence.

Wasp Kingdom has a secret agreement with Bee Kingdom about distressed people, and it is also Avis' job to mediate these exchanges.

Avis is one of the last wasps born in the previous queen's generation.

Avis do not completely dislike other species... except ants. However, she does not reveal this and maintains a calm and peaceful demeanour. Hence Avis is perceived as a moderate.

Fuff is a general of the 3rd Army. He's the leader of a Special Forces unit, mainly of bombers!

Hoaxe insisted that he was fine and would leave for the Ant Kingdom now...and this is the only time Kabbu has ever seen the always smiling Dr Isau get really angry.

Kabbu was determined never to anger Isau.

"Oh...I'm sorry! Your quilt fell out, so..."

"(Sigh)... Don't have to do that!"

(His movements... was like something attacked him.

What terrible conditions has he lived in?

He said he came from the north. North...perhaps outside Bugaria...Dead Land? How can it be?)

Hoaxe stayed with Kabbu's room at Defiant Root for a while.

Hoaxe regained consciousness and immediately tried to leave for the Ant Kingdom, however, doctor Isau stopped him from staying in this town until he was enough to rest. Neolith also stopped him, saying he would help Hoaxe if he waited until he himself had compiled a report. He reluctantly decided to stay in Defiant Root.

Kabbu was often surprised by Hoaxe's wild beastly behaviour. He did not know the obvious and was wary of all his surroundings...During the half-month spent in Defiant Root, Kabbu became very keen to protect Hoaxe.

Kabbu's this thoughts turn into clear determination when he is recommended by Neolith to join the explorers with Hoaxe.
