2019 Mazda CX-5 Adds Turbo Engine, New Trims for U.S.

Mazda refreshed the CX-5 for Japan earlier this month, and it looks like the U.S. will receive some of the same updates. A product information bulletin reveals the 2019 Mazda CX-5 on our shores will boast a new turbocharged engine, new trim levels, and new convenience features.

The bulletin was originally posted to Reddit but has since circulated to a number of enthusiast forums. This latest leak confirms that our CX-5 will receive a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder making 227 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque, just like the Japanese model. This engine will arrive on the top two trims, Grand Touring Reserve and Signature, which are also new for the U.S. this year. These models will come exclusively with the turbo engine and all-wheel drive. Lower trims—including Sport, Touring, and Grand Touring—stick with the tried-and-true non-turbocharged 2.5-liter engine and offer front- and all-wheel drive. All variants stick with the six-speed automatic transmission.

As outlined in the documents, the Grand Touring Reserve will feature a head-up display with traffic sign recognition, front ventilated seats, auto-fold door mirror, heated steering wheel, heated rear seats, and a windshield wiper de-icer. Unique standard features for the top-tier Signature model include ambient interior lighting, black headliner, 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors, Caturra Brown Nappa leather-trimmed seats, genuine wood interior trim, a unique steering wheel, and special badging.

Finally, Mazda is adding Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. These features arrive standard on all trims except the Sport. Grand Touring models and above receive a 7-inch LCD display and a three-year SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link Subscription.

Like in Japan, our CX-5 will upgrade to G-Vectoring Control Plus. An advancement of the current G-Vectoring Control system, this feature uses the brakes to add direct yaw moment control, increasing stability on corner exit.

The documents also list suggested retail prices. When you factor in the destination charge of $995, the CX-5 starts at $25,345. Touring models go for $27,610 and Grand Touring models from $31,040. All-wheel drive is an extra $1,400 on these vehicles. On the Grand Touring Reserve and Signature models, expect to pay at least $35,865 and $37,885, respectively.

Despite a listing of a 2018 Mazda CX-5 diesel on the EPA’s website, this text doesn’t list a diesel variant.

Converting Speed6 Stock HIDs to MZ6 H1 Projectors, then, installing LED H1s ment to be used with Projector Housings, good news is that the Motorized adjustable height will work just fine with the conversion, but I also want to install some Angel Eyes, does anyone have a recommendation of a good set for the 1st Gen? LEDs are preferred but , CCFL or L wire is fine too just need a good recommendation, if you have a link where you got yours that would be great.
