Young Hope Kintobor/Robotnik with her parents and grandmother, one year before the space exploration
(pose by @simmerianne93)
And in case you're wondering: Kintobor is her canon (well, Archie pre-reboot) last name, Robotnik is her name in the Mario Legacy version

Now I wonder if I should add I am a teacher: Super Mario Sweater to the Mario Legacy Challenge. Maybe a bonus generation or something similar involving stuff from Nifty Knitting.

The Sims 4: Mario Legacy Challenge
Tumblr media
An eleven-generation legacy challenge based on various Mario games.
General rules:
The heir choosing methods, genders of heirs, romance etc. are up to you unless specified otherwise. The next heir should generally be a child of the previous one, but can be biological, adopted or science. (If you want to adjust the rules, you can also have them be a niece/nephew etc.)
There are certain pack specific requirements. If you don't have the required packs for them, you may replace them with something similar or skip them.
If the traits for a certain generation are not yet available as a child/teen, you may use cas.fulleditmode or the Re-Traiting Potion to replace the traits once the Sim ages up into a young adult. (If you have the more traits mod, then it is recommended that you only give them 2 traits as a child as opposed to 3.)
For some generations, only two traits are specified, in which case, you can pick the third one. These generations have a list of forbidden traits which should not be used.
If you get a self-discovery that replaces one of the specified traits or adds a forbidden trait, reject it (you may only accept it if you are very close to finishing the generation or have already finished). For Gen 11, which has no specified traits, you may accept any self-discoveries you want.
Aging must be turned on, but can be set to anything you want, including custom life spans with mods. (You may play with aging turned off if you manually age up all Sims who are relevant to the Legacy Challenge and use a different method to have them die of "old age".)
You can use mods/cheats for storytelling purposes. Don't use money cheats to add money to your household except in Generation 4.
You can make some adjustments to the rules in order to fit your storytelling better or if you don't like certain rules.
Use the tag #mariolegacychallenge for any posts about this legacy challenge.
-----
THE GENERATIONS
Generation 1: Arcade Games
You never got along with your family, so as soon as you became a young adult, you moved far away from anyone you knew. In your new home, you work in several different unstable jobs and don't find much success in life. That is, until you get married to a younger and richer Sim and start a family together. While your spouse makes more money, you still continue working in dangerous environments.
Aspiration: Renaissance Sim
Career: Multiple (see below)
Traits: Hot-headed, Overachiever
Forbidden traits: Animal enthusiast, Cat lover, Child of the islands, Child of the ocean, Dog lover, Family-oriented, Goofball, Horse lover, Lazy, Noncommittal, Squeamish
Rules:
Start as a young adult. Only have max. starter funds but you may use cheats or move out of a pre-existing household to have even lower funds.
Live in a cheap apartment/lot in an urban/industrial world.
Having pre-existing family members is not necessary, but if you do, you must have a friendship level of acquaintances or worse and they must not live in the same world.
Start by working in the Manual Laborer part-time job. Eventually quit and start working in other jobs, but never reach level 4 in any career. (If you accidentally get promoted to level 4, quit the job immediately.)
Marry a Sim who is younger and has a stable job. After getting married, you may move in a better house/apartment, but stay in an urban area.
Never own any build mode objects that were not yet invented in the 1980s (such as modern day computers or tablets).
Have at least 3 children, including a set of twins. You may use cheats or age up Sims early to make this happen.
Have a negative relationship with at least two animals (Cats & Dogs/Cottage Living/Horse Ranch).
Die when your youngest child is a child (you can choose the method). Have the spouse continue raising the children until they are old enough to move out. Never move the spouse out of the family home.
Optional: Have one of the children (not the heir or their twin) start a side household which you keep around all the way up to Generation 10. This side household stays in the city and a descendant of this lineage eventually joins the Politician career.
Optional: Name children after people such as the founder, spouse, spouse's family or friends.
-----
Generation 2: Super Mario Bros. / Super Mario Land
You grew up in the city, but you never felt like this was the right place for you. You are very close to your twin sibling, and so you decide to move to the countryside together when you become young adults. While you are more confident and outgoing, your twin is more timid, and as such, you are often the one to interact with outsiders. You are never one to turn down an adventure, so when you find out that a local has been kidnapped by an evil Sim, you set out on a journey to save them. And looks like this is only the beginning of your adventuring days.
Aspiration: The Curator
Career: Self-employed (no career goal)
Traits: Loves outdoors, Outgoing, Self-assured
Twin's traits: Clumsy, Paranoid, Socially awkward
Rules:
Move out as a young adult.
Live in a relatively small house/cottage in a natural area with your twin.
Make money by selling collectibles and (for Cottage Living) running errands. You may have a full-time or part-time job before moving out, but quit before moving.
Become enemies with an evil Sim.
Have another Sim be "kidnapped" by the evil Sim. Look for the kidnapped Sim in multiple locations before ultimately finding them.
Have romance with the kidnapped Sim you saved, but do not get into a relationship immediately. You may have romance with other Sims too until you officially get into a relationship.
Reach level 10 in the handiness skill.
Whenever a toilet, sink, shower or bathtub in your house breaks, have either you or your twin repair it. Never use any of the options that cost money.
Use your handiness to upgrade a toilet in your house with all the possible upgrades.
Go outside every day. (You can start this at any point you want, as long as it's by the time your Sim moves out.)
Gain the Outdoorsy lifestyle.
After moving out, visit different worlds/lots/neighborhoods on several occasions. (You can do whatever you want during these visits.)
During one of these visits, meet a Sim who lives in another world (other than where your Sim currently lives). Eventually introduce them to your twin and have the two form a romantic relationship.
Eventually get married to the kidnapped Sim you saved, but only after you have completed your aspiration and completed the other requirements.
After you are engaged or married, you may move into a bigger house with your new spouse and your twin will move elsewhere with their love interest. (Twin and their love interest may move out at an earlier point as well.)
Only have children after everything else here is done. Have 2 children, preferably twins.
Optional: Give children nature based names.
-----
Generation 3: Super Mario World / Yoshi's Island
You and your sibling were taken away from your family while you were still babies. You were lucky enough to end up being found by a group of friendly aliens, while your sibling was kidnapped by evil monsters. Luckily, the aliens managed to find your sibling and later reunite you with your parents. Or did they? Or were you raised by the wrong parents? Oh well, no matter what happened, you feel a strong connection to the aliens.
Aspiration: Country Caretaker / Nerd Brain (your choice)
Career: Scientist
Traits: Fussy as a toddler; Animal enthusiast, Geek, Loves outdoors (optionally replace one of these traits with Horse lover)
Rules:
Have you and your sibling be moved to different households as infants/toddlers. Your heir should be in a household with aliens (or another type of occult or just regular Sims with an unusual skin color) and your sibling should be with an evil Sim.
Reach at least level 3 in all toddler skills.
After this is done, defeat the evil Sim in a fight as one of the aliens and add the heir's sibling to the household.
Find a couple who are not the actual parents and live with them for some time.
After a while, it turns out these were the wrong parents. Have the aliens take the two children back into their household until they manage to find the real parents. Or wrong parents yet again? Your choice.
Eventually have you and your sibling permanently move in with a family.
With Seasons, create a holiday with the Egg Hunt tradition and have the holiday occur while your main Sim is a toddler or child and successfully complete the tradition.
Like with all generations, eventually move out as a young adult. Live in a natural world.
Continue staying in contact with aliens.
As a young adult, become best friends with an alien.
Visit Forgotten Grotto.
Have at least one non-occult child.
Optional (Cottage Living): Raise chickens and enter an Egg Competition at a Chicken Fair.
Optional (Horse Ranch): Own a horse and reach level 10 in the Riding skill.
Optional: Give children science based names.
-----
Generation 4: Super Mario 64 / Luigi's Mansion
Your goal in life is to live in a big fancy mansion full of paintings. You think it's your lucky day when you win a mansion in the lottery. However, as it turns out, the mansion you won is haunted and you have to deal with ghosts. Over time, you manage to improve your living conditions and become famous for your paintings. One day, you are invited to a fancy event with the promise of cake. However, when you get there, it turns out the host has gone missing and you must find them. After you do, the two of you fall in love and move in together. Living together in a big mansion, you continue decorating the walls with your paintings while they continue to impress you with the best cakes you've ever tasted.
Aspiration: Mansion Baron
Career: Freelancer - Paranormal Investigator (or Self-employed)
Traits: Art lover, Creative, Dog lover
Rules:
Move into a haunted house residential lot (or a regular residential lot with ghosts as the other residents) as a young adult. You may also add the spooky lot challenge from City Living. You may use the freerealestate cheat when moving into the house.
Start out by having negative relationships with the other ghosts but improve over time.
Make money by completing gigs in the Paranormal Investigator career and selling paintings.
Own an easel and paint frequently. Sell some but not all of your paintings.
Reach level 10 in the painting skill.
Become famous by selling paintings. (Get Famous)
Paint portraits of the ghosts you meet and put them on the walls of your mansion.
Adopt a ghost dog.
After some time, visit another lot only to find out that the (supposed) resident is missing. Look for them in various places until you finally find them.
After this, form a romantic relationship and move in together. You may get married at this point.
Either have them move in with you and rework your home so that it is no longer haunted or move into their home and have it be a fancy mansion.
Continue painting until the next generation heir moves out and decorate the walls of your home with various paintings you have painted over time.
Have your spouse/partner master the baking skill (cooking skill if you don't have Get to Work).
Have your spouse/partner host a gold social event where they serve cake.
Optional: Name children after famous artists or otherwise art themed names.
-----
Generation 5: Super Mario Sunshine
Everything in your life seems to be perfect at first. You never had any major troubles growing up, are now getting married to the love of your life and are planning to have a nice honeymoon on the beach. But when you arrive, things don't go as smoothly, as you are arrested by the local authorities. As it turns out, someone had vandalized the beaches with paint on the night of your arrival, and as the child of a famous painter, you are the prime suspect. They give you the option to avoid any jail time as long as you clean up the islands. While still angry that you have been falsely accused, you are not one to turn down helping the environment. So you decide to clean up the islands and hope to find the real culprit in the process. As you do, your connection to the islands grows stronger, and you start to consider moving there permanently.
Aspiration: Beach Life
Career: Conservationist - Environmental Manager branch
Traits: Child of the islands, Green fiend, Romantic
Rules:
Do not move out of your childhood home before getting married.
Get married as a young adult.
Have a formal wedding with all available parents and grandparents attending.
After the wedding, have a vacation or move to Sulani with your spouse. (The former requires making a rental lot there. However, it may be easier for gameplay purposes to just move there.) If you have My Wedding Stories, you may also use Tartosa for this generation (though Sulani is still recommended for the Beach Life aspiration).
Start by having a negative relationship with at least one of the locals.
Join the Conservationist career when you have already started your vacation.
While still on your honeymoon, find the Sim who actually caused the disaster. Find out that said Sim is only a toddler/child living with a single parent. The child thinks your spouse is the other parent, but eventually discovers that this is not the case. (Whether or not your spouse actually is the single parent's ex is up to you.)
After your vacation ends (if you picked the vacation option), permanently move to a different lot in Sulani. Or if you already moved there, move to a different lot.
After permanently moving to Sulani, improve your relationship with other residents.
Optional (Eco Lifestyle): Improve the eco footprint of your neighborhood to green.
Optional: Give children Italian or ocean based names.
-----
Generation 6: Mario Party / Mario Kart / sports
You have always been the life of the party and enjoy hanging out with people. Whether it's just hanging out or having a friendly competition, you're always looking forward to having a good time. You have a large group of friends (and even enemies?) you always invite to hang out with you. You are also athletic and enjoy participating at many sports.
Aspiration: Party Animal
Career: Athlete - Professional Athlete branch
Traits: Active, Cheerful, Party animal
Rules:
Live in a big house with fitness equipment and games (this doesn't have to apply as soon as you move out but if your house isn't big initially, you must either add more to it or later move to a bigger lot).
Have a wheel of events that you spin on several occasions and whatever it lands on, you have to do. You can choose what is on the wheel and how often you spin it. The events can range from something simple (e.g. eat a specific food for breakfast) to something drastic (e.g. [specific character] dies - but remember that the heir isn't allowed to die).
Have many friends/acquaintances that you invite over frequently. You may use the club mechanic from Get Together for this. You may even invite disliked Sims and enemies if you want to.
Host a club gathering or social event at least once a week.
Reach level 10 in the fitness and charisma skills.
Gain the People Person and/or Energetic lifestyle.
Win a video game tournament at least once.
If cars ever get added to the game or you have a mod that allows it, own a car.
Other than the heir, any children you have should have randomized traits (but having more than one child is optional).
Alternatively, once your oldest child ages up into a child or teen, pick a random child to be the heir, and change traits with cheats or a re-traiting potion if necessary.
Optional: Use in-game randomizer (or another random name generator) to determine children's names.
-----
Generation 7: Super Mario Galaxy
You have always wanted to go into space and visit different planets. And now you finally have the opportunity. When you're not doing preparations for space travel or actually in space, you're attending festivals or learning about the stars. However, as a result of always exploring the galaxy, you have not had the opportunity to make many friends. The ones you do have, you hope to keep close.
Aspiration: N/A (you can use a mod to get a space aspiration)
Career: Astronaut - any branch
Traits: Ambitious, Genius, Loner/Loyal
Rules:
Have space themed posters in your room even as a child/teen.
Visit at least one festival (City Living/Snowy Escape) before joining the astronaut career.
Reach at least level 7 in the Astronaut career.
Build your own rocket.
Own a backyard observatory or telescope.
Reach level 10 in the rocket science skill.
Visit Sixam.
Visit a festival after visiting Sixam (you may also visit festivals between the first visit and this, and they don't all have to be in the same location).
Have 1-3 close friends, possibly including your partner/spouse.
Gain the Close-Knit lifestyle. (You may use a mod to increase the friend count for the Close-Knit and People Person lifestyles, but it must be at most by the total number of parents + siblings + children who are friends or closer.)
Complete the alien or space rock collection.
Optional: After completing your goals, have a sibling or close friend move in with you and complete their aspiration.
Optional: Give children space themed names.
-----
Generation 8: New Super Mario Bros. / Super Mario 3D Land/World
You have decided to move to the countryside, a place where a distant ancestor of yours once lived. The world may have advanced since then, but living here in the middle of nowhere makes you feel like you've gone back in time a few centuries. And you like it that way. You also love cats and make sure to have cats in your life.
Aspiration: Fabulously Wealthy / Friend of the Animals (your choice)
Career: Self-employed (no career goal)
Traits: Cat lover, Loves outdoors
Forbidden traits: Cringe, Dance machine, Evil, Geek, Genius, High maintenance, Lazy, Mean, Snob
Rules:
Live in the same neighborhood where your Generation 2 or 3 Sim lived, but have a different house (can be on the same lot as the old house, as long as it is replaced).
Make money by selling collectibles/plants and running errands.
Own at least 4 pet cats (they don't all have to be at the same time).
Reach level 10 in the gardening skill.
Use aspiration rewards to buy the money tree.
Be the leader of a club with 4-6 members with outdoor activities.
Be friends with your fellow club members.
Befriend a wild fox or rabbit.
Be enemies with an evil Sim and fight them at least once.
Have multiple children, all of whom have a different color theme (you may edit them in CAS to make this possible).
Optional: Other similarities between this and the Gen 2 Sim, such as appearance, clothing style, activities they like to do etc.
Optional: Live with the Off-the-Grid lot challenge.
Optional: Give children names which have to do with their color.
-----
Generation 9: Super Mario Maker
You don't want your life to be determined by others. Everything you do, you do in your own way. Even your own house was built by you and you want to make sure that most of the furniture was made or improved by you, too. Now this doesn't necessarily mean that you want to live alone, just that you don't want anyone else to tell you what to do or do things for you.
Aspiration: Lord/Lady of the Knits / Master Maker / Nerd Brain (your choice) (you may also use a mod to get an aspiration based on handiness/crafting or other creation, as long as it does not involve having a non-freelance career)
Career: Self-employed (no career goal)
Traits: Maker, Perfectionist, Creative/Freegan
Rules:
Build the house where you live after moving out (don't use pre-existing homes). Don't build more than one room in a day. Live with your parent(s) until you are ready to live in the house. Continue building the house when you live there.
Make money by selling various items you make. You may run a retail store or yard sale to do it but this is optional. You may also complete gigs as a freelancer (required for the Master Maker aspiration).
Use the woodworking table to craft furniture for your house.
Any type of furniture that can be crafted should be crafted by you and not bought in build mode. (The only exception to this is the toilet. You may own a cheap toilet until you unlock the ability to craft a toilet at level 10 handiness.)
Use your handiness to upgrade other types of appliances that can't be crafted.
Reach level 10 in the handiness skill as well as at least one of the following: cross-stitching, fabrication, knitting, painting.
Play an instrument casually (you may use ones in public/generic lots) but don't make any money from music.
Optional: Live with the Simple Living lot challenge.
Optional: Give children unique or uncommon names.
-----
Generation 10: Super Mario Odyssey
You want to travel the world and see as many places as possible. On your journey, you meet and form a friendship with a lonely ghost. They join you in your travels in hopes of finding their long-lost sibling, also a ghost. In terms of your own relationships, you meet a Sim you date for a while, but when it comes time to propose, they reject you. Realizing your goals in a relationship are different, you break up. Do you try to find love again or stay single for the rest of you life?
Aspiration: City Native / Mt. Komorebi Sightseer / Angling Ace / Outdoor Enthusiast / Jungle Explorer / Friend of the World (your choice) (you may also use a mod for a travel aspiration bit these often require many specific packs)
Career: Style Influencer
Traits: Adventurous, Dance machine/Music lover (may also have both)
Forbidden traits: Evil, Mean, Noncommittal, Paranoid, Socially awkward, Squeamish
Rules:
Move out as a young adult.
Frequently visit other worlds/lots. You may take vacations, move frequently or just visit lots in different worlds. Gain the Frequent Traveler lifestyle.
Visit at least 10 different worlds or as many as you have available.
Have 5 different everyday outfits at any time (you may also give your Sim makeovers). Preferably also have multiple outfits in other categories.
Wear a hat in at least some of your outfits.
Date a Sim but don't have very high romance.
Meet and become friends with a ghost. You can have them temporarily move in with you.
Have your ghost friend join you when you travel to other worlds.
After visiting some places together with the ghost, meet the ghost's sibling (also a ghost). Have the ghost move in with their sibling.
Propose to the Sim you're dating, but have them reject the proposal. You might be able to increase the probability of rejection by having the other Sim have the noncommittal trait or not have very high romance. (In case it doesn't work, save the game before proposing and keep restarting until the proposal is rejected.) Break up after this.
Take a photo in every world you visit and place photos of different worlds on your wall.
Reach level 10 in an instrument or dancing skill.
At some point, go to a city and meet some of the locals.
City Living: Have one of the residents you meet be in the Politician career and have them sing at some point.
Optional: Said person is a descendant of your Gen 1 Sim. Their family has been living in the city all this time.
Optional v2: Form a romantic relationship with the Sim, have them move in, have them reach level 10 in the singing skill and level 10 in the Politician career - Politician branch. (If you do the other optional, the two Sims would be 8th cousins, which I think is distant enough for the game to not consider them related, so it could be possible to do both options.)
Optional: Give children location based names.
-----
Generation 11: Super Mario Bros. Wonder
You love exploring new and particularly unusual things. As a young adult, you move to a new place with your group of friends and explore what it has to offer. You particularly like flowers, so you make sure to plant as many as possible. The rarer, the better.
Aspiration: Freelance Botanist
Career: Gardener (or another one of your choice)
Traits: Use any traits that you have not used very often and feel like you want to use more
Rules:
As a young adult, move to a world that you have not used in this legacy before (or if you have lived in every non-vacation world available in the packs you have, move to a new neighborhood/lot).
Live with at least 3 roommates as soon as you move out (can include siblings, friends, romantic partner and others of your choice).
Have a garden where you grow many plants, including both flowers and fruits/berries/vegetables.
Use the "talk to plant" interaction at least once (requires gardening level 4).
Seasons: Grow seasonal plants of every season.
Growing Together: Aim to complete as many milestones as possible (you don't have to get every milestone, and you may choose not to do certain milestones if they don't fit your story or your Sim's personality).
For Rent: Live in a residential rental with at least 12 total residents (or 8 Sims and 4 horses) - preferably 2-3 households. You can choose who the property owner is.
Snowy Escape: Climb Mt. Komorebi.
Optional: Become an occult and make your occult form resemble an elephant as closely as possible (could be hard if not impossible to do, at least without CC).
Optional: Give children uncommon or flower names (since this is the last generation, having children at all is optional).

Mario Legacy Challenge: 1989
Last year, Mario's sister Pauline aged up into a teen and got a new music player as a birthday present. Mario and Luigi are still working on their childhood aspirations.
Tumblr media
One Monday morning, Pauline is the first member of the Mario family to wake up. She starts to eat breakfast while the others are still sleeping.
Tumblr media
Lady plays some basketball with her sister Luigeena, who came to visit.
Tumblr media
Mario decides to listen to some music he likes. After a while, Luigi joins him and starts dancing.
Tumblr media
Does Emmalyn Winters have a love interest now?
(I did get a thing saying the date was a success. However, iirc when I checked Emmalyn's relationships panel, Raiden wasn't even there. Also I think Raiden might be an MCCC or Neighborhood Stories generated son of Dennis Kim or something, I'm not really sure since I don't have the game open at the moment.)
Tumblr media
Feeling flirty, Lady thinks about the possibility of getting into a new relationship.
It's been about a year and half since her husband Jumpman died. She of course still misses him and wishes he was alive.
Tumblr media
As a child, Pauline disliked fitness, but now she is starting to like it. Maybe not as much as her brothers, but still to some extent.
Tumblr media
One day after school, Mario invites over his classmate Juanita. They both like video gaming, so they decide to play a game on the Mario brothers' NES.
Tumblr media
In the summer of 1989, the Marios travel to the Seaside Kingdom, where they spend some time with the Parata & Kato family (they were Jumpman's neighbors like 20 years ago). I'm not sure if they already knew about Jumpman's death before this point, but they certainly do now.
Tumblr media
Pauline orders some food from a nearby food stall.
Tumblr media
The Marios talk with Caitlin and Rhonda while their parents (or stepfather in Caitlin's case) have gone somewhere else.
Tumblr media
Since it is the Seaside Kingdom, the Mario siblings also spend some time swimming.
Tumblr media
While everyone else has gone somewhere else, it's now just Lady and Caitlin in the house. They are becoming closer friends now.
Also, did you know that Caitlin is actually closer in age to Lady than she is to her younger half-sister Rhonda? That's right, Lady is 8½ years older than Caitlin, while Caitlin is 10 years older than Rhonda.
Tumblr media
Some time after returning home, the Marios go to a library, but it seems that Pauline is the only one actually looking for books.
Tumblr media
Lady finally gets to work on her writing skill on a computer.
Tumblr media
Lady is not the only one using the computers. Mario does as well in order to practice typing (all of this typing stuff is required for his childhood aspiration). After all, before he can teach typing, he has to learn it first.
Tumblr media
After a quick nap and pondering chess moves to get in a focused mood, Luigi does his homework. (Normally I don't bother with the kids' homework due to the good schools trait, but Luigi needs it for his aspiration.)
Tumblr media
After Luigi is done with his homework, he and Pauline play a game of chess. Despite Luigi having the mental skills aspiration, he still loses.
Tumblr media
Marianne visits the Marios... and she looks quite annoyed for some reason.
Tumblr media
After typing, the only thing Mario needs to complete his childhood aspiration is some time on the monkey bars.
Tumblr media
One day near the end of the year, Pauline feels the need to learn more about her father. Maybe she looks at some stuff her family has, I don't really know for sure. But while she does, she imagines Jumpman being there. She can imagine him telling her about... the Kongs, I assume.
Tumblr media
And now he tells Pauline about how he's happy and owns an amazing car...
Maybe Pauline got a bit too carried away with the imagining.
Tumblr media
Pauline decides it's for the best if she just goes to sleep.

Mario Legacy Challenge: 1987 (Part 1)
Last year, Jumpman started traveling to different places as part of his circus job. His sons Mario and Luigi aged up into children, getting an NES as their birthday present.
Tumblr media
Now that Mario is a child, he will start the Gen 2 goal of going outside every day (meaning every in-game day in this case).
Tumblr media
Mario and Luigi go to a park (the same one Pauline and Kayla went to last year). The twins play on a Jungle Gym. (I also made Mario and Luigi tell a few jokes so that Mario would be in a playful mood, allowing Mario to complete the first stage of his childhood aspiration.)
Tumblr media
Luigi finds a chessboard and decides to try out playing it (not sure if he even knows the rules but maybe Jumpman taught him at some point or something). (Luigi's childhood aspiration involves playing chess.)
Tumblr media
Pauline discovers that just like her younger brothers, she also likes playing video games.
Tumblr media
Jumpman and Lady are sitting on a bench outside their home. It's not long until Jumpman's next work trip begins, so the two just want to enjoy being together.
Tumblr media
Although he is only six years old, Mario has managed to order some food from the nearby food stall with no help from his parents.
Tumblr media
The Marios spend a lot of time talking (both when Jumpman is home and when he's not) during the first months of the year. Now, for example, Pauline is talking about not liking how her dad goes on such long work trips.
Tumblr media
Luigi and Pauline start wondering what Jumpman's life at the circus is like. Luigi thinks the must have so many delicious cupcakes. Pauline is talking about how Jumpman and his co-workers must be constantly packing stuff, like with moving.
Tumblr media
Lady also joins the conversation to talk about Jumpman's basketball career. All those years ago, he quit his job over having to wear a ridiculous costume. Now he literally works at a circus.
Tumblr media
Some time later, Lady suggests that the family should read together (except Jumpman, who is not home at the moment). Luigi is particularly interested in the idea. (Both Luigi and Lady also advance in their aspirations from this.)
Tumblr media
While eating dinner one time, the Mario brothers start talking about the moon. Mario wonders if the moon is an egg. Luigi is pretty sure it's a rock.
Tumblr media
One night, the Marios hear what sounds like arguing from Emmalyn's apartment. The Mario brothers attempt to distract themselves from the noise by playing video games.
Tumblr media
Lady knocks on Emmalyn's door to figure out what is going on. Turns out what they heard was Emmalyn's frustration with a treadmill (which I assume she bought quite recently).
Tumblr media
Pauline has a dream that is likely linked to her future career.
Tumblr media
Lady is feeling flirty as Jumpman returns from another work trip. However, Jumpman is feeling tired so perhaps now is not the best time for romantic interactions.
Tumblr media
It's a school morning, but Mario still plays an NES game.
Tumblr media
Even at home, Jumpman still has work related dreams.
Tumblr media
After some planning, Jumpman and Lady are finally on a date (while the kids are at school). This is the same location where Jumpman proposed to Lady 15 years ago. It is also the same location where Jumpman introduced his friends Luigeena (Lady's sister) and Tony to each other, and the two would end up getting married, and it was at this wedding where Jumpman first met Lady. So this location is clearly important for the two.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, their date is not going quite smoothly as this random stranger (Belinda) keeps looking at them with an annoyed look... Ugh, if you don't like people being romantic, maybe don't go to one of the most romantic date spots in the city.
Tumblr media
After Belinda finally leaves, Jumpman and Lady get to have some romantic time together. It's nice to have a moment like this.
Tumblr media
And they also get to have a nice view of the city. That whole thing with the stranger at the beginning aside, this is a pretty successful date. Unfortunately, it still has to end.
Tumblr media
By the time Lady's 35th birthday takes place, Jumpman has already left on another work trip. Lady doesn't have a big celebration, but she does invite her friends Elle and Emmalyn.
Tumblr media
Lady is still thinking about her date with Jumpman. She really hopes she gets to have even more such dates in the future.
Tumblr media
Mario decides to go to a nearby spice festival. Unfortunately, the spicy food makes him feel uncomfortable.
Tumblr media
Jumpman has arrived at the next destination of the circus, which is in a jungle.

Mario Legacy Challenge: 1985 (Part 2)
This year is already nearing its end. Jumpman has already completed his aspiration, but things aren't quite done yet.
Tumblr media
Jumpman has gone to work like normal but things aren't going that well. The gorilla that's quite possibly the main attraction of the circus, Donkey Kong, has escaped.
Tumblr media
Now this isn't just bad for the circus. Donkey Kong has been wreaking havoc on the city. (This screenshot was actually from like a day or two earlier so when this happened in-game, it was too early for Donkey Kong's escape to have happened. But I thought this could be a fitting screenshot for the moment.)
Tumblr media
Jumpman doesn't know it yet, but Donkey Kong has kidnapped Lady and taken her to a nearby construction site. This is his idea of getting revenge on Jumpman for capturing him. Also a sign of the Kongs being more intelligent than typical gorillas since he was able to identify Jumpman's wife.
Tumblr media
Jumpman's boss, Harrison Gibbs, blames Jumpman for DK's escape. After all, maybe if Jumpman hadn't constantly mocked the gorilla for messing up the pineapple juggling trick, he wouldn't have become so angry.
Tumblr media
Jumpman, feeling embarrassed, knows laughing at the gorilla wasn't exactly the best idea.
Harrison orders Jumpman to look for Donkey Kong... of course he does...
Tumblr media
Jumpman is so angry. It wasn't his fault the circus wanted to have a gorilla! But he knows he can't just let DK get away. That gorilla could cause so much damage to the city.
Tumblr media
After some searching, Jumpman spots Donkey Kong in the distance. But that's not all. DK has captured Jumpman's wife. Now Jumpman is even angrier than before! And he has more motivation than ever to stop the gorilla!
Tumblr media
Donkey Kong has spotted Jumpman approaching him. But he won't let Jumpman win so easily. Jumpman took him away from his home, now it's time for him to suffer!
And here's where the plot of Donkey Kong (1981 arcade) starts. (Due to in-game limitations, we're not actually seeing any barrel throwing and climbing here.)
Tumblr media
Above all, Donkey Kong is feeling sad. He misses his old home. But since he doesn't know how to get back, he focuses on revenge instead.
Tumblr media
After a long climb and constantly dodging barrels and fireballs, Jumpman has finally managed to catch up to Donkey Kong. Now it's time to get Lady away from the gorilla safely.
Tumblr media
Donkey Kong has been defeated... for now. The next step is to get him back to the circus. If only Harrison was actually here to help Jumpman instead of accusing him.
Tumblr media
Before taking DK back to the circus, Jumpman has a brief romantic moment with Lady. But even then, he's thinking about the strength he'll need to transport the gorilla.
Tumblr media
It's time to return to the circus. Jumpman attaches DK to some kind of leash to keep him from escaping... but it can't be easy considering how heavy and strong the gorilla is.
Tumblr media
Donkey Kong has been brought back. He's asleep so at least that means he won't be escaping for now. But who knows how soon he wakes up?
Tumblr media
Jumpman tells Harrison all about how he found DK. How his skills in running and jumping, which he did a lot as a basketball player, came in handy.
Tumblr media
Harrison seems to be a lot happier now than he was before the gorilla was caught. Instead of angrily accusing Jumpman, he's now... kind of friendly?
Tumblr media
Harrison tells Jumpman about a new plan for the circus. Instead of staying in one location, they will travel around the world, giving them the chance to have even more visitors than before. And, of course, Jumpman will have to join them if he wants to keep his job...
Tumblr media
Jumpman starts to consider the pros and cons of this. On one hand, he gets to explore some other locations in the Mushroom World. He's pretty much been in Brooklyn (or nearby areas) nearly the entire time since the 1964 Olympics, aside from a few times when he visited Kaori's family in the Seaside Kingdom. But on the other hand, he will have to spend longer periods of time away from his family. He'll still get to return home multiple times a year, including for all the major holidays, but is it often enough?
Tumblr media
Harrison tells all the details about the travels while trying to convince Jumpman to join. He explains that every time they go to a new location, there will be lots of packing. But all travel expenses and other costs that come from being in different places will be covered by the circus.
The circus will leave in January 1986, so Harrison will require an answer by then.
Tumblr media
Jumpman and Lady are so happy to be back home again. Their daughter Pauline is instantly here to greet them. She has been worried ever since she heard about the gorilla escaping.
Tumblr media
Lady and Pauline hug. They're all glad that Jumpman and Lady are both fine after what just happened.
Tumblr media
After Pauline goes back inside the apartment, Jumpman and Lady spend some time being flirty.
Tumblr media
But of course, the main thing Jumpman needs to tell Lady is about the new changes to his job. Jumpman tells every detail about what Harrison just told him. Lady is quite surprised by the news.
Tumblr media
Lady states that no matter what Jumpman chooses - to travel with the circus or to lose his job - she will still love him either way. And Jumpman will also love her.
Tumblr media
But for now, the year is reaching its end (and we didn't even get a single picture of toddler Mario for this post, but oh well). Also, by the end of 1985, both Mario and Luigi managed to master all of their toddler skills.
For Jumpman's experiences in 1986, see this post.

Mario Legacy Challenge: 1980
We begin a new decade following the end of the 1970s last year. As of now, Jumpman and Lady are living in an apartment with their one daughter, Pauline. But things are about to change...
Tumblr media
Jumpman and Lady begin the year feeling flirty.
Tumblr media
Not long after, Lady discovers she is pregnant. Being a family-oriented Sim with the Big Happy Family aspiration, she is happy about this.
Tumblr media
Lady tells her husband the big news. He is happy too.
Tumblr media
Some time later (still in Q1), Lana Yee comes to visit the Marios. While she is here, Jumpman tells her about his time as a professional basketball player (a job which he quit because they made him become the team mascot).
Tumblr media
Jumpman also decides to introduce Lana to one of his other friends, his neighbor Emmalyn Winters. Lana seems interested in becoming friends, but Emmalyn not so much.
Tumblr media
A major reason for Lana's visit is a flea market which happens to take place near Mario's home apartment (and I guess going there also gives her an opportunity to visit an old friend). Lana and Jumpman go to the flea market together. Lana is sure Jumpman won't be able to haggle successfully.
Tumblr media
And she's right.
The vendor here is Elle Craig, a person Lady briefly met while visiting an art gallery a while back.
Tumblr media
A while later, Lady also goes to the flea market. She and Elle get along quite well and even become friends.
Tumblr media
After the flea market, Lady tells Emmalyn about her pregnancy. And Pauline happens to be there too.
Tumblr media
At some later point, Jumpman goes jogging. And he also plays some basketball while he's at it.
All of this boosts his fitness skill to level 7, making it one of 4 skills (along with comedy, logic and handiness) where he's at this level. He has also already reached level 8 in charisma and cooking. This means he only needs to level up in the 4 skills in order to complete the Renaissance Sim aspiration.
Tumblr media
Jumpman and Lady read some books to improve their skills even more (handiness for Jumpman and writing for Lady, the latter being something she needs for her job).
Tumblr media
Lady's sister Luigeena invites Lady to join her at a festival. (In-game this is the Humor and Hijinks Festival, but I don't think Luigeena would really be the type of person to attend that type of festival, so I will just say this is a tea festival). This is in the same location as the New Year's festival about 10½ years earlier (in which Jumpman celebrated the start of the 1970s).
Tumblr media
Just like then, Emmalyn is here again, wearing the same yellow dress. (Just as before, she is joining the Jokesters team.)
Tumblr media
A tea which makes its drinker glow yellow (at least until the end of the festival)? This is what Luigeena and Lady came to check out.
Tumblr media
The festival also gives those attending the opportunity to paint, so Lady decides to paint a playful painting.
Tumblr media
In the summer of 1980, the Marios go on a vacation. They are staying in a vacation home in the Seaside Kingdom, not far away from where Jumpman's former neighbor Kaori and her family live.
Tumblr media
The first member of the family they cross paths with is Rangi, Kaori's husband.
Tumblr media
And next is Caitlin, Kaori's daughter from before she met Rangi. She was still a child back when Jumpman first met her and now she's a young adult.
Tumblr media
Both Pauline and Lady make sand sculptures (individually).
Tumblr media
Jumpman makes fish dinner for the family. Jumpman is working as a fisherman as one of his two part-time jobs, though I'm not sure if this particular fish was caught by him.
Tumblr media
One day during the Marios' vacation, the Kaori & Parata family comes to visit the place where they are staying.
Tumblr media
Here is Kaori and Rangi's daughter (Caitlin's younger half-sister) Rhonda, who was born shortly before the family moved to the Seaside Kingdom. The two children don't seem to get along, however.
Tumblr media
Pauline seems to be getting along better with Kaori's older daughter. (They even gained a positive sentiment, but I don't remember which one.)
Tumblr media
After the Marios return from their vacation, Jumpman spends some time fishing even outside of work. (With this, he is also improving his fishing skill, as he's at level 2 but needs level 4 in order to be promoted in the fisherman job.)
Tumblr media
It's October and Jumpman is in panic as his wife is about to give birth soon.
Tumblr media
The babies are twin boys. The older one is named Mario, just like his father (and yes, their last name as well). The younger one is named Luigi, after Aunt Luigeena. That's right. The Super Mario Bros. are here! And with that, Gen 2 has been born.
Tumblr media
Pauline meets her new siblings and she's not happy at all. How dare her parents have more children and not give all the attention to her?
Tumblr media
And just to recap, here is the full family tree so far. (Including some stuff that hasn't been covered in the Tumblr posts yet on the Robotnik family side. There will be a Tumblr post dedicated to what happens with the Robotnik family, which is basically a side household that's irrelevant to the main story except at the very beginning.)
Tumblr media
And pretty much the rest of the year is taking care of the newborn babies. The renovations for giving the twins their bedroom haven't been completed yet.
For Jumpman's experiences in 1981, see this post.

Mario Legacy Challenge: 1975
Last year, Pauline got pregnant after trying for a baby with Mario. The two are expecting their baby to be born in the second quarter of this year. They are still living with Luigeena (Pauline's sister), Tony and their infant daughters, but with a new baby on the way, they are looking for a new apartment.
Tumblr media
Early in the year, Mario is feeling sick. And he also has the fear of a dead-end job so he might consider looking for a new job. (At this point, I think he still has one more job needed for his aspiration so he would have to quit at some point anyway.)
Tumblr media
Mario isn't the only one not feeling well. Luigeena has a headache. (I played all of Gen 1 without computers - except for the typewriter thing in the Robotnik family house where Mario lived for the first day - so I couldn't exactly buy medicine.)
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Pauline and Tony are both able to achieve promotions in the style influencer and business careers, respectively.
Tumblr media
Before Pauline's child is born, she spends some time reading to her niece Marianne.
Tumblr media
And the baby is here! Say hello to little Pauline! And to avoid further confusion, I will be referring to Pauline Sr. by her nickname Lady from now on. (I don't really have a similar way to distinguish between the two Luigeenas.)
Tumblr media
With the twins getting older, Mario upgrades their beds from infant cribs to toddler beds (gaining some handiness skill).
Tumblr media
The twins are about to age up from sunny infants to charmer toddlers. (I didn't have a picture of the two together as toddlers - at least not one from 1975 - so here's one as them as infants.) And yeah, aging from an infant to a toddler isn't really a birthday with my MCCC settings since it happens when they're 1.5 years old.
Tumblr media
Before the Marios move, Luigeena spends some time entertaining her newborn cousin. Of course, being only 1.5 years old, she is unlikely to remember ever living with the Marios.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Marianne starts developing her toddler skills by playing flash cards with her father. (Though considering the households are split soon, they won't be part of the main household for much longer, which means their toddler skills won't really be developed more than this.)
Tumblr media
And now the Marios have moved into a new apartment. (With the kitchen and dining room taking up like half of the apartment, there's not much space for the bedrooms - we can probably assume that the bedrooms are smaller in-game than they are in-universe.)
Tumblr media
As it turns out, Mario's new neighbor is Emmalyn Winters! She was someone Mario met at the new year's festival at the beginning of the decade. Though they haven't seen each other much since, Mario and Emmalyn form a friendship quite quickly.
Tumblr media
And now Pauline is an infant, with the cautious trait.
Tumblr media
Now that Mario and Emmalyn are friends and neighbors, Emmalyn gets to know the rest of the Mario family as well.
Tumblr media
Being an infant means it's time to try some infant food. (The ones that Pauline tries in 1975 are all ones she feels unsure about.)
Tumblr media
At some point of the year, Luigeena and Tony come to visit. (I have no idea where the toddlers are. Daycare maybe?)
Tumblr media
And now Luigeena gets to know Emmalyn as well.
Tumblr media
On some occasions, Emmalyn also helps with taking care of baby Pauline.
For Mario's experiences in 1976, see this post.

Mario Legacy Challenge: 1973
Last year, Mario proposed to Pauline and the two started planning their wedding.
Tumblr media
The wedding is happening in Q1 of the year.
Tumblr media
But before that, Tony invites Mario to join him at a flea market. Obviously, in-universe this isn't on the same day as the wedding (in-game it was because each day represents 3 months). Tony has heard Mario is not good at haggling so he wants to show Mario how to haggle successfully.
Tumblr media
Mario manages to haggle, yet despite this, he's not actually planning on buying anything.
Tumblr media
Mario will be leaving this apartment behind after the wedding, but he still has one last repairing left to do. (At least it's a way to improve his handiness skill.)
Tumblr media
The wedding has started! Pictured here are just some of the guests: Luigeena Arthur (Mario's soon to be sister-in-law), Kaori Kato, Regan Espinoza, Tony Arhur, Rangi Parata and Lana Yee. Although he doesn't appear in any of the screenshots (at least not recognizably), I'm sure Nico (Pauline's father) is also at the wedding.
Tumblr media
It's time for the ceremony. The guests have gathered here to watch as Mario and Pauline get married.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And with that, Mario and Pauline are now married. Their last name being... also Mario, the last name Mario took back in 1964 when he left behind his old family. Admittedly, the members of this family aren't the most creative when it comes to naming. (There will be more of that later in the post.)
Tumblr media
One more goal for the wedding is to have some drinks...
Tumblr media
...as well as some food. There is a caterer who made plenty of this yogurt thing (I don't remember exactly what it was) for some reason.
Tumblr media
While all of this is going on, Kaori is playing with her younger daughter, Rhonda. Caitlin is also somewhere at the wedding but doesn't appear in any of the screenshots.
Tumblr media
Following the wedding, Mario moves in with Pauline, who is already living with Luigeena and Tony. So now it's two sisters and both of their husbands living together in the same apartment.
Tumblr media
Luigeena is now pregnant (iirc she was already pregnant when Mario moved into the household). Also, since she is in the culinary career, she is generally the one cooking, though this particular instance isn't going that well due to her feeling uncomfortable from the cheap fridge. (She needs cooking level 2 to be promoted in her job.)
Tumblr media
This apartment doesn't have as many problems as Mario's old home, but it still doesn't mean they don't have to deal with the occasional toilets breaking. At least it's a way for Mario to improve his handiness skill.
Tumblr media
During their two years of living together, Tony and Pauline have had to deal with not getting along that well, but they have been working on improving their relationship. (Of course, in-game, most of this happened over one game of chess.) Pauline is determined to make things better and after some talking while playing chess, the two have finally managed to become friends. With this, Pauline also manages to get over her fear of unfulfilled dreams (which she apparently had before this point though I don't think I ever mentioned it in the original tweets other than when she got over it).
Tumblr media
Pauline isn't the only one to play chess with Tony. Mario, still aiming to improve his logic skill, also plays some chess (and now that he lives with the Arthurs, he can play chess even more frequently than before). And he also tells some jokes to improve his comedy skill. (With this, he gets comedy skill level 6.)
Tumblr media
As for Pauline, she needs to work on her writing skill for her job as a style influencer. (I used the skill book for this.)
Tumblr media
It's Q4 of the year and Luigeena is going to give birth soon.
Tumblr media
It's twin girls! The older twin is named Marianne, after Mario (and the "-ne" ending might be a nod to Pauline). The younger twin... well, she's just named Luigeena after her mother. I told you they aren't the most creative when it comes to naming.
Tumblr media
Both Mario and Pauline spend some time with their newborn nieces. The next year and a half is basically going to be all four of them taking care of the twins.
For Mario's experiences in 1974, see this post.

Mario Legacy Challenge: 1972
Last year, Mario started a relationship with Pauline, the younger sister of his best friend Luigeena. Now let's see how things continue.
Tumblr media
One day in early 1972, Mario meets Pauline while she is returning home from her job as a style influencer.
Tumblr media
Mario also happens to see Luigeena. Interestingly enough, she talks about food with Pauline, but fashion with Luigeena (who is in the culinary career). After taking outside, the three all go to Mario's apartment. Though since Mario and Pauline are in a relationship, Luigeena might feel like a third wheel there.
Tumblr media
Later that year, when Mario and Pauline have been dating for about a year, they go on a date on a rooftop lounge. This was probably the same spot (it is in-game at least) where Luigeena and her husband Tony met when Mario introduced the two to each other. And it was at Tony and Luigeena's wedding where Mario and Pauline first met.
Tumblr media
The two have a highly successful date. Though they have gone on many dates before (not really in-game, but I assume they have in-universe), none have quite felt as romantic as this one.
Tumblr media
And it's time! Mario purposes to Pauline and she says yes!
Tumblr media
With this date and proposal, Mario and Pauline both gained the deeply in love sentiment. It's clear for them both that this is meant to be.
But since the two are now engaged, the next step is to plan the wedding.
Tumblr media
But before that, Mario goes to train at a local gym in order to work on his fitness. (He still needs to work on skills for his Renaissance Sim aspiration, after all).
Tumblr media
Later on in the year, Mario travels to the Seaside Kingdom to visit the Kato & Parata family. In case you don't know (or don't exactly remember) who they are: Kaori Kato is Mario's friend and former neighbor who moved away in late 1970. Kaori was originally the single mother of Caitlin Kato. She later started dating Rangi Parata and the two ended up having a daughter named Rhonda, born in 1970. Kaori and Rangi are not yet married at this point (I'm not exactly sure when they get married but it happens off-screen).
Mario is presumably here to invite the family to his upcoming wedding.
Tumblr media
Mario goes swimming with Rangi and the two get to know each other better.
Tumblr media
Mario also spends some time playing with Rhonda before returning to Brooklyn.
Tumblr media
The next person Mario invites to his wedding is Regan Espinoza. (And apparently he tells a story involving bats as well.)
Tumblr media
Later on, Mario talks to Luigeena. I assume Pauline already told about the engagement off-screen considering Pauline is currently living with her. And of course, as both Mario's best friend and Pauline's sister, Luigeena is coming to the wedding.
Tumblr media
And can't forget about Tony. At the moment he is very sad. (No idea why. Maybe one of his relatives died. I know that can't be the case in-game because I never made any relatives for him, but it could be the in-universe reason for his sadness.)
Tumblr media
Mario and Pauline have already invited some guests to the wedding. (There are some other guests that I never showed here so we can just assume those were invited off-screen.) Now it's time to make some more planning for the wedding.
Tumblr media
Before the plans are finalized, Mario gets to know Pauline's father, Nico Rigassi. The two may have briefly met at Luigeena and Tony's wedding, but this is the first time they get to know each other properly.
Tumblr media
As for all the wedding plans made so far: the wedding is set to be held in Brooklyn Park, the same venue where Luigeena and Tony got married two years earlier (it's the best wedding spot in all of Brooklyn). The date is in Q1 1973, probably March.
Tumblr media
As for some other news, Luigeena and Tony are now trying for a baby.
Tumblr media
Here we have Mario's new neighbors after Tony and Kaori moved away (Tony and Mario first met when Tony moved to Mario's neighboring apartment and Tony later moved away when he married Luigeena). They are Keegan Barron (left) and Harrison Gibbs (right). Of course, Mario won't be their neighbor for long...
Tumblr media
Mario and Tony talk about their plans for the near future. After the wedding, Mario will be moving in with Pauline, who is also currently living with Luigeena and Tony. So for a while, it will be the four of them all living in the same apartment. But at some point, Mario and Pauline may want to look for an apartment of their own. But there are other things to do first.
Tumblr media
As we are approaching the end of the year, Pauline comes to visit Mario's old apartment. Now the wedding is only 3 months away and the two can't wait.
For Mario's experiences in 1973, see this post.

Mario Legacy Challenge: 1969
Last year, Mario's new neighbor Tony Arthur and best friend Luigeena Rigassi got into a relationship. Now it's time to see how things between them and in Mario's life continue.
Tumblr media
One of Mario's recurring activities is playing chess at Luigeena's home. (It's the main method for increasing his logic skill, one of the skills he works on for his Renaissance Sim aspiration.)
Tumblr media
And, unsurprisingly, Tony is here as well. Luigeena and Tony have been spending a lot of time together in the past year or so ever since Mario introduced the two. (I honestly can't remember if I brought Tony here to have more Luigeena/Tony interactions of if Tony arrived on his own.) While the two chat, Mario builds logic skill by pondering moves on his own.
Tumblr media
Later that year, Kaori invites Mario and his friends to join her at the local spice festival. We have Kaori, Lana, Luigeena, Mario, Regan and Tony all here, ready to try out the festival activities.
Tumblr media
They all try out the spicy curry challenge but, of course, Mario failed. Here are some images of the others too.
Tumblr media
Luigeena decides to dance to the festival music while Tony seems to be suggesting moving in with her. Mario dislikes dancing so he won't be joining this activity.
Tumblr media
But of course, the main reason why they came to this festival was so that they could sample some of the food (not just the spicy curry).
Tumblr media
There's also a guitar performance. (The character performing isn't relevant to this playthrough and I'm honestly not even sure if this is a premade townie or one generated by the game.)
Tumblr media
And, of course, Tony and Luigeena continue being romantic.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Mario is just having a casual conversation with Regan. Now I have no idea what Lana and Kaori are doing at this point but they're probably doing some festival activities. I'm also not sure who are babysitting Mariam and Caitlin (daughters of Lana and Kaori, respectively) at he moment but it's probably someone Mario doesn't know.
Tumblr media
And now it's time... Tony decides to propose to Luigeena! (I'd assume the in-universe proposal probably took place somewhere else, but then again, I was doing all of this while still controlling Mario so I just took the opportunity to have the proposal with MCCC while the two were on the same lot as Mario.)
Tumblr media
And she says yes! Tony and Luigeena are now engaged and are preparing to have their wedding in the near future.
Tumblr media
One last festival activity remains, which is harvesting some random plants. (This slightly increases Mario's gardening skill.)
Tumblr media
After some more time at work, Mario is promoted to level 3 of the Manual Laborer career, the final step needed for completing the second milestone of the Renaissance Sim aspiration. Soon, it's time for Mario to look for a new job. But first, he spends some more time with other Sims.
Tumblr media
Mario visits the Katos and gets to know Caitlin a bit better.
Tumblr media
Some time later, Mario goes to a flea market with Lana in order to watch a performance. He goes there directly from work, which is why he's still wearing his work clothes.
Tumblr media
Though not an obvious choice at all, I eventually decided to have Mario join the culinary career. (I mostly just wanted to avoid jobs involving computers in daily tasks.) Maybe we can say that he works as a bartender or something. Making these drinks will boost his work performance.
Tumblr media
At the end of the year, Lana invites Mario to join her at a New Year's festival (actually the Humor and Hijinks Festival in-game). It's the end of not just a year, but a decade!
Tumblr media
And as with many festivals, Mario tries out some food.
Tumblr media
Mario also meets someone new at the festival. This is Emmalyn Winters, another resident of Brooklyn. (She and Mario were both members of the Jokesters team, as indicated by the yellow glow surrounding them.) Lana seems to have already left the festival even though the year hasn't ended yet.
Tumblr media
Of course, it's not a proper New Year's festival without some fireworks. Time to celebrate the new year and the start of the 1970s decade!

Mario Legacy Challenge: 1974
Last year, Mario got married to Pauline and now lives with her along with her sister Luigeena, Luigeena's husband Tony and the newborn twins Marianne and Luigeena (yes, there is a repeated name here - both are different characters from The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!).
Tumblr media
Mario and Pauline only have to be in the same room at the same time and they're already feeling flirty.
Tumblr media
Luigeena is the one who mostly prepares breakfast for the family, since she works in the culinary career and as such, doing this boost both her cooking skill and her work performance (daily task).
Tumblr media
In addition to cooking, Luigeena also works on her mixology skill at a local lounge.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Mario is improving his logic skill by playing chess with Tony.
Tumblr media
The twins have aged up into infants. Here are have Luigeena Jr. (left) and Marianne (right). The four adults all take care of them (whoever is the least busy at the moment) and here we can see Tony feeding them.
Tumblr media
Pauline, a family-oriented Sim, has decided that she wants to have a child as well. So she and Mario will start trying for a baby soon.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile in the Seaside Kingdom, Caitlin Kato has aged up into a teen (not sure about the exact timing since that was probably something that happened off-screen but I just posted it on Twitter when it had been 10 years in-universe since the start of the legacy). Also, Kaori and Rangi got married by this point (in-game I just did it using the elope immediately interaction).
Tumblr media
And after some time, Pauline is now pregnant. The apartment is big enough for now, but the Marios will start to look for a new apartment as they won't have enough rooms for both the Mario and the Arthur (Luigeena and Tony's last name) children.
Tumblr media
Another romance festival (or perhaps a tea and romance festival?) occurs, and Regan invites Mario to try some tea. Since it's about romance, Mario brings Pauline along with him. (If you're wondering why Pauline looks different here, it's because she has 4 everyday outfits.)
Tumblr media
Mario and Pauline do many romantic interactions together.
Tumblr media
A lot of the year is spent taking care of infants. On at least one occasion, when Mario and Pauline are already asleep and Luigeena is still at work (she has quite late shifts), it's Tony who takes care of the twins.
Tumblr media
Luigeena works on her mixology skill through a skill book. This also improves her fun after a long day at work.
