The mechatronics lab was quite empty when you arrived there that day. Which was quite understandable, considering the midterms were only a week away. Even the most enterprising students of Insomnia Tech had to abandon their startup dreams for a couple of weeks in order to chase the passing grades.
A direct violation to this rule was the presence of Cindy, whose bright yellow jacket was like a beacon among the empty white working benches. As soon as you saw her, you immediately made a beeline in her direction.
"Hey, Cindy," you offered a smile with your greeting. "Are you busy now?"
Cindy didn't even look up from the circuit board that she was soldering. "Well, what does it look like to ya?" she asked back.
You didn't miss the cold sarcasm in her voice. Sighing, you dropped your backpack and sat down on the empty chair next to Cindy.
"Look, I know the last time we saw each other was not in the best term," you began. "And I did notice that you've been avoiding me lately, so…"

More on S.P.A.N.C.C
'Individually the companies were formidable. Together they were unstoppable. A coalition of monopolies that eventually managed complete supremacy.' The companies formed their coalition in 2040. S.P.A.N.C.C earned favour by strategically selling products and services to a global market. From AI tools, to military tech, to vaccines, cures and sustainable energy resources. Their biggest funds came from commercial space flights. The profits of which went into an asteroid mining project and building a research centre on the moon. By 2050 they established a small Lunar colony for research purposes. By 2080 the colonies were expanded to accommodate people. S.P.A.N.C.C gained more influence by demanding more access to land and access and threatened trade withdrawals of now coveted and essential resources, if they were not met. Eventually, U.N and S.P.A.N.C.C joined hands to form the Global Confederate and this further cemented their hold. Over the next few years, carbon emissions dropped. Civil wars were interrupted. Education standards and outreach improved. True globalization was envisioned and somewhat realised. Their total take over started with standardizing education, training of the protective services and eventually law, order and politics. With globalized cryptocurrency conversion - They gained stability and essentially monopolized the development of the world. Their philosophy is individuality amidst a united world citizenry. The details about the individual companies aren't too relevant to the drabbles. Once again, it is an attempt to show the good and the bad. It can also help to know the nuances of where some of my characters are going to work/study and what their jobs entail. Apart from that, I spent way too much time on this for some inexplicable reason, and so, I must share it. A slightly scroll-y post below the cut, because it features some art of the company runners!
Here is a collage of sketches for the folks that run the companies of S.P.A.N.C.C. I am learning by tracing and editing very particular photos of what I consider to be ‘face-claims’ for my characters. They’re peripheral characters that’ll feature in my content occasionally.

Hime blushed, thinking of the root of her passion having started after watching different mech anime, like Zoids, Gundam, or the ultimate magic girl robot combo Magic Knight Rayearth. She perked up and her eyes lit up "Y-you have a Gaster too? My b-best friend is a Gaster. H-he helped me make a mech body for a ghost of a friend w-who wasn't ready to move on." she bounced a little excitedly.

PFS: Finn Russo has been personally selected for Project Atlas by Miss Murakami based off of his aptitude test results, educational history and personal interviews. His mother, Dana Russo, is a lead on the biology team and brother, Nathan Russo, was also selected to join the Atlas Ranger initiative.
Miss Murakami assigned Finn to an apprenticeship under Anita Holcomb, the lead engineer of Project Atlas so he could train under her with the goal of officially joining the engineer team once he’s of age. 
Finn has displayed a great wealth of knowledge about mechanics and repair for his age, his initial exams and school placement tests showing top of his class in scores. According to him, his proficiency in his chosen field is largely due vocational summer training courses he’s taken since the age of nine, and he’s taken some university courses alongside his high school courses as of this report. He’s been noted as highly eager to learn and a very hands-on student. 
From personal interviews F. Russo seems very passionate about problem solving and learning how machines work. This, along with his youth and the dedication his family has shown in support of the Atlas Initiative lead to him being selected by Miss Murakami herself. 
While on Atlas Station, Finn will serve under Holcomb and take directions from her on maintaining station systems, repairing tech(within his rating jurisdiction) and responding to work orders. He will also be required to update certifications and take courses to further broaden his horizons. 
Additional Notes: 
*So far, from the psych evaluations, interviews, and observations, Finn is a well-rounded young man with a sense of humor and a positive outlook on life. He’s been shown to be socially capable amongst his peers both in school and in the Atlas training program. His effect on others is often galvanizing and he both gives and receives support when it comes to teammates during mission training exercises. Finn is well-liked and(in this auditor’s opinion) well-suited for the mission. 
*Miss Murakami is aware of Finn’s past history with his estranged father, court records and interviews with Dana Russo denoting that Finn has been a victim of physical and emotional abuse in the past. Since the incidents, Finn has been in therapy and has been encouraged to continue therapy once he arrives on station. 
*Finn Russo should be kept in mind for PR and outreach once the crew arrives on station.
