Episode 67 (S4E8) Thoughts
This is a long one.
1) Eren one shotting Reiner lmao.
2) The anime put a big emphasis on this scene too, what with Eren’s eyes widening and then the camera panning from Reiner to Porco! I’m 100% sure Eren saw a snapshot of chapter 119 here.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3) Love the music during this scene.
4) “At this point, I can’t exactly kill Reiner.” 👀 Eren clearly had enough strength left to fight though. He only paused and changed tactics after he noticed something. And he couldn’t kill Reiner here because he knew they’d meet again. Hence his “see you later, Reiner”.
5) Really happy they included more of Eren’s expressions in this episode. He looks so sad here, just like in the manga.
Tumblr media
6) Lmao I just noticed that Gabi technically succeeded in “killing Eren Jaeger” in the same way Eren is gonna succeed in “killing every last one of them” (“them” being the Titans).
7) The 3dmg action scenes are 👌🏼 this episode as well.
8) Armin is too pretty in MAPPA’s style. I think the short hair really made a difference in particular. It’s a better look on him.
Tumblr media
9) Eren really be hanging from a net with so much ease despite not being tied to anything. I could never.
10) Oh mannn, the EMA reunion was so good. You can really feel the intensity. I love how you can sense everything that’s packed into that silence.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
11) I’m sorry, but Eren’s expression here is like “who this bitch” 😂.
Tumblr media
12) I can’t remember this being in the manga, but I like the addition of Armin being horrified and instinctively wanting to intervene when Levi hits Eren, not just Mikasa.
13) UgHHH I’M SO MAD ONCE AGAIN. This line makes me so sick. It literally taints every single interaction between them. Like, I can’t look at the courtroom scene the same way if this is what Levi had to say about it after all these years 🤢.
Tumblr media
14) That burn though 😂. I love how defiant Eren is. Like sure, you can kick me, but you’re the dumbass who can’t read and comprehend (@ the fandom too).
15) There are so many beautiful shots of Eren this episode 😭.
Tumblr media
16) Floch is looking a lot better, thank God.
Tumblr media
17) It makes me sick whenever SoY cheer on for Eldia... But they don’t know the truth, so it’s not their fault. Even Eren spoke of reviving Eldia before he saw Ymir’s memories. I hope all SoY will know not to associate themselves with the Eldian Empire by the end though.
18) BITCH THAT SPRINGLESTEIN HUG 😭. IT MAKES ME SO EMO.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
19) Also, Jean is finally looking a lot more like himself in the anime. I’m glad they fixed his design.
20) That conversation though 😂💀. “Why grow a beard if you can’t eat it?” Iconic.
21) I love the cinematography of this scene, when Gabi and Falco are running. Amazing 👌🏼.
22) I’m loving Falco’s design this episode.
Tumblr media
23) You know, I was actually thinking about how Gabi succeeding in harming her enemy here while Eren could not stand up against the Titans during the Fall of Wall Maria is also there to show us the difference in their upbringing. Gabi already had military training at this point, whereas Eren was just a normal child.
24) Big props to Falco and Gabi’s VAs honestly 👏🏻. They nail it every time.
25) Gabi’s monologue with the subs actually gave me goosebumps. The music choice sets the scene so perfectly.
But honestly, when she said the lines “not knowing why any of this happened?” and “did you see it happen?”, I was like?? Hello? You know that Marley likes to colonize other nations and they specifically went after Paradis... It is literally not the same as the Fall of Wall Maria, where Paradisians did not at all know why they were being attacked. Don’t equate the two when you’re fully aware of Marley’s actions and took part in them.
Also, when she started going off about how they’re evil and blah blah blah, that just took away from everything she was saying at the start. Any sympathy I was feeling evaporated.
26) Man, there are so many beautiful shots in this episode. I’m obsessed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
27) I feel so bad for Lobov but he’s a prime example of why you can’t let your guard down in war... He died because he hesitated and underestimated a child.
28) I’m sorry but Gabi waxing poetic shit about how she’s gonna die an honourable death cracks me up.
29) Man, I feel so bad for Colt. If it wasn’t for the shit Reiner said to Falco...
30) Whyyyy did you ignore your sharp hearing skills and instincts @ Sasha??? Whyyyyyy???
31) Anyways, she looks so lovely here.
Tumblr media
32) I like how the shooting scene actually happens quickly and it doesn’t leave much room for you to process what happened, but then it all hits you later when Connie delivers the news.
33) That POV of the Paradisians running after Gabi and Falco is so unsettling. I feel bad for Falco cause he didn’t even do anything.
34) I just realized Sasha actually died a slow death...😞 She bled out over a few minutes at least.
35) Yelenaaaaa 😍.
36) Wait, so Pieck had an interest in people who were devout followers of Zeke...? Because she thought he was fishy or because she was one too? 😂
37) GAHHH HE IS SO PRETTY. THANK YOU MAPPA.
Tumblr media
38) Eren looked so shocked to see Falco and Gabi there though. I wonder if it’s because of Falco in particular? I’d like to think he was relieved to see him alive.
39) It makes me so sad and mad that Eren couldn’t even run out to check on Sasha because he was tied up like a prisoner, while Armin and Mikasa could.
40) Ahahaha I can’t wait until all those anime-onlys who shit-talked Zeke eat their own words.
41) Actually Jean, Yelena saved y’all because if Porco hadn’t made it to the battle, the WH would have remained in the hands of Marley.
42) Pretty Jaeger eyes 😍.
Tumblr media
43) BITCH HE NEVER ASKED YOU TO?? AND DON’T ACT LIKE YOU DID ALL THAT OUT OF THE GOODNESS OF YOUR HEARTS. YOU DID IT BECAUSE YOU JUST WANTED TO USE HIM 🤬. Y’ALL NEVER ACTUALLY CARED ABOUT SAVING HIM AS A PERSON.
Tumblr media
I just really hate how they have the audacity to try to guilt him here when they literally weaponized him for years as a child.
44) It’s called being smart. Which you wouldn’t know anything about since you’ve been a pure idiot ever since Erwin died 🙄.
Tumblr media
45) Anyways, Eren looks so beautiful in that shot 👆🏼.
46) He doesn’t need your trust, dumbass.
47) The buildup here was just phenomenal 👌🏽. I get goosebumps every time I watch this scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
48) The track they play here is also the one that plays in honour of Marco in season 1 😢.
49) RIP Sasha 😭. Thankfully, this won’t be the last time we see her though.
Tumblr media
50) Eren’s reaction when he hears Sasha’s last words... The sound he makes isn’t even purely a laugh...? First, his eyes widen in shock and he gasps as he’s reminded of that memory. Then he scoffs and chokes out a chuckle of disbelief/irony as he thinks back to that conversation on top of the Walls. Finally, as he realizes that Sasha won’t be around to see that vision come to life and that he failed in his wish to protect her, he grits his teeth in anger and despair. That last shot captures his devastation and pain perfectly.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
51) Anyways, phenomenal performance by Kaji. Since the level of emotion captured by the drawings was also on par with the manga, I’m really happy with the adaptation of this scene (The one thing I wish they kept was Zeke’s reaction to it).
And I’m so pleased with the redraw of that flashback. The background adds a warm ambience to the memory. They even blessed us with such a perfect shot of Sasha, capturing the innocence of her dream 😭.
Tumblr media
52) Ugh this part makes me so mad. No Jean, Sasha would have died due to your incompetence if Eren hadn’t done anything either.
Tumblr media
Overall, this was a perfect episode! The music choices were top notch (adding to the intensity, setting the perfect atmosphere), the voice acting delivered every time, and the drawings were rarely off. In fact, there were so many beautifully drawn shots. And I’m so happy Sasha got a good send off. Thank you MAPPA 💕.
As for the next episode, the preview looks so fucking good! I can’t wait to launch into all the flashbacks. Also, I’m glad we’re finally at the point in the plot where the Jaeger bros are fighting alongside one another. It’s surreal, but we’re officially halfway through the season...

Summer 2019 Anime Worth Watching
Summer is here, and with it brings another new season of anime! In case you’re feeling lost and want to find some new shows to pass the time, here’s some of the anime I think are worth checking out...because some really good shows tend to fly under the radar. I think there’s some genuinely interesting stuff this season, so hopefully you’ll find something you like too.
I also have a Winter list and a Spring list and a fall list now!
And here’s my master list for 2020
New Shows!
Given: A *cough* BL *cough* romance anime in which tsundere highschool guitarist Ritsuka Uenoyama is on the verge of losing his passion for music when he stumbles upon the sleepy-eyed Mafuyu Sato who constantly carries a guitar around that he doesn’t know how to play. Drama and musical shenanigans ensue. This was by far my most anticipated show of the season, because I happen to have read a few chapters of this manga and liked it a lot. The only reason I stopped was because I wanted to hear the music in this music oriented story...so naturally the anime makes me very happy. Not only is it sweet and cute with great animation, but it’s also hilarious. Sato is also basically a human incarnation of a lost puppy, and you just help but fall in love with him and the other characters! AND NOW WE HAVE TWO GAY MUSIC SHOWS THIS SEASON!
Tumblr media
Dr. STONE: An action adventure anime that takes place 3,700 years in the future after the world is struck with a mysterious phenomenon that turns the entire human race to stone. Our protagonists: the genius, scientific minded Senku Ishigami and the muscle-y comic relief Taiju Oki, must find a way to rebuild civilization and turn humanity back to normal using the POWER OF SCIENCE! It’s fun, good looking, and way more interesting than I thought it would be. I’m not very attached to the main characters yet, although it’s still early. I’m mainly sticking around for the plot, the comedy, and the answers to the crazy amount of questions I have after watching the first episode!
Tumblr media
Fire Force: An action/drama where super powered fire fighters must protect Tokyo from people who are spontaneously combusting while our hero Shinra must find out who started the fire that killed his mother. More than anything, I’d say this show is definitely worth watching for the cinematography and action because almost every second has been high flying dynamic animation that really grips you. It reminds me a lot of Soul Eater, the story and characters have a lot of potential, and you know an anime will be good when the girls have muscles too!
Tumblr media
If it’s for My Daughter, I’d Even Defeat a Demon Lord: Can you tell it’s based on a light novel? A slice of life set in a fantasy world where an adventurer named Dale stumbles upon an adorable lost little girl in the woods, who happens to be branded as a criminal. So of course Dale basically adopts her and tries to find out how she came to be with him. It’s basically fantasy School Babysitters without the tragic depth to it (but there’s room for potential). Yes, this is definitely the most wholesome show of the season, but it’s to be expected considering it’s basically Japan’s latest attempt to get people to have more babies. Personally, the most interesting aspect of this show is the fact that Dale and his “daughter” can’t speak the same language. Unfortunately, the light novel ends up pulling a Bunny Drop...so I sincerely hope the anime doesn’t try the creepy romance factor. So for now, if you feel like puking up some rainbows, give this one a try.
Tumblr media
To the Abandoned Sacred Beasts: An action drama where, during a civil war, one side used “forbidden technology” to enhance their soldiers and basically turn them into badass monsters. The only problem: the soldiers who were turned start to lose their humanity and end up killing humans for the fun of it. Now our protagonist must hunt down his fellow soldiers and kill them before it’s too late. Honestly, this show has some pacing issues and can be a bit stilted in terms of its character interactions, but what kept me watching was the last 5 minutes of the first episode. I was so not prepared for the roller coaster that was the first episode’s ending, and now I’m extremely intrigued. Besides it’s made by MAPPA so I would at least give it a couple episodes to see if it’s for you.
Tumblr media
Vinland Saga: The story of a young boy named Thorfinn’s journey to become a great warrior and while the adults deal with going to war. IT’S THE ONE WITH THE VIKINGS!!! It basically feels like a darker, grittier viking version of Moana. I’ve heard literally nothing but praise for this manga for so many years that my hopes skyrocketed as soon as I heard Wit was doing the adaption. And it has definitely lived up to the hype so far! It’s a great action historical drama to fill the void after Dororo. The only problem is no one will watch it because it’s on Amazon Prime.
Tumblr media
Kochouki: Wakaki Nobunaga: A fun brightly colored historical anime about the famous warlord Nobunaga when he was a young teenager. I honestly don’t know what the tone of this anime is going to be from here on out, because it’s going to go from “fun thieving shenanigans with pretty boys” to leading people into battle, but it got me interested. I know putting Nobunaga in an anime isn’t exactly original, but this one seems like a fun ride...and it looks gay as fuck.
Tumblr media
And I have to shout out some that haven’t premiered yet...just in case...
Try Knights: This one doesn’t come out until the end of July, but you bet your ass I’m going to be watching it because it’s an original anime about PRETTY BOYS PLAYING RUGBY! And I have a feeling it’s going to be very... different from the other resident rugby anime All Out.
Yokai Ningen BEM (Humanoid Monster BEM): Okay, this one’s not out yet either, but the trailer had a really cool vibe to it, so I’m including it anyway. It’s a remake of the 1968 anime in which a group of yokai who look like humans fight crime in the big city. If nothing else, the music is cool, and it’s made by Production I.G, so why not?
*UPDATE* The first episode finally dropped, and holy crap I’m so into this. It’s basically Durarara mixed with Psycho Pass mixed with Bungo Stray Dogs. The first episode has me completely hooked!
Tumblr media
Next seasons and continuations!
As always there are some leftovers from the spring season that are continuing into the summer that I highly suggest!
Carole and Tuesday: The musical sci-fi anime directed by Shinichiro Watanabe wherein a rich runaway named Tuesday meets a streetwise girl named Carole, and the two decide to start a band together. Now Carole and Tuesday must rise to stardom in a world dominated by android created music. It was by far my favorite new show of the spring, and if you can find a way to watch it (because it’s still not available legally anywhere aside from Japanese Netflix apparently) I wholeheartedly recommend it. It’s got the best and most diverse music I’ve seen in an anime in a long time, an interesting setting (apparently it takes place in the Cowboy Bebop universe!?), and very well rounded fun characters. And I'm dying for a soundtrack release with all the songs!!!!
Tumblr media
Fruits Basket 2019: Yes, the remake of the classic 2001 anime in which a girl moves in with a family who can turn into animals from the zodiac is getting a full run. And thank God because I just can’t say goodbye to it after only 12 episodes. It is so stunningly beautiful in both animation and story subjects that I don’t know what I would do without it. The characters feel so much more fleshed out, and I feel like I learn a lesson about life each week even though I already know most of what’s going to happen. If you never watched the original because thought you were too “cool” to watch a shoujo anime, give it a chance. Because if you think it’s just a generic love triangle romance show, you couldn’t be more wrong. The reboot is so good at portraying different kinds of love and how the presence of love and family can change lives AND IT’S JUST SO FREAKING GOOD!
Tumblr media
Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba: In case you missed Ufotable’s newest project, this is a shounen anime that follows a young boy named Tanjiro and his sister Nezuko who has been possessed by a demon and their journey to turn Nezuko back to normal while fighting demons along the way. I still feel like this is a pretty basic shounen anime story wise, but I really like the characters, especially the villains. It has some of the coolest fighting/power mechanics I’ve seen in awhile, and the animation is very cool and different!
Tumblr media
Ace of Diamond act 2: Our favorite shounen baseball anime is continuing into the summer. And I have very mixed feelings about this season so far. We are getting some fun new characters and some great scenes with the team, but the games are very...choppy and rushed. Apparently this is how it goes down in the manga, and we’re in for some good Sawamura development...but it’s still touch and go for me personally.
Tumblr media
That’s it for now. Most of these are available on Crunchyroll, except Vinland Saga, Carole and Tuesday, and Kochouki: Wakaki Nobunaga. Since Try Knights and Yokai Ningen BEM aren’t out yet, I don’t know where they will be available legally.
See you next season!

opinion  about Eldarya New Era
I’m late but as you know, playing all the routes, it takes some time, however now I’m ready to share with you, what I think of New was... Let’s start from the awakening of the guardian: I do not understand why people complain about the reactions of erika! , it seems to me that the writer has made very well understand his mood, especially the trauma of discovering it is 7 years, instead of 1 day, as erika instead naively thought. The characters you have complained some, not all, whether they were different or not at all emotional, in reality they were indeed, everyone manifests their emotions in a different way and does not mean that because they do not jump on the guardian or cry at them, don’t be happy about it.. Although in reality they all hugged and tightly squeezed themselves erika, so it is inaccurate to say they did not react.. From what I could read on facebook, tumblr and even here, this comes from the fact that after the speech no one goes to look for erika but she is the one to take the initiative.. As a friend of mine said on social media, Erika is in a state of shock right now, as well as post-traumatic awakening, if there’s one thing they teach and I think everyone should know, quoting the words of this friend of mine grossly, is that harass or ask questions, as jamon indeed did, it only causes a worsening of the confused state of the person. Therefore, it is good to leave time and time to the person, who has rightly awakened in a daze and obviously in complete emotional conflict.
Characters:
Here the critics have had a variable opinion , there were those who were happy as the undersigned and who instead would seem not to have understood what the word means " character development".. Always quoting a friend of mine but I think this is a very intuitive speech to tell the truth: People can change at any time, in this case it’s been 7 years but I assure you that even we, although unconsciously we are convinced to be ourselves, we change.. It can happen due to a traumatic factor, as even after months, years or weeks, you don’t have to take it for granted that everyone is the same and doesn’t change.. So maritrizzare nevra and leiftan, which were the ones most affected, for me it’s a great bullshit.. Nevra right now is pissed off at the whole world, because he rightly wanted to make a life for himself and after 7 years he was somehow convinced that he had managed to patch up the involuntary rupture is normal either cold or reticent to accept erika is alive.. Moreover, it is NOT even rude to the guardian, it depends on the answers and if you had an affair with him of course .. In any case his anger is more directed to leiftan, than to erika , which for now has not blamed at all for his absence.. I’ve played five times, so I know what I’m saying. leiftan: him,I  don’t  understand if people are blind or basic has gaps in understanding the text. I understand you can not perfectly guess the tone with which a character addresses, in fact there are cases in which a sentence may have 490504 meanings, but leiftan say that it is soft, without character or is not he, same judgment for nevra, means not understand the characters ,  not even the situation and basic what happened in the first season. At this time leiftan is embittered and disgusted of course by his person and it is natural not succeed, because as erika everything happened relatively recently, for how they had the conception of the facts, to focus or agree to pursue her relationship with Erika.. We also remember that it is an otome, so it is natural that the beemoov there , as it was set Eldarya or Dolce flrit in the first two seasons, leave with the crush of the first season. So I find it ridiculous to continue to argue about breakups etc etc., we knew from the beginning that something like this could happen, especially because after 7 years, in which EVERYONE believed erika was dead is natural everyone has made his life.. Nevra for first, seen and considered that accepting death, only now, apparent of someone, I can assure you that very much changes a person..
  for the secondary characters:
everyone has their own personality, Koori is a very provocative and sarcastic girl very similar to ezarel, feng chu instead is a girl without hair on the tongue and dedicated to alchemy and demands that his clan is harmonious and passionate as she herself. That’s why you have it so much with mathieu, because you see an unhappy person and serious person and it would also seem very punctual , it bothers you.Because he thinks about the good of his guard... Matheiu instead , despite being human has a very charismatic character, can sometimes pass for an insolent vain but then everyone is done in his own way... At least he’s not a character all smoke and no roast.. Chrome and karenn good or bad have always remained the same, despite I notice a certain seriousness and a marked maturity in him and I really like it.
4 crush:
I don’t think we need banners or neon signs to fully understand that the fourth flirt is spears. The beemoov Also spoiled indeed time, because on the map of the mobile version of eldarya appeared for an indefinite time, the chibi version of Lance next to the obsidian flag Aka Gem bomb.. If it wasn’t so important, Lance wouldn’t be mentioned in both episodes by chrome, matheiu or erika herself and the purrekos, undeterred.. Why do you tread so much the hand?. IT DOES NOT put you an exponential doubt ?.. I think so.. So NO, there will be no female flirting, but rather a male, I’m just sorry that people take it so hard that it’s a flirt. No one forces you to play their romance and no one expect you to appreciate it.. I’m sorry for how  beemoov decided to put him in the game, because if they  had put Lance, without killing his brother, surely no one would hate him so much.. But things are like that and I like that they decide to put a villan as crush, because there are many girls who appreciate the possible flirt not necessarily good. Moreover the next episode will be called " day of fury".. It can mean a lot of things, but   talking about lance... I conclude by saying that for me New Era started beautifully and I love the writing of the new writer of the beemoov.. The characters for me have been perfectly represented and I like the way it is taking.. I’m sorry I can’t write what I think on the forum, but I’m forced because here at least I have the freedom to answer as I want

The Final Season - Episode 1 Thoughts
I've watched the first episode around 3 times on my own and over a dozen times from anime-only live reactions on YouTube. Those are always something to have a field day with every season, and are part of the whole enjoyment post-watching the episode on your own.
Obviously I'm only reviewing this based on the first episode, so it's way too early to judge The Final Season as a whole. However, I will say that my strategy to keep my expectations low definitely worked. I was very hyped, don't get me wrong, but after Season 3 Part 2, I realized that production and scheduling has never been this show's strong suite and things behind the scenes were always chaotic. And it was my mistake to realize it this late and have unrealistically high expectations of the manga's adaptation.
But enough about that. I'm just gonna say it right now. I absolutely loved this episode and was completely blown away by it. It was a rollercoaster ride from start to finish and boy, the staff wasn't kidding when they said the first episode was like a movie. It definitely felt like that, and it went by in a flash. Now, on to the individual points.
Story/Adaptation
Flawless. Everything was executed perfectly and went beyond my expectations. The thing that stood out to me the most was how many things were changed from the PV in terms of scene construction, camera angles, and overall storyboards. There was only one shot that we reused from the PV, namely the one with Zeke and Reiner inside the airship where they're referred to as the spear and shield. Everything else was redone, which was a huge surprise. Wit was always very faithful to the original manga panels with how they used them as a big reference for most of their cuts, but this one changes them up a lot. Personally, I am 100% fine with it and as someone who has read these chapters in the manga dozens of times over the past few years, seeing them like this was a pleasant and very welcome surprise.
The anime-only additions here are notable and also quite welcome. Falco's line in the beginning in particular stood out the most in the long-run, but the addition of the Eldians' terror being shown as well as the scene before the ED was very welcome. I would like to assume that this was Isayama's doing as whenever the anime usually adds/changes up things, it's his request to do so. He sort of considers the anime to be the "definitive" version of the story that he, for one reason or another, couldn't do in the manga himself when that particular chapter came out. Season 3 Part 1 (The Uprising Arc) is a prime example for this. Once again, I'm very content with what was done here and I trust MAPPA will do the story justice.
A small but very neat thing is the fact that we got to keep the title cards and the info eyecatches mid-episode. Really added to the whole sense of consistency.
Animation
When the initial trailer came out, many people were concerned about Shigeki Asakawa (Director of Photography)'s odd and excessive usage of blur filters on top of the scenes and were wondering if they would remain in the final product, given her track record with other shows like The God of Highschool. Luckily, that is not the case here as the scenes look very clean and the minimal blur on top adds a bit to the muddy/gritty atmosphere of what's going on. Personally, I don't mind it at all and I barely notice it anyway. MAPPA's biggest strength to me is the usage of effects like blood and explosions. You feel the impact of everything and with such an action-packed episode, it made everything so much better.
The usage of 3D CGI for the Titan Shifters has been the biggest controversy surrounding this first episode. When I first watched it, it didn't bother me at all. Personally I care more about a model fitting in the action sequence rather than how it looks for the most part. Right now I would say I'm neutral. It's not the greatest CG ever conceived in anime but it definitely does not look out of place and is pretty decent. For the Jaw Titan, I couldn't tell what was CG and what wasn't for the most part. For the other Titans it's more obvious, but it's not too jarring. Obviously, if it was up to me and the production committee/NHK didn't push their scheduling shenanigans onto MAPPA, I would have gotten every Titan in 2D, but you can't have everything. If they choose to focus on more important scenes later on and cut corners in this first episode as a result, that's understandable. I can live with it. And again, even then, it's not that bad in my eyes.
Now, the character designs are just absolutely stellar. In multiple interviews, it’s been stated that they wanted to stay true to Kyoji Asano’s designs at Wit while also being consistent with Isayama’s style in the manga. And boy did they absolutely nail it. It’s exactly what as they said. Tomohiro Kishi could not have done a better job with the characters we’ve seen so far and I am beyond impressed with his work. I look forward to seeing the rest of the characters in this arc.
Sound
I've been following Kohta Yamamoto's works for a few years now, ever since he started working with Sawano (and being mentored by him to an extent) in early 2017. Although he's been involved with AoT before, particularly with the character songs in Season 2, whenever those two would collaborate on a project it would usually be because Sawano is too busy to compose a full soundtrack. So what usually happens is, Sawano does one track and variations of it (think ShingekiNoKyojin, ThanksAT and T-KT), and nothing else. Meanwhile, Yamamoto handles the rest of the music for the show. On top of that, Yamamoto's style as a composer is different from Sawano's as he comes from a rock/guitarist background as opposed to Sawano, who is a pianist and is classically trained. My biggest concern for The Final Season was that we would get a similar case as with the other shows where Sawano doesn't put in too much effort, while Yamamoto essentially becomes the main composer. Although it looks like this is in fact the case after this first episode, let me explain why I don't think it's a bad thing.
After the premiere of the first episode, both Sawano and Yamamoto tweeted that it was in fact Yamamoto who is handling the majority of the Marley Arc's music. And after this first episode, I have to say I'm impressed. His initial track that he made for the PV was a bit off-putting to me because it sounded like every epic blockbuster Hollywood trailer background track ever, but after the way it was used in this episode alongside a few other tracks, I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. It fits what's going on, and overall delivers a fresh sound to the show that is very appropriate given the massive change in narrative. Back during S3 Part 1, Sawano stated in an interview that he was already burned out and had trouble coming up with new music for AoT given how many tracks he had already composed for it. Given how few new melodies were in S3 Part 2;s music, I think this should be clear. Especially now that we're going into yet another season. To summarize, I think Yamamoto's work here is a result of three conditions that just happened to line up perfectly. The change in narrative, which the new composer style reflects. Sawano being busy. And Sawano being burned out with AoT. Now personally I still believe we're going to get at least one new original Sawano track with variations of it for the big climax moments this arc, and he may compose more music for the 2nd half of this 16-episode season, since that's technically a new arc. But we'll see. As a whole though, I'm satisfied with what I've heard from Kohta Yamamoto in this first episode.
The last point to make in regards to the sound is Masafumi Mima who, apart from Sawano, the voice cast, and some freelancers, is the only one from the previous seasons' staff members to return here. And once again, his work here is absolutely phenomenal. The mixing and usage of sound effects in this episode was stellar and truly felt like I was watching a war movie. It enhanced the action tenfold and I could not want it any better. Music usage is something that goes through the director (Yuichiro Hayashi), but ultimately the sound director is the one who implements the track (instrument layering/stem editing) and does the mixing. The usage of Kohta Yamamoto's music here was very well done, and although the track from the PV repeated quite a bit, it didn't get repetitive at all. Also, the sound director remaining consistent here means we got to keep things like the titan transformation sound effects, which may be a small thing but was very welcome and added to the whole consistency.
Opening/Ending
I'm gonna wait until Shinsei Kamattechan releases the full version of the opening in a single or album to fully judge the song, but boy do I love this opening. Although I'm not sure if the TV-size version is my favorite AoT opening yet, I have to say that it's without a doubt the most fitting OP this show has had until this point. It perfectly showcases the themes of war that this arc focuses on and has this lowkey disturbing eerie vibe with the dissonant chords and mixing of the vocals that feels just as "mysterious" and "tense" as the show itself. I love it so much, honestly. Now, Isayama was a fan of Shinsei Kamattechan prior to them doing the S2 ED, and was the one who got them on-board to do it. Although that song isn't really my thing it's also a perfect fit, which leads me to believe that Isayama himself most likely chose the band again, namely to do this OP. And it's fantastic. I love the song. The visuals also have a very distinct style with all the colors and white backgrounds and I love how it's more metaphorical and symbolic (I guess "abstract" as well?) rather than flat-out just spoiling everything like the last arc's OP did.
The ED by Yuko Ando is fantastic. The first time I listened to the full song on its own I couldn't stop getting chills. Love the production aspects of the song and it's just really nice altogether. The visuals are quite interesting especially towards the end and I also like them a lot. Not much else to say about the ED. It's amazing. Go listen to it.
Conclusion
As a whole, I kept my expectations extremely low prior to the premiere despite my hype. As a result of that, not only were they exceeded, I was absolutely blown away by this first episode in pretty much every way. It may still be too early to judge, but from what has been shown here so far, I am absolutely looking forward to see MAPPA adapt the rest of this amazing story, or about as far as they can get with 16 episodes.

Dororo 1-3
OH MAPPA. Love pretty much everything from them. Slipped my mind to watch this show. Mostly cause its on amazon prime and not crunchyroll. A mini marathon was in order. So it was had.
The theme is so killer cant decide if I like this one or Love Dramatic more. The whole Idea of him slaying monsters to regain himself is sooo good. It makes the monster of the week set up work so much better. Usually in stuff like Garo I felt like the monsters weren't super important. Still enjoyed Garo dont get me wrong. Dont even know how he managed without skin for so long. At least they tossed him a bone and got skin before feeling. Do not even want to imagine how awful that would be. “I have no mouth and I must scream.”
This show makes me remember how I felt when watching Casshern sins. Just nice and somber. The only time it peaks out into a different atmosphere is when the kid engages in antics. This is something to get lost in. Almost wish they had released this all in one go a la amazon. Perfect series to marathon on a cold day with the window open and a space heater near your legs. Which is exactly what I did for these 3 episodes lol.

New cast announcements, a new preview video, and the ending theme performers have been revealed for Inuyashiki, an upcoming TV anime based on the dark science fiction manga by Hiroya Oku about a middle-aged man who is accidentally transformed into a superhuman cyborg.
The new teaser trailer highlights ending theme song, entitled "Ai o Oshietekureta Kimi e" ("To You Who Taught Me Love"), which is performed by Qaijff. It also shows the actions of the murderous teenager, Hiro Shishigami, who undergoes the same cyborg transformation as the protagonist, Ichiro Inuyashiki.

The new cast members include Sumire Uesaka as Mari Inuyashiki, Ichiro's daughter and an aspiring manga artist, and Sumire Morohoshi as Shion Watanabe, Mari's classmate who takes an interest in Hiro.
The original Inuyashiki manga was serialized from 2014 - 2017 in Kodansha's Evening seinen manga magazine. An English language version is available in print from Kodansha Comics and digitally via Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll describes the story of Inuyashiki as follows:
Ichiro Inuyashiki is down on his luck. While only 58 years old, his geriatric looks often have him written off as a pathetic old man by the world around him and he’s constantly ignored and disrespected by his family despite all that he’s done to support them. On top of everything else, his doctor has revealed that he has cancer and it appears that he has little time left in this world. But just when it seems things couldn’t get any worse, a blinding light in the night sky strikes the earth where Ichiro stands. He later wakes up to find himself unscathed, but he soon starts to notice that there’s something…different about himself.
The Inuyashiki TV anime is directed by Keiichi Sato and Shuhei Yabuta and features animation by MAPPA. The series will join Fuji TV's "noitaminA" animation block beginning on October 12, 2017, and it will also be digitally distributed in Japan and in other markets worldwide by Amazon Prime.
