the way noda satoru draws ogata’s fake eye actually says so much. it looks pretty much indiscernible from his real one with the exception of not being able to show emotion. it looks normal because ogata isn’t a very expressive person to begin with. his cold, dead, eyes are a trademark of his character design. however, the prosthetic eye does look very obviously fake in his death scene. he is filled with despair and disillusionment, and his real eye reflects that, but his fake eye doesn’t move. the convincingness of the prosthetic up to that point mirrors the representation of ogata as an emotionless, defective person until the moment he realizes that he feels guilt.
