PRIVATE:
So you're like a good, respectable person right? This is a weird and lame question I know, but I don't know why but I trust you. What's the best thing to do on a date around here? Like where's good to eat or what activities can you do? I need it to be extra special.

Yeah but sometimes hypothetical situations can become real. Yeah everyone is saying hydrate, which is common sense really, but I always forget. That does sound gross, but worth a shot. I struggle to sleep if I have a cough, if not then I sleep pretty heavy when I'm sick.
Tumblr media
This is just treating the hypothetical symptoms, not the problem, and you’ve probably heard it a dozen times at least, but hydration really is key. Even if it doesn’t fix everything it’ll at least make it so you don’t add dehydration to your list of problems. Also the taste is awful, but licorice root tea is my go-to if I have something coming on. It can help with sleep too if that’s an issue.

Wow you talk a lot. Okay.
I just want quiet places with no people. I'm in the school if music, does that count? Can I get keys to a practice room? I've never really asked before. But thank you for all of your suggestions, I will think about it.
Tumblr media
There are a couple of rooms off of the counseling center specifically meant for that sort of thing. You can reserve them or drop in if it’s a spur of the moment need. Fair warning, the closer it gets to exam season, the quicker they get taken. If you’re okay with places with less structure that fit the bill though, there are some options. The back of the third floor of the library is pretty empty since it’s mostly archive materials up there that nobody really touches. There’s a computer lab near the engineering building that doesn’t get a ton of traffic, if you want somewhere that’ll let you get some work done too. And this is cheating a little, but if you or anyone you know is in the school of music, you can usually get a key to one of the practice rooms. They’re pretty soundproof which is their biggest appeal, you just have to fight your way past a few tubas to get there.

A key ring? I don't think so, I don't really have that many. What does it look like?

Hey, did you happen to leave a key ring behind after the shelter in place order was lifted? I just threw everything that I thought was mine in a bag and left, but now I’m realizing this isn’t mine. I’m pretty sure they were near the bar when we were chatting. @dannyssylvester

3 ships / first ship ever: Aladdin and Jasmin from 1992 Aladdin maybe? Well I'm aroace and I don't quite get what "ships" are😵‍💫 But both characters were relateable to me, and they are alike on many levels so, I don't know, but if I ever were in a relationship I'd love if it was with someone who thinks in similar way and dreams of the same things... Only with no lying to each other😅
last song: Mille Colombes by Mireille Mathieu
last movie: Artykuł osiemnasty (documentary about why there are still no gay marriages in Poland after all those years in EU. Kind of painful to be reminded that some ppl I now respect and vote for were saying such a stupid homophobic shit back in 2000s and 2010s😑 But good to think ppl change with time too)
currently reading: Chamowo by Miron Białoszewski. Kind of a diary of a poet. And it's a mystery to me to read sth that is not easy nor much pleasant to read actually and yet I don't want to quit trying. I like his style even if it is exhausting to read a plotless narration for longer than an hour straight. But I'm just really fascinated by how with simple short sentences and just few words (neologisms often) a person with poetic/artistic mind can describe both his mood and his surrounding the way I just intinctively get what he means and feels... I hope to learn some of this straighforward simplicity by myself maybe?😅
currently watching: my Tumblr dash is my only regularily watched show🙃
currently consuming: peanuts without salt and dried banana crisps
currently craving: to never need to get back to work again😮‍💨

WALDEN - Review
DISTRIBUTOR: Uncork'd Entertainment
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS: “Walden Dean is a stenographer, whose job has led him to bear witness to all types of injustices in the courtroom. After discovering he has a terminal illness, repressed anger deep within him surfaces - taking justice into his own hands in the most gruesome ways imaginable.” Press notes
REVIEW: Mick Davis’ WALDEN is an interesting blend of Southern gothic and vigilante films with an interesting character at its heart. Walden is a likable innocent soul whose circumstances force him to lose his objectivity and become an avenging angel.
It’s obvious that Davis’ script is influenced by several films. The character of Walden bears a striking similarity to Annie Wilkes from “Misery,” especially due to a scene where he takes his pound of flesh from a nurse who gets away with murder. The story also borrows from 1962’s “To Kill a Mockingbird.” Walden and his friend George in some ways mirror the relationship between Scout Finch and Boo Radley. While Walden’s initial vengeance feels like a contemporary “Death Wish” film with a dash of violence that doesn't quite reach the level of a “Saw” film, the story does take a darker turn into a David Fincher type tale when it comes to the missing children from the town. Early on Walden meets Emily Duperon, a fellow contestant in a stenography competition. It's an endearing and interesting aspect to the story that ultimately comes to an abrupt ending early on. I would have liked to have seen a more interesting resolution to that story element. The press notes state that Walden has terminal illness, but in his scenes with the physician I came away with the impression it was operable making it a tad confusing.
The locations, production designs, and costumes do a nice job of creating a Southern small town atmosphere. The cinematography looks like a Hallmark/made for TV feel and might have added more atmosphere if they went with more of a “Midnight In the Garden of Good & Evil” look. The editing sets a nice pace for the narrative and sustains the viewers engagement. I like the special and visual effects. They show just enough blood and gore to embrace a more diverse audience. Mathieu Carratier’s score is well done, adding to the atmosphere, but there was nothing memorable, notable, especially in terms of adding to the film’s emotional elements.
WALDEN has a solid ensemble cast. Actor Emile Hirsch, who portrayed Speed in the 2008 film “Speed Racer,” creates a wonderful character with WALDEN. He balances a variety of character traits with a Southern accent. He does an excellent job of sustaining the character’s innocence as he faces his darker demons, rendering a likable and engaging character. Similarly, actor Luke Davis creates the compelling special needs character George who is one of Walden’s few friends. As Emily, actor Kelli Garner creates the quintessential Southern belle with complex intentions toward Walden. Veteran actor David Keith is a natural as the town’s judge.
WALDEN is a complex hybrid of a story with some excellent actors. Director and writer Mick Davis has a full plate and does an impressive job of balancing all the elements of this story. Many of his cinematic references are obvious but he combines them skillfully and with solid characters to serve up an engaging film. Additionally, a talented cast makes for a solid viewing experience.
CAST: Emile Hirsch, Shane West, Kelli Garner, Tania Raymonde, Luke Davis and David Keith CREW: Director/Screenplay - Mick Davis; Producers - Seth Michaels & Sara Sometti Michaels; Cinematographer - Viorel Sergovici; Score - Mathieu Carratier; Editor - Joel Cox; Production Designer - Tonya Haswell; Costume Designer - Eric Luken; Special Effects Supervisor - J.J. Some dashed off "Wolf Hall: The Mirror and The Light" (Ep 1) PBS thoughts-- spoiler-ish not so much in discussion of events but in discussion of their portrayal/depiction
-I re-watched the original series in the week leading up to this and it really is That Good. The scenes between Cromwell and More in prison actually make me cry (also, the version from the PBS site actually *has* the "Words, just words" bit, which the YouTube one doesn't). (Also also, do we think Jack Lowden's reps just had his scenes as Wyatt scrubbed entirely, or what's going on there? It must be some kind of contractual issue; I can't think of any other reason why, since I clearly remember them from the original broadcast.)
-New Gregory seems... fine? I understand ol' Frog-Swallower is busy being Spiderman (is he? Or is that done now?); it's too bad, though, I liked him in the original.
-What was Mathieu Amalric doing, that he couldn't come back? He was *perfect* as Chapuys; he nailed the sly, subtle hauteur. New guy is... there? All during the tower/strawberry scene I couldn't help but think how much better this would be with Amalric in it.
-Lilit Lesser is flawless. I've always had a ton of sympathy for Mary Tudor, later career notwithstanding-- in one way or another, she was a prisoner her whole life, and deprived of the love she so clearly craved, from... anyone. (Highly recommend weeping into somebody's fur coat if you ever get the chance-- I've done it, and it is top-flight crying.)
-Wriothesley. See, now I'm really torn. Like, I'm very happy that Harry Melling is having a career, and he's been getting to do some interesting stuff. Love that for him. But I wonder if he isn't just a shade *too* slimy, right from the off. Joel MacCormack was great because you really felt for him, as you should, otherwise it doesn't sting as bad. (Graham Greene: "After all, one is not betrayed by an enemy.") I am glad they kept his spotted collar (seal? leopard?); it's such a nice touch. Very curious to see how they play his arc out.
-Which brings me to my last point: Wolsey's ghost. I don't love this, and I don't love that they're already leaning on it so hard. Jonathan Pryce is amazing-- I saw him in a play a few years ago and had a blast-- but I really don't feel like this was necessary? I know it's a thing in the book, but again, did we need him to be in every other scene? I think not. *Also* whatttt was the idea behind that last scene, playing that specific conversation as being between him and Cromwell, rather than Cromwell and Wriothesley? Because, if I'm not mistaken, it's pretty crucial that Wriothesley is the person who puts the sadly unheeded warning in Cromwell's ear about "the Cardinal's greatest enemy", i.e. Henry? Very, very curious about this.
-All during the buzz for Conclave, I kept wondering why Peter Straughan's name seemed so familiar. Now I remember.
-Griping aside, I am truly glad this is back on; just watching Rylance and Damian Lewis do their thing is such a treat.

Thanks for saying that, I don't know if it's any more difficult than standard psych, I think it's more about focusing on different aspects. Still, the head exploding? I've definitely felt that now and then. Yup, that's definitely what got me on board in the first place. So are you here at PSU for Psychology as well?
Tumblr media
Sports psychology is a pretty big undertaking. I’ve got to give you major props for that, my standard psychology program almost made my head explode in undergrad a few times. I’m guessing your football background made you interested in it?

You are honestly a human DSM-5 and I don't know why anyone else bothers with therapy at this point instead of just talking to school. Come see it in person and then you can dissect my brain about it.
Tumblr media
My deepest and trust self is just some guy hunched over the DSM-5 and reviewing brain lobes at 2am. I don’t know how exciting that is to share so I’ll defer to the rest of the school to inspire you in this one. Tell me more about your piece though, that sounds fascinating. Or is it better to see it in person first?

a few things to know about me:
Tumblr media
— living the barzal and crosby life -ˋˏ religiously  ˊ-
— i write imagines and make gifs! / do not repost and or steal any of my work + gifs (no matter how bad they are) on other platforms ie. twitter, instagram, inc. tumblr
— the realest hockey quote is still the one where joey said “hockey was a big mistake” bc hun, it is. i dove head first and never came back up
— i love mat when he’s speaking french cos he kinda looks like a smol bèbè. however, tito speaking french? don’t ask me about it i have a weakass pussy
— i’m an adult poc so pls pls lmk if you’re a minor before you interact with me. i don’t mind chatting with yalls but i tend to say things that would for sure get me to jail and i don’t think i’ve watched enough prison break for me to escape that shit
— i have a soft spot for captains ang goalies but i’ve never wanted anything else than to be dicked down by a d man. (ryan graves, i’m talking to u)
— forwards are cute too but they do be sloppy sometimes,, mathew i’m looking straight at you don’t you dare look away
— my ass is pretty much owned/legally allowed to be railed by mat barzal, sidney crosby, tyson jost, andre burakovsky, and sebastian aho only.
