Lord of Heroes Ficlet: Macarons.

(Can be seen as Mikhail x Astrid or a friendship ficlet.)

"Are you okay, Mik?"

Mikhail looks over his shoulder at the approaching figure, his face painted in a mixture of perpetual calm and soft shock. It's none other than Astrid, one of the newest additions to an ever-growing cast of colorful, always-surprising characters.

She seems to be hiding something, with her hands behind her back, but then again, she's playful in nature. He pays it no mind, as he's surrounded by a wide variety of quirks and oddities.

Despite being a part of the Citadel for several weeks, he's not yet accustomed to the mannerisms of Lord Aerynne's particularly rambunctious knights, Astrid being no exception. But she's approaching him with a look of genuine concern, and it is very much appreciated. "I've been better," he tells her, regret gently painting his eyes. The plaza's flowing waters frame him as he turns to face her. He sighs, reliving a memory that's hard to bear. "I missed it."

"Missed it?" Astrid asks, tilting her head, her eyes widening in confusion. "What're you talking about?"

"The macaron sale," Mikhail admits, frowning. "Lyn needed my help again, so I missed the 'buy one, get one free' sale. Seems like I never get enough macarons."

"Well fret no more," Astrid beams at him, revealing what she had been hiding behind her the whole time-a pink box. She opens it with a jubilant, electric smile, revealing a rather large assortment of colorful macarons. 

"Ta da! I know you're super into these things, and Lyn told me you were giving her a helping hand today, so I decided to scoop a few of them up for you!" 

There's no shortage of astonishment that lights up Mikhail's eyes. "Why?"

"You like 'em," she confesses, shoving the box at him. "What reason did I need other than that? Gotta scoop up those Social Link points whenever I can, right?"

"I don't know what you're saying half of the time, but..." 

Mikhail gives her a rare treasure: a smile. "...thank you."
