Un comentario en un foro de TVTime se burlaba por completo de “Normal People” argumentando que si sus dos protagonistas se comunicaran mejor o verbalizaran lo que en verdad sienten, la historia sería más corta y ellos mismos se ahorrarían de tanto drama. Y, sin embargo, quizás sea la falta de comunicación es lo que hace de “Normal People” una serie sensible, sencilla, pero sobre todo intima. La serie “Normal People” es una adaptación del libro del mismo nombre de Sally Rooney. En la novela, hay un narrador en tercera persona que nos describe minuciosamente lo que Marianne y Connell piensan, sienten y hacen, en cierto modo, nos explican la “razón” detrás de sus acciones, pero la serie no se queda atrás, ya muestra lo que Connell y Marianne sienten sin utilizar palabras, a través de silencios, gestos y estados que lo dicen todo, sin mencionar la interpretación desgarradora y realista de estos dos millenials enamorados.
