If you don’t mind me asking, which parent do you think Sisi and each of her siblings looked more like?

I think Helene looked like Max, Sisi, Maria Sophie, Mathilde and Sophie Charlotte looked like Ludovika and Karl Theodor, Ludwig Wilhelm anc Maximilian Emmanuel looked like a mix of their parents.

Personally I agree on you with Elisabeth and Mathilde, they both looked a lot like their mom:

To me Marie resembled a bit more to her dad, specially the shape of her face (notice how they both had the same parted chin)

I don't think Sophie resembled particularly to one of her parents, tho as an older woman I think she looked a lot like her grandmother Queen Caroline.

With Helene I can't settle, to be honest. Here is a comparison with her parents' portraits. Maybe she also looked more like a grandparent?

As for the guys: I also think they looked like a mix of their parents, tho as he grew older Ludwig Wilhelm resembled more to his dad.

In general you can see the family resemblance (remember Ludovika and Max were cousins lol) in all the kids, tho I wish we had more portraits, or better, actual pictures of their parents in their youth to compare them better.

First of all, I would like to thank you all for this amazing year! It's been a pleasure meeting you all and I'm beyond thankful for your support.

Spread among 13 occupied and historic royal residences in the United Kingdom, the collection is owned by King Charles III and overseen by the Royal Collection Trust. The British monarch owns some of the collection in right of the Crown and some as a private individual. It is made up of over one million objects, including 7,000 paintings, over 150,000 works on paper, this including 30,000 watercolours and drawings, and about 450,000 photographs, as well as around 700,000 works of art, including tapestries, furniture, ceramics, textiles, carriages, weapons, armour, jewellery, clocks, musical instruments, tableware, plants, manuscripts, books, and sculptures.

Some of the buildings which house the collection, such as Hampton Court Palace, are open to the public and not lived in by the Royal Family, whilst others, such as Windsor Castle, Kensington Palace and the most remarkable of them, Buckingham Palace are both residences and open to the public.

About 3,000 objects are on loan to museums throughout the world, and many others are lent on a temporary basis to exhibitions.

The Loomis Radio School, Washington D.C. ca. 1921.

The school was located at 401 Ninth St. N.W. and operated with the call letters 3YA. By 1920 it was offering a six month course enabling the graduate to obtain a first grade commercial radio license and by January of 1922 was offering a four year course with a degree in Radio Engineering bestowed on graduates.

The school was founded by Mary Texanna Loomis, pictured in the last photo.

Born August 18, 1880 near Goliad, Texas. She was the second child born to Alvin Isaac and Caroline (Dryer) Loomis. Though born on homestead in Texas in 1880, by 1883 her parents had returned to Rochester NY and then on to Buffalo where Alvin became president of a large delivery and storage company. Little is known of her early years, but appears she had a fairly middle-class up bringing. She seemed well schooled, with an early interest in music and language (she mastered French, German and Italian) Her early years were spent in Buffalo, NY and she later relocated to Virginia. 

During the early years of World War I, she became interested in the new field of wireless telegraphy. There was a family precedent; her cousin, Dr. Mahlon Loomis, had conducted early wireless experiments with moderate success and may in fact have been the first person, in 1865, to send and receive wireless signals. 

Mary soon became proficient enough in wireless telegraphy to be granted a license by the United States Department of Commerce. Thoroughly fascinated with the field now called “radio”, she decided to turn her expertise into a career. Also, she wanted to do something that would honor her pioneering ancestor. Her idea was to do this by founding a radio school. 

Though radio was indeed, for many years, a profession dominated by men, Mary Loomis around age 40 took no notice and in 1920 founded the Loomis Radio School in Washington, D.C. and it quickly gained an excellent reputation. Ms. Loomis set high standards for the school and it attracted students not only from the United States but Europe and Asia as well. Loomis enjoyed teaching as much as she enjoyed radio itself. In an interview, she said, “Really, I am so infatuated with my work that I delight in spending from 12 to 15 hours a day at it. My whole heart and soul are in this radio school.” 

As president and Lecturer of the Loomis Radio School, Mary authored a definitive book on radio, named “Radio Theory and Operating.” 

By January 1922 the school was offering a four year course with a degree in Radio Engineering bestowed on graduates. Loomis also intended that her students understand more than just the inner and outer workings of radio. In addition to a radio laboratory (with equipment constructed almost entirely by Mary herself), the school maintained a complete shop capable of teaching carpentry, drafting and basic electricity. She reasoned that many of her graduates might find themselves at sea, or in other challenging situations and she wanted them adequately prepared. “No man,” Ms. Loomis said, at the time, “can graduate from my school until he learns how to make any part of the apparatus. I give him a blueprint of what I want him to do and tell him to go into the shop and keep hammering away until the job is completed.” 

The school appears to have been in existence at least through the early 1930's, but it has not been possible to find information after that.

In an interview given to H.O. Bishop of the Dearborn Independent in 1921, Mary was asked: “What sort of young men are taking up the radio profession?” to which she replied:

“The Kind who have grit and want to get there! Virtually all of them are ambitious and enthusiastic over the possibility of visiting every nook and corner of the world. My students are not only enrolled from various sections of the USA and Canada but from many foreign countries, such as Sweden, Ireland, England, Poland, Russia, Austria, Rumania and the Philippines. One of the brightest pupils I ever had was Prince Walimuhomed of Far-away Afghanistan. He was an extremely modest young man, keeping his real identity a secret until after graduating. He said he had no idea of earning his living by working at radio, but just wanted to know all about it. He does.You have no idea how much happiness I get out of the success of each individual graduate. My boys keep in touch with me from all parts of the world. Scarcely a day goes by that I do not get some trinket or postcard from some remote section of the world. I have made the wonderful discovery that the only way for me to get happiness for myself is to make some one else happy. I find that I am making these young men happy by teaching them every phase of the radio business so that they can earn a comfortable living for themselves and their dependents and at the same time, see the great big beautiful world.

As far as we can figure out, Mary Loomis left Washington D.C. around 1935 and moved to San Francisco where she worked as a stenographer. She died in 1960 and is interred at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Colma, CA.

Maria Feodorovna (26 November 1847 – 13 October 1928), known before her marriage as Princess Dagmar of Denmark, was Empress of Russia from 1881 to 1894 as the wife of Emperor Alexander III.

She was the second daughter of Christian IX of Denmark and Louise of Hesse-Kassel.

Maria's eldest son became the last Russian monarch, Emperor Nicholas II.

Maria lived for 10 years after Bolshevik functionaries murdered Nicholas and his immediate family in 1918.

Princess Thyra of Denmark (Thyra Amalie Caroline Charlotte Anna; 29 September 1853 – 26 February 1933) was the youngest daughter and fifth child of Christian IX of Denmark and Louise of Hesse-Kassel.

In 1878, she married Ernest Augustus, the exiled heir to the Kingdom of Hanover.

As the Kingdom of Hanover had been annexed by Prussia in 1866, she spent most of her life in exile with her husband in Austria.

Princess Alexandra Caroline Marie Charlotte Louise Julia, or "Alix", as her immediate family knew her, was born at the Yellow Palace, an 18th-century town house at 18 Amaliegade, immediately adjacent to the Amalienborg Palacecomplex in Copenhagen.[1] Her father was Prince Christian of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg and her mother was Princess Louise of Hesse-Kassel.[2] She had five siblings: Frederick, William (later George I of Greece), Dagmar (later Empress of Russia), Thyra and Valdemar.

The only son of King Max I with his second wife Karoline, Max Joseph Karl Friedrich (1800-1803), did not survive infancy. Therefore, all hopes were placed in the further pregnancies of the wife. The twins in 1801 (Amalie and Elise) were still accepted with some joy. But the birth in 1805 - again female twins - caused consternation. The Gallery of Beauties (Schönheitengalerie) is a collection of 38 small portraits of the most beautiful women from the nobility and middle classes of Munich, Germany painted between 1827 and 1850 (mostly by Karl Joseph Stieler, appointed court painter in 1820) and gathered by Ludwig I of Bavaria in the south pavilion of Nymphenburg Palace in Munich. Two additional ones were created by Friedrick Drück and one portrait was stolen in the XXth century and remains missing.

Her Majesty Queen Marie Amelie, widow of Louis Philippe d'Orleans, King of the French, was the second daughter of Ferdinand I, King of the Two Sicilies, by his consort, Caroline, daughter of Francis, Emperor of Germany and of his consort, the Empress Maria Theresa, being the niece of Marie Antoinette, the murdered Queen of France; and great-aunt of the present Emperor of Austria., of the Queen of Spain, and of Francis II, ex-King of the Two Sicilies. Queen Marie Amelie was born April 26, 1782, and her marriage occurred thus: – Louis Philippe, Duke of Orleans, after various adventures and wanderings in different parts of the world came to reside, in 1800, at Twickenham in Middlesex. In 1808 the Duke accompanied to Malta, his invalid brother, the Count de Beaujolais, who died there; and after his death the Duke crossed to Messina, and was hospitably received by King Ferdinand at Palermo, his only capital – King Joachim Murat then ruling at Naples. The Duke of Orleans, during his visit gained the affection of the Princess Marie Amelie and married her, Nov 20, 1809. After the nuptials, they continued to reside at Palermo in quiet domesticity. They, at the Restoration of 1814 went to Paris, where the Duke's honors and estates were restored to him. His second son, Louis, Duke de Nemours, being born at Paris, Oct 25, 1814, was honoured by having as his sponsors Louis XVIII and the Duchesse d'Angouleme. On Napoleon's removal to Elba the Duke of Orleans was made a Lieutenant of France for the north by King Louis XVIII. He did not, however, hold the post long, and on reigning it came again to live at Twickenham. After Waterloo, and on the second Restoration he went to take his seat in the Chamber of Peers; but, his course of policy not being agreeable to the then Government, he once more retreated to Twickenham, and remained there till 1817, when he settled in France, not to live it till his high and adverse destinies were accomplished. Of his accession to the throne in 1830, of his abdication in 1848, and of his death, an exile at Claremont, Aug 25, 1850, it is needless to here give details: they are the events of a history universally known. Suffice it to say, that his devoted and admirable consort, Queen Marie Amelie, shared with grace his elevation, and never ceased to cling to him and to comfort him in his misfortunes and his exile. Reverenced in France, she acquired for herself and her family reverence in England. The protection and attention constantly shown to the Royal lady by the present Sovereign of Great Britain may remind us of the kindness of Louis the Great to the exiled James II and his Queen, though there there were political reasons, while here all was from the noblest and purest motives.
