After the very slow two hour drive from the airport, the couple finally arrived at their destination, California’s University of Art.
“Wake up cher, we’re here.” The older girl gently nudged the sleeping beauty next to her.
“We’re already here?” Cheryl said through a yawn, as she pushed herself off Toni’s shoulder that she was resting on.
“I mean, you did sleep most of the time.” Toni giggled as they both exited the taxi vehicle, and circled around to reach the trunk of the car to grab their suitcases. Toni got her suitcase out first then proceeded to help Cheryl get hers out.
“There you go babe,” Toni said, handing Cheryl her suitcase, “Thank you TT.” the younger girl said softly, even after years, she couldn’t help but still get butterflies whenever Toni calls her “babe”.
“Shall we go?” Toni held her free hand that wasn’t grabbing her bag for Cheryl to hold, Cheryl was a little apprehensive about holding Toni’s hand in public, in a new city, with new people, but she pushed her worries aside and held Toni’s hand.
“We shall.” Toni smiled and and squeezed her hand reassuringly.
“Gosh, Toni i'm so nervous,” the redhead bit her lip anxiously.
“Don’t worry cutie, everything will go just fine,” Toni squeezed Cheryl’s hand tighter and gave her a reassuring smile as they walked through the campus and to the reception room.
They walked into the reception room hand in hand, and headed towards the receptionist. “Good morning, um, we are here to receive our dormitory keys?” The older girl stated, Cheryl was not too far behind her.
“Names please?” the receptionist deadpanned.
“Toni Topaz, and Cheryl Blossom.” the redhead responds.
“Ok, hold on a minute…” the receptionist began searching for their names in the data papers, while they both just stood there awkwardly waiting.
“Toni Topaz, room 203. Cheryl Blossom, room 205.” The receptionist said and held out their room keys.
“Thank you.” both of the girls said in unison, and took their keys.
“I thought we were supposed to be roomies?” Cheryl said looking over at Toni as they walked to the dorm rooms.
“I thought so too, I guess it’s randomized,” the older girl sighed.
“That sucks, i'm gonna miss you a lot.” Cheryl sighed sadly, Toni stopped walking and turned to face Cheryl.
“i'm gonna miss you a lot too…but i'm pretty sure there’s a phone inside the dorms,” Toni stepped closer.
“So give me a call if you start missing me too much, ok?” Toni smirked, and started to lean closer to Cheryl, but before she could do what they had done countless of times before, she felt hands on her chest, stopping her from moving any closer.
“I'm sorry…Toni,” Cheryl said as she stepped back a little.
“Did I do something wrong?” the older girl was clearly confused by her girlfriend’s action, “No! TT, you didn’t do anything at all…”
“I guess i'm just a little nervous, since this is all new to me, new people, new city, am just scared of what would people think…of us.” Cheryl stated while she fiddled with her hands nervously, Toni smiled softly at her girlfriend.
“Hey…there’s no need to be worried Cher, there’s no telling that people would hate us, or think differently of us” Toni placed her hand on top of Cheryl’s to ease her nerves.
“I guess you’re right” Cheryl smiled slightly, intertwining her hand with Toni's and continued their walk to the dorms.
“When you get settled and all, give me a call” Toni said as they both stood in front of Cheryl’s dorm room.
“I will Toni, ofcourse.” Cheryl smiled lovingly, and they exchanged goodbyes.
Cheryl watched Toni leave to her dorm. Cheryl sighed heavly as she inserted her dorm-keys into the keyhole, praying her roommate isn’t inside, she unlocked the door and twisted handle, opening the door.
Instead of being met with an empty room to herself for at least a couple of hours, she was instead met with her roommate, doing…yoga?
“Uhh…hello there?” Cheryl said as she stepped inside the dorm room, closing the door behind her,
The mysterious girl, who was meditating on a yoga mat, opened her eyes and faced Cheryl, her eyes wide, as she pushed herself of the ground.
“Oh my gosh! Hey!” the girl stays enthusiastically, as she rolled her yoga mat quickly, and approached the girl standing near the door, “You must be my new roommate?”
Cheryl was still caught of guard by what she walked in to, but quickly composed herself, “Yeah, that’s me.”
Cheryl held her hand out to the girl, “I'm Cheryl, Cheryl Blossom,” her roommate gladly took her hand and shook it with delight, “Nice to meet you Cheryl! i'm Evelyn Evernever.”
Cheryl just smiled at her, “Nice to meet you too Evelyn.”
“Well, don’t mind me, i'm just gonna unpack my stuff!” Cheryl said as she dragged her suitcase to the empty bed.
“Yeah sure, no problem, make yourself at home!” Evelyn said, as she sat on her bed, “I’ll try not to bother you too much” Cheryl just smiled and went on to unpack her things.
“So what are you majoring in?” Evelyn questioned from her bed, Cheryl stopped mid unpacking to answer her.
“In art,” Cheryl answers continuing where she left off.
“That’s cool,” Evelyn said, “you know what else is cool? the fact that we are both redheads!” She stated excitedly.
“Uh, yeah Evelyn, that’s pretty cool.”
After about 10 minutes Cheryl finished unpacking her bags, she took a moment to admire the dorm room she was placed in.
It was fairly tidy, and the walls of Evelyn’s side of the bed were plastered with posters of bands and celebrities that Cheryl wasn’t too familiar with, the light from the sun was shining brightly through the small window in the middle of the room, causing a nice glow to the room.
While admiring the room, she spots a phone on the table next to the dressers, and she remembers to call Toni to tell her she’s all settled.
“Hey, you don’t mind if I use the phone right?” Cheryl says while pointing a finger towards the phone.
“Ofcourse not, who’re calling?” Cheryl hesitates answering for a moment.
“My…friend, we both just came in today.”
“Sure, go ahead! I’ll just continue my yoga sessions,” Evelyn said as she hopped off the bed and started to roll out her mat.
Cheryl didn’t respond back as she walked to the phone, almost in a hurry, she lifts the phone hand up to her ear, and began typing Toni’s dorm number into the dial pad.
I hope her roommate doesn’t pick this up, Cheryl thought to herself as she patiently waited to have her call picked up.
“Hello?” Cheryl almost sighed in relief at hearing Toni’s smooth voice through the phone.
“Hi! Toni it’s me.” Cheryl smiled widely, “I just finished unpacking.”
“Hey Cher,” Toni said over the phone, "Just finished aswell."
“So, how’s your roommate?” Cheryl only hopes that Toni’s roommate is a nice person, not some freak or a trouble maker.
“Well, actually…they’re not in the dorm yet, but some of their belongings are here.”
Goodie, Cheryl thought to herself, “Do you have any idea when they should be back?”
“Nope, no clue.” Toni sighed.
“You think I can come over to your dorm? just hang out a little?” the redhead was excited at this opportunity to finally spend some alone time with her girlfriend.
“Yeah sure babe, the door is unlocked.” Cheryl smiles even wider.
“Ok, i’ll be there in a min TT.” She ended the call, and headed towards the door.
“Oh, Evelyn, am gonna go hang out with said friend.” She didn’t wait for a response as she headed out of the dorm.
“Ok see ya.” Evelyn said in between one of her yoga poses.
Cheryl almost speed-walks to Toni’s room, it wasn’t that far away from her own room, so it didn’t take long before she reached Toni’s room, she gently knocked on the door before opening it.
“Hi Toni!” Cheryl entered the room happily.
“Hey cutie” Toni said as she got up from her bed and walked towards Cheryl, “I missed you a lot.”Toni placed her hands on Cheryl’s hips as she leaned in closer.
“Missed you too, TT.” the redhead says timidly before she wraps her arms around Toni’s neck, not wanting to waste anymore time Cheryl closes the gap between them, kissing Toni softly.
“God, it hasn’t even been that long, and I’ve missed you like crazy.” Toni says desperately, and leans in again.
Her lips latching on to Cheryl’s, kissing her gently, they stayed for a few moments kissing each other lazily before Toni decides to deepen the kiss, causing Cheryl to whimper slightly, Toni’s tongue moves smoothly against Cheryl’s, as Cheryl removes her hands from around Toni’s neck to gently cradle her cheeks, they kiss for a while before eventually pulling away for air.
“Toni…” Cheryl says in between breathe while resting her forehead against Toni’s, “we should probably stop there, you’re roommate could come any minute."
Toni nods against her, “Agreed, plus we should probably go look around a bit” she says while gently running her thumb across Cheryl's cheek, “Yeah…we should go to the cafeteria, am starving.”
“Same here” the brunette giggles, grabbing her wallet and heads out the dorm room with her girlfriend, walking their way out of the dormitories.
They walk together around the campus, just checking everything out, the campus field is pretty big with a  lot of benches and tables to sit on, there's a bunch of people around so it must be a great hangout spot.
They walked a little more around the campus before entering the college building, there were a  couple of students just roaming around the hallways and hanging out with their friends, the classes looked pretty normal, nothing out of the ordinary.
They eventually find their way to the cafeteria without getting lost, as expected the place was packed with students and it was extremely noisy, but the couple were starving so they just ignored the noise and went on to find a table.
They took the first empty table they laid their eyes upon, and sat down quickly before someone else could.
"What do you wanna eat babe?" Toni says while looking through her wallet for money.
"Anything, I'm actually starving!" Cheryl exclaims dramatically.
"Okay! I'll be back in a few minutes with out food." Toni says while giggling, "don't let anyone take our place."
"Sure Toni." the redhead smiles at her girlfriend, and watched her walk away.
Cheryl sat still for a few minutes, glancing around the cafeteria and observing the people, she flinches slightly when she feels a finger heavily tapping her shoulder, she looks over her shoulder only to find herself being stared down by piercing, hazel eyes.
"You're sitting on our property." the hazel-eyed girl says sternly, crossing her arms across her chest.
Cheryl was intimidated by the girl without a doubt, there were a few other girls behind the hazel-eyed girl with curly hair, but they weren't as intimidating.
"Your property?" the redhead stared back at the girl, trying not to look intimidated.
"Yes, that table belongs to us, so leave before I make you." The girl says a little rougher this time, causing Cheryl to flinch once again.
"Hey! what's going on?"
Cheryl turns her head to the familiar voice, sighing in relief when she sees Toni, holding two plates of food, looking obviously confused.
"Your little friend here, is sitting on our table." the girl says, uncrossing her arms and placing them on her hips.
"Are you kidding? Your table?" Toni says sternly, placing down the plates of food on the table, and steps closer to the hazel-eyed girl, "we were here first!"
Cheryl just sat there, dumbfounded, they can't possibly have a fight on their first day of college, and over a table!
"And I don't care, this table is ours! Get it through your thick skull." the girl scoffs, her minions laughing behind her.
Cheryl definitely wanted to punch this girl for insulting her Toni, but decided that this isn't the best idea, better not cause a scene on their first day, plus people were starting to stare.
"Toni, forget it, let's just go..." the younger girl gently grabs Toni's hand, silently telling her that it isn't a big deal.
The older girl scoffed, and gave in, "Fine." she turns away from the girl, grabbing her things and plate.
"Good luck finding a place to sit in ladies!" the hazel-eyes girl says sarcastically, sitting down with her crew on the table that they supposedly "own".
"Don't let her get to you, TT." the redhead says, subtly caressing Toni's hand with her thumb to get her to calm down, "they're just bullies."
They tried to go eat outside the building on one of those benches they saw on the campus field, but they weren't allowed to go outside with their plates, so they eventually decided to sit on the stairs, as it was the only place they found suitable.
"Feels like being the new kid all over again." the redhead sighed sadly, biting into her sandwhich, her appetite almost non-existent after the short incident.
"Now I understand how you felt." the older girl mumbles with food inside her mouth, "but I rather eat here with you than in a place filled with assholes."
"Me too TT," Cheryl swallows the bite she had in her mouth, "but we will eventually have to go eat there," she says, wiping her mouth with a tissue, "...or we would look like a bunch of freaks who eat at the stairs."
"Yeah, I know." the brunette finishes her meal and stood up to throw her plate and Cheryl's into a nearby trash can."
"What should we do for the rest of the day now?" Toni questions, holding her hand out to Cheryl to help her off the stairs.
Cheryl happily obliges, taking Toni's hand, finding herself being swiftly pulled up to her feet, "Well, we could just hang out in the campus field, maybe get something to drink?"
"Sounds like a plan." the brunette smirks.
They spent the rest of their day, sitting on a bench, talking and having a good time, drinking their Colas that Toni got from a nearby vending-machine.
And time passes quickly when you're having a good time, before the couple knew, it was getting dark and it was time to call it a day.
They walked together to the dormitories, laughing at whatever subject they were on, the incident regarding the cafeteria completely out of their minds now.
"See you tomorrow, babe." the older girl says, standing with her girlfriend in front of her dorm.
"See you TT, have a good sleep." Cheryl says shyly.
She glanced around the hallways, not finding anyone nearby, she presses a quick, soft kiss to Toni's lips, "...You too." the older girl says, caught off-guard by the kiss.
Cheryl watches her girlfriend go to her room before she unlocks her room, feeling glad that she didn't walk into Evelyn doing yoga again.
"Hi Evelyn." she says tiredly, only now realizing how exhausted she feels.
"Hi Cheryl! I haven't seen you all day, where have you been?" the other redhead says, from her bed, it seems like she was getting ready to sleep.
"Mostly in campus field." She says with a short yawn, "hey, am going to the bathroom to change."
"Ok, I'll sleep now, goodnight!" Evelyn said, as she rolls over to her side, pulling her covers up higher.
"Goodnight, Evelyn." the redhead says, grabbing a pair of PJs, and entering her bathroom.
When Toni unlocked her door, she expected to find her roommate inside, but yet again, there was no one, Toni brushed it off, she was too tired to care on the whereabouts of her roommate.
She changes into her PJs quickly before plopping down on her bed, she finds a comfortable sleeping positions and closed her eyes, hoping to drift into sleep quick.
Toni was half-awake when she heard the sound of her dorm room opening, it honestly scared the living crap out of her, so she jumps off the bed, still not seeing anything but the bright light from outside the opened door, she reaches for the lamp-stand, turning it on, it took her a minute to register what she was seeing.
"Oh, you've got to be fucking kidding."
Toni gazed back at equally shocked hazel eyes.
"Please tell me you're not my roommate." the hazel-eyed girl says, almost offended.
"Please tell me you're not my roommate!" Toni repeats the girl but with a more exaggerated tone, "what's your dorm number?" she asked, hoping that maybe the girl got into the wrong room.
"203." the mysterious girl scoffs.
"God damn it." Toni groans.
