The year was 1750 and Michelle, or, Madamoiselle Leblanc of the Bonnefoi house was attending one of Francis’ many galas. The elegantly, ornately crafted Versaille ballroom was spacious and filled with only the most high-class socialites and elites in Europe. “Now, ma petite, you must be on your best behavior tonight” Michelle was told. “Everyone here is very, very important.”

After watching Francis charm the guests, and watching them peer in awe at the classical beauty that was her ‘sister’ Monaco as she stepped onto the scene. Michelle felt safe and secure enough to slip into the festivities undetected, unnoticed and unscathed. However hard she tried, the girl always looked incredibly out of place. Her mahogany toned skin was peppered with little freckles, places where she was given extra attention by the long-missed tropical sun. A powdery blue gown gripped onto her mid-teenage curves over a corset and her hip-length locks were wound in a shiny, hip length jheri curl. A sigh passed her rounded, cherry lips. 

‘Might as well try to socialize’ the islander thought, although anxiety burned in the back of her mind and in the pit of her stomach. Never much of a conversationalist, her almond shaped, onyx eyes scanned the ballroom for the most non-threatening person to talk to. A stalky mediterranean man leaned up against the wall, not exactly scowling and not exactly smirking at the crowds he chose to disassociate with. The slight, deer framed girl approached shakily. “Good evening, monsieur” Michelle stammered, doing a polite curtsy.
