It's National Cold Cuts Day!
Today is National Cold Cuts day. It is a day to celebrate and enjoy a selection of cold meats! The history of this day unknown, but we love it anyway!
Our menu is full to the brim of dishes perfect for this day. Enjoy them with our famous tomato bread or combine them with our gorgeous cheese platter. However you choose to enjoy your cold cuts, here are a few favourites from our menu!

The Las Fallas Festival!
The Las Fallas Festival is underway in Valencia, Spain. This exciting festival marks the beginning of spring with a bang. During the festival the population swells massively in Valencia with so many people coming to enjoy it.
The festival is focused on the creation and destruction of Ninots (puppets). The Ninots are sculptures made from cardboard, wood or paper mache. The sculptures usually depict people or scenes from current events like politicians and celebrities. Some Ninots are so large that they take an entire year to create. People within the community come together and put in a lot of effort to try and make the best one because only one Ninot will be saved from destruction.
The Ninots are put into place (set locations around the city) at the beginning of the festival and left there until March 19th – the day known as the burning. The burning usually begins in the early evening when small holes are made in the sculptures and they’re stuffed with fireworks. The street lights are all turned off and one Ninot is saved by public vote from destruction – This Ninot is known as the pardoned puppet and is kept in a museum. Every gathers together and at exactly midnight, the Ninots are set alight!
The history behind this festival is quite murky but it’s a fantastically fun way to welcome the spring.

National Drink Wine Day
It’s National Drink Wine Day today! We have been recommending wine’s from our menu to you over the past couple of months and today seems like the perfect time to try one (or a few)! Here’s a re-cap of some of our selected wines for you;
The Flower and the Bee – Treixadura. - Treixadura is quickly gaining a reputation as Albarino's more voluptuous cousin. There’s a beautiful aroma on the nose of peaches, apricot and white flowers. The palate starts round and silky but with a refreshing grapefruity finish.
Viña Izadi Reserva – Tempranillo - This red has spent a considerable amount of time in oak, building up on body, spice and tannins. This example is full-bodied with a broad sweet palate and a deep long finish.
La Cuna de la Poesía – Garnacha - As pale as a Provence rosé and twice as good! Full of juicy and sweet strawberries, cherries and raspberries coupled with a lovely creaminess on the mouth.
Milú - Tinto Fino – It’s as honest and rustic as wine gets. Full bodied with black fruit and spice and plenty of dense sweet tannins, this is the perfect winter warmer, and it's organic too.
La Liebre y la Tortuga – Albariño - Very citrusy on the palate and focused with a zingy acidity and a dry saline finish. Albariño tends to be the perfect match to seafood, thus enjoy it with our sardines in brine.
Xarel•lo – It’s clean, focused and very precise, being the perfect pair to our delicious mortadella and mascarpone on coca bread.
Zorzal - Very lively strawberries and raspberries are found on the palate of this Garnacha from Rioja's neighbouring region.
