Made up fic title: teals and heels

Ahhh this screams Mel/Ruth!! I think this could be a camp little one off where there’s some sort of big celebration going on in first (maybe a birthday party for someone like Lilah Folger, who you just *know* needs everything to go perfectly…) but several hospitality team members are ill, so it’s just Melanie and Ruth running around trying to make everything perfect. Lots of little glances between them when the firsties are being ridiculous, and a few near misses… ending up with the two of them finally getting to take off their heels and share a drink together to relax at the end of a busy day, and celebrate their success.

Bestie do you remember me once saying I had a plot for a 100k melruth fic? It's this. In about a year I have written... checks notes... a paragraph of it.

Anyway our girl Ruth is traumatised by the discovery which came out when she was crying about taking arms and Melanie broke down and told the truth. Has nightmares, can't sleep. Heads to the engine, just to talk. Long story short: melruth.

How I feel about this character: BITING CONCRETE BITING CONCRETE BITING CONCRETE I am absolutely in love with her if Ruth showed up at my door now I'd leave no questions asked. She has never done a thing wrong in her life fight me. She's a feral little chihuahua who just wants to be loved. She's lost. She's lonely. She's the only one with any braincells. She's desperately in love with her boss (which one? Both of them). She's remembering who she used to be. She's the regrettable love of my life and I would let her freeze both my arms off.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: MelRuth forever in every variation that may take from the sweet to the sexual to the completely toxic to the undefined relationship. Ruboki my New Eden beloveds. In the same vein @gohoubi's Ruth/Icy Bob fics also work. Ruth/Ben in the most fucked up trauma bonding way. #TRuth for funsies.

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: Ruth mothering Alex please I need more of that. Ruth mentoring Tristan. Ruth and Zarah!!

My unpopular opinion about this character: she is a sweet cinnamon roll

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: more confrontation with Wilford would have been amazing. Or she could have killed him.

Favorite friendship for this character: Ruth and Sam Roche!! Please I need more of them.
