hangman’s “moral enforcer” character trait is so interesting bc it evolves as his feud with swerve does. the more bad shit that happens to him, those ppl end up getting rewarded. so how does one uphold a moral and “good/right” demeanor when other people keep getting rewarded for being bad? i love this especially in post interview after the promo where he faked injury (collision 3/2/24) - it’s so fucking good. first off “i’m sorry that i took advantage of the trust of the people-“ INSANE, but like he knew it was a shitty/bad thing to do to deceive them (us) but he convinced himself it was the right thing to do. the way he keeps repeating “i had to do it” he’s convincing himself of his actions just as much as he’s telling the audience, that what he’s doing is still the moral and right thing. like it’s such an interesting devolvement in his actions seeing them become more unhinged and bad, while still believing he’s doing this for the greater good

on today’s show: ive accepted a job offer, rejected another one, done my laundry, the ac is on the frizz when it’s gonna be almost 100f this weekend, my sister’s friend is staying the weekend, AND the game is on later

so here’s the thing i think i realized bugged me about the knies “hit” yesterday. like yeah the bunting cross check to the neck was awful and good they called it but dont even get me started on the second “well since im here i guess” cross check. the knies one irks me because it reminds me so much of the shit sid had to deal with being this sensationally skilled rookie coming into this rough and tumble league. now i know sid and knies aren’t on the same level, but in his few playoff games, knies was definitely a huge plus in the team’s play. if we’re going to have teams still target new players coming into the league because there’s still this notion that they need to toughen up and can’t just be skilled players, we are literally never going to change the game into something safer. we’ve seen the game change within the last few years to benefit skilled players with higher scoring and incredible plays. dont get me wrong we can still have a safe physical game, like the dahlin hit during the season was amazing, but hits like the trouba and bennett ones in the playoff should have no place in the future of the game. it just worries me with this incoming draft class and how good they are and if they’re going to go through the same treatment or if this is just the cycle the league has trapped themselves in
