🍡Edible Tapioca Beads Sensory Activity🍡 * 🍡Recommended age for activity: 2yrs +. 🍡I did this activity with my 1yr old, but, I sat beside him the whole time to make sure he wouldn't eat a handful of tapioca pearls! 🤣. Because he definitely would if I didn't. 🍡This activity is so much fun for kids and really enhances their sensory experience. 🍡This activity Is also great for motor skills development, to review colours and counting (if your toddler is old enough) and talk about textures. 🍡Make sure this activity is right for your child. Small children need to be supervised 100% of the time as they will try to eat the beads!!! They are taste safe, but, kids should be discouraged from doing so. * 🍡What you need: 🌟Tapioca pearls/beads (got mine from the Asian super market). 🌟Vinegar. 🌟Food Colouring (optional). * * 🍡How to: 🌟Cook tapioca pearls according to instructions in packaging (can get the quick cook ones). 🌟Once cooled and rinsed divide pearls in separate containers depending on the colours you want. I used 4 containes, for 4 colours. 🌟add 1tbs of vinegar in each of the containers, then add a bit of food colouring and mix. I used gel food colouring for brighter colours. 🌟I left the pearls for a couple hours so the beads would really absorb the colours. Though, I think an hours should be enough time. 🌟Give each container of pearls a rinse with cold water. 🌟Place all the colours in a large container and give to child to play with, add a few scoops for kids to play with beads as it makes it more fun. 🌟Children have such a blast once they start mixing and scooping 🎉. * #toddler#toddlerlife#toddlermom#toddlerfun#toddleractivities#kidsactivities#sensoryactivitiesfortoddlers#sensoryactiesathome#funwithtoddlerathome#kidsactivities#kidsactivitiesathome#makinglearningfun#makinglearningeasy#toddlerlearning#toddlerdevelopment#toddlerdevelopmentalgames#toddlerplay (at Toronto, Ontario)

🌈Rainbow Pom Pom Sensory Bottle🌈 * 🌟Such a fun activity for young kiddos & perfect for practicing colour recognition, hand-eye coordination, and concentration. 🌟Super easy, fast, and simple to make 🎉. 🌟To make it even more fun have your toddler place the pom poms inside the bottle. If your little one is still mouthing everything, supervise 100% of the time and discourage your child from doing so. My son Jacob is 13 months and still puts everything in his mouth, so, I supervised him 100% of the time. However, he had such a blast placing the pom poms inside the bottle, which already had water, that he didn't mouth any of them. 🌟Or, make the rainbow sensory bottle and give to your little munchkin to play with, above all be safe!!! We know our kids and know what we should, or, shouldn't let them do. My rule is: safety 1st! 😊. 🌟Read below for more details ⬇️⬇️⬇️. * 🌈What you need: 🌟Voss bottle, or, any clear bottle with smooth surface, the pom poms should fit through any water bottle opening. I used a Voss bottle as I already had one at home. 🌟Pom poms in assorted colours and sizes. 🌟Water. * 🌈How to: 🌟Fill the bottle 3/4 with water. 🌟Place pom poms inside. I used between 20-30 pom poms, all different colours and sizes. You can use more, or, less depending on preference. 🌟Fill the bottle all the way with water. 🎉That's it!! Hope your & your kiddos have a blast!! I know mine did😁😁😁. * #parenting#toddlerparenting#toddler#toddlemom#toddlerfun#sensorybottles#funwithsensorybottles#kidsactivities#kidsactivitiesathome#funwithtoddler#craftymommy#rainbowsensorybottle#makingreadingfun#makinglearningeasy#makinglearningsimple#funwithtoddler (at Toronto, Ontario)

🤹‍♂️Colour Ball Sorting🤹‍♂️ * ✨This is a very popular activity, but, I didn't start doing it with Jacob until a few days ago. Now have realized why it's so popular! It's such an easy activity for kids, fun and simple, but, really keeps little ones entertained! 🙌 🌟Best of all, is such a great activity to help young children develop hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, and colour recognition. 🌟I used matching colour stickers to indicate where each colour ball goes. Even if your little one is not matching colours yet, they're still working on other important developmental skills. * #toddlerdevelopmentalgames#craftymommy#makinglearningfun#makinglearningsimple#makinglearningfun#makinglearningeasy#toddler#toddlemom#toddlemom#parentinglife#toddlerlearningcolours (at Toronto, Ontario)

✨Sponge Blocks✨ * This week I'm really concentrating on colour recognition, and practice is key. So, got a few of the think foam kitchen sponges in bright colours. 🌟Then I realized they work great as blocks for young kids because they're light and easy to manipulate. My one year old handles them so easily, its fantastic! 🌟They can also be cut into shapes 🔺🔸🔹. 🌟Also, they're really great for getting little ones practicing colour recognition, fine motor skills, concentration, and hand-eye coordination. 🌟Jacobs had so much, and the beat part, he's play-learning! 🎉Happy Friday!! 🎉 * #toddler#toddlerfun#toddlerlife#toddleractivitiesathome#toddleractivities#makinglearningeasy#makinglearningsimple#makinglearningfun#craftymommy#toddlerdevelopmentalgames (at Toronto, Ontario)

✨Storytelling Props for Young Children✨ * 🦄Through imaginary games and storytelling children are more likely to adapt learning habits, develop their communication skills and improve their vocabulary. ✨Get kids making-up stories, using their imagination, and expanding their vocabulary with these super cute props. And, they're so easy to make! ✨Use animal puzzle pieces for toddler to include animals in his/her stories, as it makes it all the more fun. * 🌟Materials: felt (assorted colours), chenille stems (assorted colours), pom poms (assorted colours and sizes), blue wool, scissors, clear tape, and hot glue. 🌟To make the sun; first, cut a circle out of yellow felt, second, use hot glue to glue-on yellow and orange pom poms, placing one large pom pom in the middle. 🌟To make the rainbow, cut a piece of white felt in the shape of a small rainbow. Then, glue-on chenille stems to give the rainbow colours. Use scissors to cut the chenille stems into shape once glued, and use a bit of clear tape at each end of the rainbow to make sure the metal part of the stem won't poke kids. 🌟To make the lake, just cut a lake shape out of blue felt, and glue-on a blue chenille stem around the border. 🌟To make the grass, cut x2 large strips of green felt, each different shades of green, one shorter than the other, and one in waves and the other ones with peaks. Then, use mini pom poms to resemble colourful flowers. 🌟To make the cloud with rain, cut a cloud shape out of white felt. Then, use blue wool to make 4 strings coming out of the cloud, and glue-on blue mini pom poms as rain drops. * 🌟Source: http://www.1stplace.uk.com/the-importance-of-imagination-and-creativity-in-childrens-development/ * #toddler#toddlemom#parentinglife#mommylife#toddleractivitiesathome#toddleractivities#craftymommy#toddlerlife#toddlerandimagination#toddlerlearning#makinglearningfun#makinglearningeasy#diytoddlerstorytellingprops#storytellingprops

🌈🌈Colour Scavenger Hunt🌈🌈 🌟Learning colours is so important for preeschoolers: "color, it’s one of the most noticeable attributes of the world around us. For babies and small children, understanding colour is an essential building block they will use for learning in all areas of their life." 🌟Jacob and I had so much fun! These are all the green items we collected as indicated by the cube 🙌, its such a fun and interactive learning game! 🌟Need to keep making learning games for Jacob, fun and challenging at the same time! 🌟Source: https://www.iidc.indiana.edu/styles/iidc/defiles/ECC/tip-recognizecolors.pdf * #toddler#toddlerfun#toddlerlife#toddlermom#toddlerlearning#toddlerdevelopmentalgames#makinglearningfun#reusingplasticeggs#havingfunwithtoddler#makinglearningeasy#parentinglife#toddlerlearningcolours#toddlercolourgames (at Toronto, Ontario)

Color Scavanger Hunt 🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈 * 🌟Re-use your plastic eggs for this fun and colourful learning game. 🌟Check my previous post on "developmental interactive game," for details on how I made the colour cube. 🌟I used a colour cube to throw it with Jacob and them look for the same colour eggs, as indicated bu the cube, around the house. 🌟Once we found the same colour eggs, I pulled out a basket of items in all different colours, so we could pick the same colour items as the cube and egg. 🌟This is such a fun and great learning activity. It gets young kids practicing colour recognition, hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills and making cognitive connections. 🌟Hope you have lots of fun! I know we did! * #toddler#toddlerfun#toddlerlife#toddlermom#toddlerlearning#toddlerdevelopmentalgames#makinglearningfun#reusingplasticeggs#havingfunwithtoddler#makinglearningeasy#parentinglife (at Toronto, Ontario)

🤹‍♂️This is what the tapioca pearls look like the next day, a bit greenish as all the food dyes mix a bit more over night. 🤹‍♂️I can't stress enough, if you're doing this activity with smaller children they need to be aupervised 100% of the time, as they will try to eat the beads in a handful! I know Jacob tried to do so, but, ai was beside him to prevent and discourage him from doing so. 🤹‍♂️I would say the shelve life for them is a couple days. The first day, after Jacib was done playing, I stored them in the fridge with a bit of water so they wouldn't smush and become all sticky. 🤹‍♂️Jacob absolutely LOVED this activity, he just had a blast. It also gave me a good chance to talk to him about texture, colours, and what cold feels like. 🤹‍♂️Caregivers will also love this activity, the beads feel so good in your hands. Honestly, they're a ton of fun! 🤹‍♂️I also gave Jacob cups and a couple animals that like water elephant & hippo), so we could play with them and I could tell him why about those animals and why they like water. 🤹‍♂️The mess level of this activity is minimal, I used a large plastic container for Jacob to play with them, and to store them. To further minimize any mess, as the beads are quite sticky, I placed a large plastic recycling bag underneath. 🤹‍♂️Cheers!! 🎉 * #toddler#toddlerlife#toddlermom#toddlerfun#toddleractivities#kidsactivities#sensoryactivitiesfortoddlers#sensoryactiesathome#funwithtoddlerathome#kidsactivities#kidsactivitiesathome#makinglearningfun#makinglearningeasy#toddlerlearning#toddlerdevelopment#toddlerdevelopmentalgames#toddlerplay

🍡Edible Water Beads🍡 🌟Love how colourful they turned out! Kids love it!! * * 🍡According to research from the Michigan State University, young children use all their senses to explore objects and they file it away in their memories. Also, when children have sensory experiences, they store their whole body experiences in their “sensory memory.” We use our sensory memory to begin the process of understanding and gaining knowledge. * 🌟Source: http://msue.anr.msu.edu/news/cognitive_development_and_sensory_play * #toddler#toddlerlife#toddlermom#toddlerfun#toddleractivities#kidsactivities#sensoryactivitiesfortoddlers#sensoryactiesathome#funwithtoddlerathome#kidsactivities#kidsactivitiesathome#makinglearningfun#makinglearningeasy#toddlerlearning#toddlerdevelopment#toddlerdevelopmentalgames#toddlerplay (at Toronto, Ontario)

🌟Play is the way preschoolers learn about the world, only for them its not just play, but, the way they're starting to make sense of the world. 🌟Lately I've been combining puzzles, books and plastic/plush animals to maximize both playtime and Jacobs learning experience. I think it really helps young kids make connections. * 🌟I looked at some research, read below ⬇️⬇️⬇️⬇️ * 🔷Psychologists have determined that a child’s brain development is influenced significantly when a child acts on or manipulates the world around him or her. Puzzles provide that key opportunity. Children learn to work directly with their environment and change its shape and appearance when they work with puzzles. 🌟Working with puzzles helps kids develop fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, gross motor skills, shape/color recognition, memory, and setting small goals. 🌟Hope everyone having a great day! Cheers!! * 🌟Source: https://childdevelopmentinfo.com/child-activities/why-puzzles-are-good-for-your-childs-development/#.WO-3WTz3bYU * #toddler#toddlerdevelopmentalgames#toddlerlearning#toddlermom#toddlerfun#toddlerlife#toddlerlearningthrouhhplay#toddlerdevelopment#parentinglife#parentinginfo#toddleractivities#toddleractivitiesathome#makinglearningfun#makinglearningfunathome#makinglearningeasier#makinglearningsimple#makinglearningfunandeasy

🐄Playtime at Lunchtime🐎🐄🐖. * 🐎My son is loving animals lately, so, I decided to do some playtime during lunchtime. It provides a fun learning opportunity and he eats a lot better because he's distracted and having fun 🙌🙌. 🐖I paired plastic animals with board books and was teaching Jacob about farm animals, how they also eat and what they eat. So, he started feeding the horse carrots 🥕🐎🥕🐎. Kids are just so smart it amazes me!! 😁 🐎Are there any fun learning activities your toddler enjoys during mis meals? Would love to know!! 😊 🐄Happy Saturday!!🐖 * #kidsactivities#kidsactivitiesathome#toddlermom#toddlerlife#toddlerfun#toddlerlearning#toddlerlunch#toddlerlearning#makinglearningfun#makinglearningeasier#makinglearningsimple#makinglearningexciting#toddlerfunmeals#toddlerandlearningduringlunchtime (at Toronto, Ontario)
