i remember in a article Zawe did in 2016 she just came out of a relationship and she didn't want to talk about the break up of her and then former boyfriend. Tom has been been dating alot between 2008 and 2016 : Susanne Fielding, Kat Dennings, Lara Pulver.. all three actresses , Jane Arthur a journalist all 4 at different times between 2008 and 2012 and with Elizabeth Olsen in 2014 and TS in 2016 . Which is making me think Zawe who had break up in 2016 with then boyfriend and so did Tom had his break up with TS .. then he having a crush on Zawe then why didn't he swoop in straight away after they broke up with other people in 2016 and wait two years because she was still working on the ind circuit before Tolstoy Dickens debate and so called ' they met at events over the years '

Because my understanding is that she and her bf broke up at some point in 2017, then she quit acting and moved to Margate.

Idk about that whole 2017 thing. Of course it's possible but idk. September of 2017 Tom's doing Hamlet, Zawe's in Margate and then she had to shoot Wanderlust. I mean we don't know what people do in their off hours of course. I could see early 2018 and perhaps Bonnie mentioned at Dickens v Tolstoy that they'd been together nearly a year. But the whole thing kind of loses credibility because she went private the second she was asked ..

Wasn't Zawe filming Velvet Buzzsaw in early 2018? I'd put it maaaaaaybe in June-ish, but probably not earlier.

I vaguely remember Zawe mentioning in an interview that she started the book sometime in 2017 when she lived alone at Margate. Not sure about the play. That being said, there's absolutely no denying that she used the heck out of her association with Betrayal and Tom to grab some good PR when she could. Most people who publish their first book would never be given a fancy New York City press party ... and yet she got one. Also agree about the Marvel role. If she were totally unknown she never would've gotten it. I also vaguely remember an interview from long ago where she crapped all over comic book movies in general, so I was surprised when she got this role. She'd flatly said in the distant past that she would never do a role like that, but money and fame talks I guess.

Here’s the thing though so many people use family members and people they’ve known during their life to get ahead. Nepo babies and things like relationships with actors/directors/producers/casting directors get people parts all the time.

I don’t think this is a valid reason to attack her. If someone wanted to offer me a awesome job that made a lot of money just because I knew them I’d fucking take it. That’s free enterprise and if we have to deal with it then take advantage of it.

FMP: Dreamland, Margate. LO1

Easter Week 3

Considered to be one of the oldest-surviving amusement parks in Great Britain, the site of Dreamland (as it was re-named in 1920) dates back to the British railway boom of the early 1870s when, in its original form, the ‘Hall by the Sea’ was operated by the famous circus impresario ‘Lord’ George Sanger.

In tune with the seasons, from spring through to summer, you can strap on some roller skates and enjoy a spin in the Roller Disco, or get interactive with art exhibits and treat yourself  to all the classic seaside food favourites from our vendors, and of course enjoy all the vintage inspired rides and amusements!  Whilst in the winter months, you can enjoy a jam packed line up of live music and events at our indoor venues.

Having an explore of their website, their mode of address is very informal. They provide in-depth detail into their history and each individual ride!

Inspiring Visuals:

Studio Moross were responsible for the 2017 summer relaunch campaign of Dreamland. The studio worked on posters and print advertising, as well as on-site wayfinding and maps, and sub-branding for food outlets at the park. The new campaign materials use sans-serif, “clean” typeface Lulo, a “bright, young” colour palette focused on orange, yellow and pink shades, and illustrations by Mica Warren.

“We try not to get bogged down in demographics,” says Moross. “We just tried to make something that someone will look at and think ‘that’s cool’ – whether they’re five or 45. We wanted to keep it slightly weird and fun, but not patronising.”

It was interesting to see the comments on this article, with sign writer Nick Garrett saying:

Reflection, LO4:

A major part of my project has been looking into traditional forms of design and though Dreamland has taken a contemporary stance, I feel there's an opportunity here to combine traditional typographic forms with more modern, colourful illustrations. In this way, it combines both of what I enjoy in design.

First day of Misticon 2023 wearing our shirts from 2017. I've been to five Misticon, my daughter even went to the pre-Misti con here at the Margate.

I was desperate for a new job, and I had past ties with Independence-Development Ltd. (IDL) I first started working for Independence-Development Ltd (IDL) back in August 2017 when I was still stock-taking for OCS I had been desperately working every shift I could get but I still could not make Ends meet no matter how hard I tried. I remember calling up the director (we had past ties) and literally begging him for a job on the way back from one of my OCS shifts. “I would do anything, as long as I have a stable income. I would even scrub your toilets,” the Director being as nice as he was. Looking at the circumstances, too. He took me into an interview. I lived in margate. and I would work in Gravesend. it was quite a step up, but I was committed to this job. And I’m glad I Was. You Can Find out more about the company on their website. Interviewed for Independence-development Ltd For the rest of this blog. I will refer to Independence-development as IDL, a common abbreviation to those who worked there. Interviewing with IDL for a waking night practitioner role; I turned up with high hopes! And I left with even high hopes. We met in the office and we went through the normal care related questions, scenario based questions to show your knowledge level. Especially considering I was a new starter in the Health And Social care industry. I went home after the interview and got a phone call the next day how did it plan it? Getting the Job but not as a carer.... Instead, I started working for Independence development ltd. doing IT and Admin support, my tasks where dealing with GDPR within the IT side of the business. Setting up finger print clock in systems, managing and developing a remote Backup System. and Supporting Staff with IT Related issues. As well as other administrative tasks like archiving and data access requests. I had done this for 2 Years and 8months but I was tiring of the role. It became more focused at the administrative side while IT Support wasn’t always needed. The First Month Working For IDL So you didn’t know I had applied for the role of Waaking Night Therapeutic Practitioner for a company based in Medway and Gravesend. So far I’ve been working up in their head office learning the ways of the role and gaining experience and training.... So 4 weeks in what do I think and what have I been up too? I'm a hard worker, and I've been doing my best to make headway with the training. I completed seven of fifteen courses that will give me basic knowledge for going forward into this role as Waking Night Practitioner. Even after these have finished though, there's one more course on Health And Social Care so you can be sure all bases are covered! I’m working right now on multiple things... Like Building and implementing an Electronic Archiving System And Referencing the files. Organising Archives, Making Phone Calls And typing HR Related Documents And Mainly.... I’m Errand Boy! So That it, I’m a step further and hopefully I will soon be in the care environment. And helping to help young people become independent and stable, allowing them to fulfil life at its most! But most of all, thanks to everyone who helped me get into this Job: Hayden Irwin, Peter Cook, Maggie At Oxfam Rochester, And IDL’s Recruitment Team! The transition to care work. Some time working for Independence-development ltd. I changed role. After speaking with the director, Dr Michael Kie’th Olyedemi, he agreed that a new role would be good to me. As I’ve always wanted to contribute back to the Care System and foster myself. Dr Michael Olydemi had agreed I would do better in a care based role. And I started working as a Bank waking Night Practitioner while still doing a few days in the office. During this period I learned a lot about myself, and my desire to care. At this point I had realised that caring could be a career of mine. Not just a job. And this excited me. After working for 3 months as a bank worker. I was ready to change in two days.

Mainly because it was affecting my family and home life. And my will power in any situation. I hold a level of care and dedication not seen by many in the industry. In my last work placement I was looking after a young person who had underlying mental health issues and was a frequent self-harmer who was on 1-1 Eyesight 24/7 unless in their room. Which then would change to 5min-observations checkups. on my checkup the service user had tried to ligature themselves with a bit of string from their tracksuit bottoms. (thankfully our office was nearby) I shouted to my colleague to get the scissors and to come and assist. I had to struggle with the service user, unable to get the scissors to cut through, and at one point I called my colleague to call the ambulance. While they were on the phone, I cut it loose and I then sat there by the door making sure they were okay and recover like normal. (There was a multi-agency agreement out that stated we could not have an ambulance on site unless it was life threatening.) Once myself and the ambulance team on the phone agreed they were now okay and that we just needed to change our plan temporarily to 1-1 eyesight in their room. That night I got a lot of abuse, and the service user kept saying that they would repeatedly self harm until the ambulance had to be called out. Thankfully, they never did. so why did I leave Independence development ltd? I loved the job, but simply come I was given a better offer. I took a risk on a startup business that one of my friends was running. And I felt like the time for a new challenge was now. Sadly, this job went tits up... and I had to find a new place to work... I’ve gone back to care after all. Sadly, not with the company that sparked my inspiration for care, but I’m sure in the future. Who knows what will happen.

Week Two

Classism Through Minimalism

Minimalism is described as an intentional lack of decoration or adornment in style or design, although it is most frequently connected with aesthetics, it is also considered to be a way of life. It is based on the principle that less is more and that by freeing your home, you can also free your mind and spirit. However, this approach also involves replacing items that don't complement the aesthetic with more simple alternatives. This "less is more" philosophy is deceptive because it requires a lot of time, money, and effort to change your home to suit a style. It’s all very well getting rid of all your possessions if you can afford to buy them again any time you want. Minimalism is a privilege of the wealthy because being wealthy gives you freedom of choice.

Artist Models

This week my choice for artist models were based off of the connection to my theme, rather than aesthetic properties.

Sophie Calle

Through searching for research material I found a book titled ‘Appointment with Sigmund Freud, by Sophie Calle, a French writer, photographer, installation artist, and conceptual artist. The book depicts Calle’s 1998 exhibition taking place in Freud’s former home, where she assembled personal objects and related texts, which were juxtaposed with objects from Freud’s personal collection. Calle reveals intimate secrets and gives context to her installation from almost a decade earlier, giving the audience an intimate glimpse into the significance of these seemingly plain artefacts.

What I appreciate about this body of work is how Calle uses a similar environment to compare and contrast Freud's and her possessions to make comparisons between their lives. It demonstrates how our shared experiences and feelings bind us all together. Calle also gives the viewer a sense of validation by revealing not only her memories but also the powerful emotions that went along with them.

Fiona Pardington

Fiona Pardington is an Auckland-born photographer whose images are characterised by their dark atmosphere and depictions of plants and animals. She encourages conversation, questions mortality, and celebrates preservation through her still life photographs. Pardington is an artist that I am drawn to year after year. Unlike the other artist models I have chosen to look at, Pardington narrates her stories ominously, with her use of dark scenes and morbid relics.

Tracey Emin

British artist Tracey Emin is well-known for her autobiographical and candid works. Emin creates artwork in a range of media, including sewing appliqué, neon text, cinema, photography, painting, and sculpture. Emin's installation from 1998, named "My Bed," provided a window into the then-35-year-life old's following a devastating relationship breakup. Used condoms, cigarette butts, and empty vodka bottles were incorporated in the piece, which was a replica of the artist's bed at the time.

Many strong emotions were evoked in viewers by this installation; some loved it and some loathed it. This could be due to the fact that it recreates a very relatable experience that almost everyone has gone through at some point in their lives.

NEW MUSIC:

Asking Alexandria’s Danny Worsnop released a new solo track titled “Bad for You.” It follows on from the emotional “Love You More,” which act as the singer’s first pieces of music of 2021 as well as being an independent solo artist.

Nova Twins revealed a version of their track “Undertaker” that has been remixed by FEVER 333. The former duo are a part of the latter’s frontman Jason Aalon Butler's 333 WRECKORDS CREW.

Nothing,nowhere. released an acoustic version of his hit track “Fake Friend.” The singer released the original version back in January and is featured on his latest album Trauma Factory.

De’Wayne returned with a new song titled “Walking to Work.” The single follows from his previous one “Perfume,” which was done in collaboration with Waterparks’ frontman Awsten Knight.

Silverstein released their first new music of 2021 with a single titled “Bankrupt.” The new song follows on the release of their full-length A Beautiful Place to Drown last year.

After plenty of teasing, ONE OK ROCK finally released their long-awaited track “Renegades.” The track was co-written with Ed Sheeran and was released alongside a new music video.

Pop-punk power couple Mod Sun and Avril Lavigne released an acoustic version of their collab track “Flames.” It follows on from a drum tutorial for the track, courtesy of the former artist.

Enter Shikari released a surprise new album Moratorium (Broadcasts From the Interruption). The album is made up of at-home performances recorded remotely by the band and tracks recorded for the virtual 2000 Trees and Five4Five Fest.

VUKOVI returned with a brand new single titled “Kill It,” the band's first release on their new label LAB Records. It follows on from “SLO,” which was released a few months ago.

Sullivan King and Kayzo joined forces for a new track titled “Domination,” alongside Papa Roach's Jacoby Shaddix. Sullivan also recently released a track featuring Ice Nine Kills' Spencer Charnas called “Venomous.”

TOUR ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly announced he is heading out on a UK tour to play his record The Chronicles of a Bohemian Teenager in full. Celebrating its 15-year anniversary, the fall tour kicks off in Portsmouth and ends in Margate, England.

Evanescence and Within Temptation revealed that their Worlds Collide European Tour will now take place in 2022. The massive tour will now kick off in Leipzig, Germany on March 16 and end in Zurich on April 15.

Waterparks will be participating in a livestream event that is part of the “Live at the Wiltern” series, in association with Veeps and Live Nation. The digital show will be taking place on June 4 at 9PM EST.

In addition, Chase Atlantic announced they will also be participating in the aforementioned series, performing their own set on July 9 at 9PM EST. The trio released their new album Beauty in Death earlier this year via Fearless Records.

My Chemical Romance announced that all of their tour dates are being rescheduled to 2022. The new dates are listed as kicking off in New Zealand on March 12 and ending in Los Angeles on October 15.

Set It Off rescheduled their UK/EU tour, after previously rescheduling the dates to next month. The tour will now start up in Birmingham, England, on February 22 and end in Moscow on March 24.

Foo Fighters revealed that their previously scheduled dates across Europe will now be taking place in 2022. The short tour will begin in Nimes, France, on June 22 and end in Lisbon on June 19.

OTHER NEWS:

Fall Out Boy's Pete Wentz revealed that he has a new show on Apple Music titled Loud and Sad Radio. The show is co-hosted with Elliot Ingham and the first episode is available now.

Paramore's 2017 album After Laughter has been certified gold in the United States. With this news, every one of the band’s albums have now hit either gold or platinum certification.

Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus revealed that he has partnered up with Reverb to open up an online gear shop. All of the pieces of equipment available in the store have been used by Mark to record and tour with both his current band and +44.

Sum 41’s hit track “Fat Lip” is now certified platinum in the United Kingdom, according to the BPI. It is found on the album All Killer No Filler, which is also certified platinum.

“And So It Went,” The Pretty Reckless’ hit track featuring Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello, hit the No. 1 spot on Rock Radio in the United States. The track switched places with Foo Fighters' “Waiting on a War.”
