so i’m thinking of doing this fic that’s basically a modern au of the south asian countries. it’s centred around bangladesh (bc i’m bengali) and it’s just day to day stuff with some angst sprinkled in (ofc). i don’t really have a plot but do you think it sounds good. i’m asking u bc u seem like the godparent of south asian hetalia to me. you were my guide when i first entered the fandom and still are.
WOW..... TH-THATS A REALLY HUGE PRAISE DUDE.... LIKE THANK YOU SO MUCH IM TRULY HONORED TO MAKE STUFF THAT PPL LOVE, ALONG WITH INSPIRING YOU TO CREATE BUT WOW... DEM BIG WORDS..... I HOPE I DON’T DISAPPOINT.....

And yeah that sounds good! My advice to you would be general narrative writing tips: What kind of audience is your story intended for? Just yourself? Hetalia fans? Or anybody with some knowledge abt South Asian geopolitics/culture? What do you hope to achieve? Show a new lens on historical/geopolitical events from a uniquely human yet inhuman perspective? Make fun light-hearted comparisons between diff countries and cultures? You don’t have to choose one thing and stick to it to a T, but remain aware that some aims will be harder to pull off simultaneously versus alone- and of course ***research*** (link to my general historical research tips, tho this is more focused on culture and groups than it is abt historical analysis)
Also, for as much as I love the south asians, I don’t think I am (or even should!) be the end-all be-all on what kinda content is “best”- for one, I don’t think anybody should have that level of control on fandom, and two, I myself am not South Asian, and at the end of the day, I think it’s the South Asian creators and fans in this fandom who would be better able to judge the accuracy than I ever could! I would encourage south asian fans chime in your thoughts below!
