In Malawi minibus drivers never fill up their buses with enough fuel. Instead, a driver carries spare fuel on board which he uses when the buses run out of fuel and huffs and splutters to a stop right in the middle of the road. This practice also causes unnecessary traffic jams on our roads because the vehicles behind get backed up and only start moving again when the offending bus has been refueled. A junk of a lorry on Masauko Chipembere Highway, unencumbered by lights of any sort, and also with no numberplates. Woe to him or her who would get involved into an accident with it because there was no piece of paper on its windscreen. When you're a ruling party in #Malawi, laws, rules and regulations don't apply to you. So your minibus can stop right in the middle of a lane to drop or pick up passengers. It pays to be in the Malawi Police Service. While Blantyre City officials have been busy slashing down any maize plants that we're too close to roads and streets, they haven't dared to touch the maize along the Limbe Police Lines even though some or the plants are also too close to the road. That isn't a surprise considering these are people who drive cars without any requisite documents and their minibuses always carry double the number of passengers. #MalawiansBehavingBadly #authority #abuseofoffice

A minibus being 'cleaned' at a stream in Limbe. This is also a favourite spot where used sacks are cleaned for resell to produce vendors. The Maselema-Kachere dual carriage-way project was abandoned a while back. The unfinished section of the road has not only morphed into a convenient truck stop, when need be, it's also a workshop. But let's look on the bright side, shall we. The road as it is now inevitably creates rush hour traffic jams. Which is a good thing. I can recommend the driver of this minibus to #Malawi(an) political parties who need robotic enforcers. Yesterday the idiot went out of his way to deliberately splash mud and dirty water on people waiting to catch one of the buses to town.
