Yknow I rag on you'll find out a lot, but I'm pretty sure they do make sure to debunk all of the examples we see of Salianos magic, which is more than you can say about a lot of vintage haunted house/mysticism/general supernatural mystery stories where the twist is that it was all a big scam

And believe me it brings me no joy to admit the film covers all of its bases pretty well in that regard because A:I'm a grown woman who enjoys complaining about potholes in a film from 1940 and B:It spoils a headcanon I was nursing that Prince Saliano and Murder Legendre from White Zombie are the same person
