It's catch up game time, folks!

Music The last three songs I listened to are - Half of Something Else (the Airborne Toxic Event), - All I Ever Wanted (the Airborne Toxic Event as well) - and an interpretation of the 3rd movement of Tchaikovsky violin concerto in D major by George Gao on an erhu [this one] The first two one never fail to make me think about @boardwalkcoven . She used to draw and post here, but deleted all her art accounts. I can still find some pieces I reblogged from her [here] thanks to tags but yeah... appart from that, it's lost to tumblr...

Movie / series Last movie I watched? O boi, I haven't watched a movie in a loooong time. Can't remember. Last series been more recent (Shadow and Bones), but it's been a little disappointing. It be like that when I watch things because I've been hyped up by fanart: the fandom is so much more creative, diverse and talented that the media it's based on seldom holds the bar (yeah I know the netflix series is based on a book series, no I haven't read it).

Books Currently reading Manacled, by @senlinyu because I like to hurt?? Apparently?? (If you go read, heed the tags).

Cravings In no particular order: - a consistent sleep schedule / a time machine - a (coffee-free) berry tiramisu (this one I'm gonna do today) - a ✨✨ ginormous gay flag ✨✨ in my living-room (I've been meaning to sew one for ages)

Newsflash : butts are gendered apparently.

I mean, it’s complicated and I would need hours to properly address the subject, but short answer for all the young artists following me who might benefit from the information: butts really aren’t gendered enough for it to be relevant, @young artists out there you CAN just use “male” reference pictures or tutorials to draw women’s butts. If you truly want to be accurate in your designs, find reference pictures of the body types you want, and try to understand how things work from there, rather than apply preconceived notions, and I don’t know if you really needed me to tell you that but I figured that, just in case, I’d say it anyway.

Hint at the longer answer that I will not type because it’s too long: body types tend to be gendered, and if you are in the process of developing a style, the stylistic choices you make are going to influence how you draw butts, and you might end up drawing “gendered” butts for stylistic choice. It’s okay to do so if that feels comfortable to you, but I want you all to be my witness, if you draw men like they come out of actual reference pictures and women like they come out of screenshots you took of porn, I AM going to come into your house and break all of your pens one by one before leaving the sharp tips all around your bed for you to step on.

Last movie: Les gardiennes, dir. Xavier Beauvois. Not a lot happens, but the photography is so beautiful...and I need a recording of Iris Bry singing La chanson des blés d'or <3.

Currently reading: Mémoires d'Hadrien by Marguerite Yourcenar, some of Anatole Le Braz's collections of Breton folk tales and legends, and my copy of Bernard Vinot's Saint-Just arrived just recently, so that's next on my to-read list!

Currently watching: Vikings with my sister.
