It takes an incredible amount of hard work over time to learn to spin a rifle of any weight. If you spin a heavier military rifle, great! If you spin a lighter marching band color guard rifle, great! ⭐Both, rifles, when used appropriately, can create the same amount of effectiveness and audience engagement. ✖️Being disrespectful to #guardies like @j.e.n.n.aaaa & @punkrockwhitegirl because they "only" spin a rifle weighing a couple of pounds, is ridiculous! Incorrect staffs used here, but this is a great picture to bring up a very good point. 🇺🇸Only the Army matches with the left hand on the harness cup all the time. ⭐Thumb position for the left hand: the TC seems to show the thumb in front of the staff in the drawing. There isn't any textual guidance. The thumb in front doesn't provide any of the control you need. Using #AnglePort is a good way to communicate to others around your color guard that you are not performing. A salute is still rendered to the passing American flag because it is not cased. This position is used by the Army, Navy, and Air Force when formally transporting colors to and from a ceremony (colors presentation, parade, etc.).
