Absolute Gallery is a small business. We are very proud and honored to offer you handmade, American goods created by artisans-who are also small business owners. When you visit Absolute Gallery, I hope you will see more than just the objects that are available for sale, but see the people who craft the items. You can learn their names and faces; what inspires them to create and where they live. We just finished American Craft Week, an annual event created to celebrated the American Handcrafted movement; “I Buy Nearby” Weekend was 2 weekends ago and Small Business Saturday is about 6 weeks away. These are all events created to celebrate the economic impact of small business. Studies indicate that when you shop small, local businesses at least 50% of what you spend stays in the local economy. When you shop small, local and handmade you are impacting not only our local economy but the economy of the artisan who made the item. My contribution to #LoveLansingArts mitten project. This will be auctioned at the Green Door in Lansing, February 2019 to support Lansing Michigan School arts programs. (Where yours truly started to hone my craft...thank you Lance Shade)

You’ve heard me talk about Zentangles. You’ve also probably heard me mention that Lansing, Michigan Artist Jane Reiter is demonstrating Zentangling at Absolute Gallery for American Craft Week. Well, she will be at Absolute again on Friday from 4:30 -7 pm! These images are zentangles that I did; with the exception of the sign. I watched Jane do a demonstration, she walked me through some basic “tangles” and now I’m hooked. It is very relaxing. And in this day and age, we all could use some relaxation. So come see us Friday and try your hand at an art form where there are NO MISTAKES! How awesome is that? Maybe I’ll even join you. I’d like to introduce you to Nathaniel Ostrom. We are pleased to have a selection of his hand blown glass pumpkins and Halloween orbs available to accent your fall home décor! And best of all they are handmade and LOCAL! Nathaniel E. Ostrom is a local artist from Okemos, Michigan. His beginnings in glass blowing originated 30 years ago when he became fascinated with scientific glass blowing in Canada. After moving to Okemos 27 years ago, he met Dave Porter, owner of Fireworks Glass Studio of Williamston and started his career in studio glass blown art. Over the past 6 years, Nathaniel has studied under artists Dave Porter and Rhonda Baker and uses his creative talents to develop original designs that he brings to Absolute Gallery.
