“Zoo Miami is still head over heels for one of its newest additions, a baby Tree Kangaroo! The Tree Kangaroo birthing process is very unique. After a gestation period of approximately 44 days, the fetus-like young, called a joey, is born and crawls into the mother's pouch, where it attaches itself to nurse. The infant continues to develop during this lactation phase, which lasts about 10 months. ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Yesterday we shared a video of the baby in Mama’s pouch @zooborns but accidentally left out the picture of what the baby looks like now. Here’s baby at 3 months!”
