oeuvre: zadie smith
this fall, i begin an odyssey to re-familiarize myself with my favorite authors, to be introduced to those i have longed to read and study their works and to acknowledge authors who are recommended to me. i have decided to devote time to researching the lives of the selected authors, reading their oeuvres and in the future posting a personal analysis/opinion on their works at digital book club. this week begins a look into zadie smith as she debuts her newest novel in VII years, a tragic-comedy, nw  on september IV, MMXII.
zadie’s latest inspiration: virgina woolf "kept her going." “i was just trying to find a way to be adventurous and do something new in the writing while still holding on to the things that I can do well… so [virginia woolf is] just a good example of a forward-thinking and yet consistently humane writer, and just a great female modernist. An old inspiration returned to me at the right moment.”-book expo america interview
