it had been a  n i g h t m a r e. constant ⸻ pain so deep it chipped bone. they chipped away at him. laughing. haunting smiles and heckles. he had dreamed of their blood warm against his skin. the taste of their  m e a t  in his mouth. the wolf dreamt of ripped flesh & feasts. he dreamed of REVENGE so visceral it brought excitement. it kept him - - sane. sane but not domesticated. a feral nature reclaimed him. years of pain. no savior. years of torture. no release.

he had escaped. (somehow). and found strength to return to the one his soul called to. he had made, yet felt the darkness consume him. he fell. deeper and deeper until there was nothing but blood again. blood & death. he jerked awake from the nightmare with a snarl and a slash of claws in empty air.

Midgard was different than he had believed it would be. The air had felt dense. THE ATTACK HAD COME WITHOUT WARNING. senses obscured by the smell of cooking meat from a long day of work. his name had been on their lips, his scent present on their skin. wolves who hated themselves for their affliction hired by human hand. the first deep wound suffered had been sharpened claws plunged into his very spinal cord to render his legs useless so the attack could be a SAVAGE frenzy of tooth & claw. even as bone stitched back together he could feel the press of boots against breaking ribs. they were smart to blindside him. his roar was earth shattering as the pain turned all his nerves to electric current. it was not going to happen again. there were eight wolves. it would not be enough. eyes glowing brightly, his canines snapped and held onto the meat of thigh, hearing the reward of a SCREAM of pain even as a blade stabbed into his side to the hilt. he ripped the flesh, chewed and spat it out as he finally could stand again. wavering on his feet they attacked as one, as a PACK. claws out, linc attempted to defend himself despite how they ATTACKED so aggressively. intelligently. keeping him in a constant state of healing to keep him weakened. one tossed a flash of light in his eyes, blinding him long enough to knock him to his back again, following through with claws stabbing him deep into his gut, causing him to ROAR in agony.

HE PAUSES what he's in the midst of doing as Logan emerges from his seemingly endless stream of calls that he'd bee trapped on since early this morning. The past few days had essentially boiled to that very fact, but the expression on his face suggests even HE tires of them. More than usual at least.

"Y'look like death."

Another pause follows, his eyes sizing up the other man for a second before he gets up, book set to the side as he stretches a little bit. Realizing he's been sitting in the same place for what felt like hours.

"Fancy me makin' up an excuse t'pull ya away or nah? Cuz I can definitely make that happen if need be."

The ritual should have worked. Or it could have, if Julian’s mind hadn’t been fogged from the night out he had previously. Round two. He had a candle off by half-an-inch. Magic was fucked. His hands clapped together, the somanic gestures applied and — – he found himself in someone else’s apartment, in a familiar tower. Great. He tried to remember where his grandfather hid his liquor — – but stopped as a figure came into view. Blurred but still able to make out the man’s shape he waved him off. “Look, I didn’t order room service unless you come with a fifth of gin and a dash of bourbon to wash it down with.”

— BIOGRAPHY:

leo's history is somewhat hazy. he recalls snippets before his initial shift ( c.2003 ). what's still ingrained in him is that he was born on a sheep farm in the carpathian mountains, he and his 11 other siblings were raised primarily by his grandmother. as both his grandfather and father spent the days tending the farm and animals. his grandmother died suddenly. his grandfather never recovered. his father left one day and never came back.

he can't remember what happened to his siblings. they just weren't there anymore. his first shift was painful beyond measure. he was all alone, caged underground. having been captured ( actually sold into captivity ) to be used as muscle to detour anyone with ill intent. he was sold several times over because it was difficult to reign him in. he barely knew of his humanity by the time 2011 rolls around.

a supernatural bar on the outskirts of a town. there had been rumors that a rogue wolf was lingering nearby ( said rogue being leo ). up until that point, his experiences with alphas were not the best. wolves in general, given most of his formative years, are difficult for him to trust.

in walks, logan stark. their first few encounters would go as you'd normally expect. lots of growling, snarling and generally unpleasant. but it didn't detour logan. it was almost 9 months worth of not giving up. there was something different about this one.

it's what makes the beta both formidable and protective in that same instance. you do not cross his alpha, that's the whole of it. he'll fight for him, with him, die for him and kill. lay absolute waste. he really sees red when his alpha is harmed ( a coping mechanism for his inner fears ).

logan was patient. despite how troublesome his beta proved to be. it wasn't smooth sailing but everything eventually settled. there's been a few instances since, though they're very rare. logan not giving up on leo through all this is what made the bond easy to accept.

it's a bond that's only strengthened as the years pass.
