Daniel’s a singer who goes semi-viral after a video comes out of him heartbroken during a F1 race after his favourite driver retires.

(Max is the favourite driver. He has no idea who Daniel is. But he would love to find out.)

HOMECOMING: A WINTER SOLDIER AU

summary:

“Hydra have been active recently.” And that got Max's attention. “We've been tracking their movements and we fear they’re attempting to activate the Winter Soldier.” As Nico spoke a few faces scrolled past the screen; current, known directors in the Hydra organization– senators, city councilmen, business owners. The slideshow ended with a photo of a man with short wiry curls and the second half of his face obscured. He was mostly turned away from the camera but Max would recognize his profile anywhere.

“Daniel.” Max breathed.

So idea of a fanfic (maxiel)

Where Daniel and Max are ice skaters, dancers, and rivals (with a maximum age gap of 4 years). They are both very talented individually, with Daniel representing Australia and Max representing the Netherlands. However, during a competition, Daniel and Max are forced to pair up. Together, they are like Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir. Daniel is like Tessa Virtue, and Max is like Alexandra Trusova, but together, they perform like Tessa and Scott.

Obs: It could be Max/Girl! Daniel or Girl/Girl or Boy/Boy whatever! PLEASEE

Any idea what’s happening with maxiel fest?

The collection will go live shortly! It’s been super difficult my end because I’m in the south of France for a wedding and the airbnb I’m staying in has no wifi and my phone signal is shit! So making the masterpost was so slow, so so so slow, and I didn’t get home until 1am so we decided to post it this morning. Sorry, it’s literally all my fault for realising too late that I couldn’t put the collection live at 8pm last night!

Packing list for Maxy's backpack!!! Or as he calls it, his 'bapa'. Because of the crazy F1 travel schedule is that Max and Daniel can use their plane time as Maxy and Daddy time! It helps Max start and end his weekends better, and having his own plane means they can have it ready to go from Air Max to Maxy Express whenever they need or want to.

They keep his blankets, some bigger toys that are plane-only, and some other miscellaneous supplies like diapers, basic extra clothes, bottles and little dishware on the plane. Of course along with some pre-prepped tomato soup, stuff for cheese toasties, and other Maxy approved food and drink. Daddy said Maxy should put special stuff in his backpack, so Daddy carries all the boring stuff that isn't already on the plane, like chargers, pullups, wipes, bibs, etc. Some of what Maxy carries is a duplicate so that he can have the preferred version of the item or have it with him during long car rides.

Daniel noticed that Maxy did much better with travel when he helped Daniel prepare for it--it also helps Maxy prepare himself for a trip. So he made a packing list for Maxy that allows him to not only participate but do it independently! Now that Maxy knows Daniel will never tell him he did it wrong, he loves to try things all by himself so he can show Daddy! Daniel is also a big fan, because he loves helping and being with Maxy more than anything, but he appreciates having some time where Max is adjusting while Daniel can take a breather and focus on preparing for his trip and packing for himself.

Once his packing sheet is finished, Daddy laminates it so he can use a dry erase marker to cross off all the items he finds and puts in the bag. A treasure hunt for all of his favorite things!! Maxy is always so proud of himself when he finds things he's looking for and fits them neatly into the bag. His happy flappy hands are out when he's getting all his favorite things ready for an adventure. There's even a spot for his list inside his coloring binder so he can do his treasure hunt away from home too.

Next is gonna be Mr Roar's backpack I think, but I would also love requests/feedback!! (Also the AO3 post is currently hidden because of Maxiel fest, might add a truly mystery chapter in there)

What is Maxiel Fest?

Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo have never succeeded in being normal about each other and now it is time to celebrate their permanent heart eyes with a festival of all things Maxiel.

What can I do for Maxiel Fest?

Absolutely anything! Fic, art, a video, gifsets, moodboards, playlists, journals… the list is endless. If you can create it, it is welcome in Maxiel Fest.

Can I include other pairings?

Yes absolutely, but Maxiel must be the primary relationship and the endgame. You may also write OT3 if you would like to, as long as it includes Max and Daniel.

What are the requirements?

• Your creation must include Max and Daniel as either a romantic or platonic pairing

• You must tag your work accordingly

• That’s it!

When is the deadline?

August 17th, this is in the middle of the F1 summer break! The collection will go live at 8pm GMT.

Do I need to sign up?

No, it’s a no pressure fest. Simply upload to the collection before the deadline if you want to participate.

What shall I do if I’m not posting to AO3?

If you can post your work to AO3, please do! We like to feed the archive. However if AO3 doesn’t accept your art format then please use the tag #maxielfest2024 on tumblr.

Is there a discord server I can join?

There are TWO! This fest is a collaboration between Golden Boots Boy and Honey Badger. You are very welcome to join (even if you are not participating! cheerleaders welcome!) and both servers have areas for discussing writing and for sprinting together.

Can you provide any inspiration?

Absolutely, the Golden Boots Boy server has prompts that you can pick up here. You can also follow @maxielfest for inspiration and prompts that we will be reblogging.

Maxy and Daddy have worked together to make a rules sheet! Daddy wanted Maxy to have reminders in a place he could always see them even when he isn't with Daddy. And Maxy does better when the expectations are set out for him. He is much less anxious about whether he might be doing something wrong and not even know it.

The paper goes with him in his coloring binder, where there's a section for all the 'Maxy papers,' like his packing list, his rule sheet, and other information for caregivers like Mr Roar rules and practical info about Max just in case they need it. It says Daddy's rules, but it's really for everyone so they can all be consistent and Maxy can tell them all about him and Daddy--his favorite topic.

They designed it together, and Maxy requested a lion for him and a koala for Daddy. Daddy surprised him with Daddy and Maxy koalas and Daddy and Maxy dinosaurs! So now every time he flips to the rules sheet, he tells everyone excitedly about the daddy and baby animals "just like Daddy and me."
