“The one for whom it sings, I believe she’ll come to me, when the time is right,” Maz said softly, placing the hilt delicately atop the other items within the wooden chest. “I can see a vague outline of her. She’ll come for you, Ben. She’ll fight for you. She’ll fight with you.” The implications of that sentence were not lost on him, but something within him was struggling to comprehend his earlier discovery, and he threw his legs over the side of the bed as she gathered the chest into her arms to take it away.

“Who did it belong to?” he asked, his voice soft even to his own ears, one hand reaching toward her as if to stop her and demand an explanation. Maz hesitated, then half-turned, her eyes swimming with an emotion Ben had no name for. Even from this distance, he could see the way her hands shook, and he knew her revelation would not be an easy one to digest.

He could not have been more right.
