M E T A L A L B U M O F T H E Y E A R ? Incredible album man... Like phenomenal even. It's the first & only album I've bought in 2019... @rapsody may very well be next (more on that later) With that said, I've had a very challenging 'love affair' with @slipknot. "All Hope Is Gone" was first album I ever bought from them. After that? "Vol. 3...The Subliminal Verses" And that was about it. Even though this band is one of the most artistically and technically proficient metal bands ever, one that has consistently had one the greatest drummers and one of the greatest frontmen in rock history, albums like their self titled debut, ".5: The Gray Chapter" and arguably their best album "Iowa" were just way too dark & flirted way too much with a satanic vibe (whether it was for real or for shock value) for me to listen to and enjoy on a regular basis with a clear conscience However, this album entitled: #WeAreNotYourKind is much more balanced out, much more nuanced and a much more artistic and daring approach while retaining their signature sound, and it features some their best songs and heaviest records to date.... Still right up there as one of my favourite albums of the year so far. This afternoons #bathtimerecord is the phenomenal You Are We by @whileshesleeps Heavy, melodic and passionate. This album has riffs to die for, skyscrapering chorus lines, shouty gang vocals, breakdowns to rip off limbs, solos that pulse through me and touches of keyboards that elevate this above and beyond any other metalcore album around. Metal album of the year for me.
