( ♡ ) — POV I: FLASHBACK TO THE ANIMAL SAVING.

Todo mundo ao redor de Molly, incluindo seus pais, achava que a garota gostava de causar problemas. Era mais comum encontrar a filha de Circe tendo que consertar alguma coisa mais do que a encontrar fazendo alguma coisa certa. O problema era que isso não passava de uma interpretação errada da Mayfair, pois não gostava nenhum pouco de causar problemas, apenas atraía aquilo como imã atrai metal.

Entretanto, tinha um único tipo de problema que a garota fazia totalmente de propósito. Estragar o dia de empresários nojentos. Alguns anos depois de ser recebida no Acampamento Meio-Sangue a garota resolveu entrar em uma ONG de proteção à natureza e aos animais, pois sendo uma bruxinha muito dedicada, ela queria ajudar o meio ambiente de todo modo que podia. E nessa brincadeira Molly acabou formando um grupinho de ativistas mais radicais, que sem avisar a ONG, costumavam invadir fábricas de cosméticos para destruir tudo. Quer dizer, libertar os animais que eles usavam para fazer os testes químicos.

Molly estava naquele exato momento em uma van, acompanhada de cinco mortais, indo para uma fábrica que eles haviam descoberto se tratar de uma fachada para experimentos animais. Ou seja, era sua maior inimiga atual. A filha de Circe, entretanto, tinha noção de que não podia sair por aí usando seus poderes ou conjurando feitiços, afinal iria acabar atraindo monstros e estava sozinha com aquelas cinco pessoas que sequer conseguiam olhar através da névoa, mas mesmo assim decidiu os acompanhar.

Invadiram o lugar mais horrível do mundo com uma maestria assustadora, pois já haviam se tornado veteranos. Conseguiam andar por aqueles corredores sujos e nojentos sem fazer sequer um barulhinho. E sem muitas delongas chegaram no lugar onde todos os coelhinhos e ratinhos estavam presos. O coração de Molly se apertou no mesmo instante. Como podiam fazer aquilo com bichinhos tão fofos? A bruxa já achava ruim quando eram maldosos com animais mais desprovidos de beleza, mas com aqueles que poderiam ser os pets mais adoráveis do mundo? Tinha que ter um coração podre demais para fazer aquilo.

Molly correu para soltar aqueles que estavam mais perto de si, enquanto os outros foram em direção às demais gaiolas. Eles já estavam treinados para fazer aquilo naturalmente, mas aparentemente um deles deve ter feito barulho demais, pois logo todas as luzes acenderam. Merda, haviam sido pegos.

“— Ok, saiam daqui. Agora!” avisou para os outros, que a olharam de maneira estranha. Não era comum, mas Molly teve que revirar seus olhos. Não podia explicar o que estava prestes a fazer, porque não podiam apenas lhe escutar e irem embora? “— Não se preocupem, eu sei o que to fazendo.” tentou mais uma vez, mas eles não pareciam tão convencidos.

Foi naquele exato instante que um guarda entrou no lugar, gritando igual um maluco e segurando um taser. Desde quando os seguranças tinham tasers? Bom, talvez tivesse sorte de não ser uma arma de fogo. Por ter ficado na gaiola mais próxima da gaiola é claro que a Molly foi a primeira tacada, e quando homem acionou aquela arminha e os fios para lhe eletrocutar foram direcionados, a semideusa simplesmente desviou com uma velocidade divina e se abaixou para chutar suas pernas em uma rasteira que era digna de alguns elogios de seus amigos combatentes.

Ok, talvez as aulas de combate corpo a corpo fossem úteis no final das contas.

Ela não perdeu tempo, pois mais dois seguranças estavam entrando na sala. “— Se vocês não forem embora agora… Eu juro que os próximos a levar isso aqui vão ser vocês!” ameaçou e finalmente pareceu surtir algum efeito, com os cinco mortais correndo para pular pela janela.

Enquanto os seus colegas não saiam dali, Molly teve que se virar com apenas golpes marciais. Ela não era a melhor lutadora do acampamento, mas contra dois mortais usando armas idiotas que com toda certeza se achavam muito mais do que eram? Era praticamente o Bruce Lee. Conseguiu parar todos eles, e quando se virou, seus amigos haviam ido embora.

“— Ai, graças a minha avó!” exclamou aliviada, então olhando para os três mortais caídos no chão. Riu, sussurrando um feitiço que ficassem grudados ali até ela sair. E depois disso foi muito mais fácil simplesmente pegar as gaiolas para retirar pela janela. Todos os seus amigos levaram os pobres animais para a van, com a intenção de os entregar para abrigos e também os libertar na natureza. Isso era algo que iam fazer mais organizadamente depois, mas naquele momento Molly simplesmente estava feliz de ter conseguido salvar os bichinhos.

E claro, antes de simplesmente ir embora, teve que sussurrar mais um feitiço: o dono daquele lugar iria ser acertado por um dos tasers de seus seguranças na próxima vez que fosse ali. Acidentalmente, claro.

O famoso escritor Barry Hannah costumava dizer que todas as histórias são histórias de fantasmas: algo encanta as páginas de uma história e força o leitor a virar as páginas para descobrir do que se trata.
