identity - mhapi2024
For #mentalhealthawarenessmonth to #endthestigma surrounding #mentalhealth - I have released the #mhapi 2024 poetry prompts which focus on #theself - each poem will answer a question. Today regarding #identity - I ask myself: #whoami
who am i? imposter syndrome, an identity crisis steal someone’s identity just like this – copy their smile, copy their stance carry yourself with the same class use their words with your voice watch them always, repeat their choice – i always thought that I could chameleon my way into the heart of a social group, but I was just masking in an overfilled room.

Mental Health Awareness Month 2024 - A Poetry Initiative About the Self
#MentalHealthAwarenessMonth is here - and so is another #poetry initiative to #endthestigma with the 2024 MHAPI prompts
This year for Mental Health Awareness Month, I wanted to focus on “the self” as the topic. Part of ending the stigma around mental illness is knowing how we feel about our own mental health challenges. I often find myself telling people who speak negatively about their mental wellness or illness, “If you wouldn’t say that about your best friend, or your loved one, you absolutely shouldn’t say it…

memories - mhapi 2024
what do you remember? you tell me i was rotten, i was hard, and i was mean but you don’t ever tell about the things in-between you don’t say how you yelled and you screamed but reality lies in all of those hidden memories completely hidden by you, you’re hiding the truth keeping it all secret is the best thing you do and you don’t flinch when they believe you the hurt that it inflicts, do…

Night & Day Poetry Collection: Day 29
#Poetry #Collection - combining #Escapril poems with my #MentalHealthAwarness Poetry Initiative poems to tell my #burnout story.
MHAPI Prompt 29 / Night & Day Poetry Collection – Day 29 Day 29: service animal i used to think i was well enough to exist in the world without the crutch of another person or another living being and that when the time came that i would be fine, but as my body shows me how broken it is and that i need more than i acknowledge it needs, it becomes apparent that there may come a time where i’ll…

#Poetry #Collection - combining #Escapril poems with my #MentalHealthAwarness Poetry Initiative poems to tell my #burnout story.
MHAPI Prompt 28 / Night & Day Poetry Collection – Day 28 Day 28: self-diagnosed i thought i knew myself well enough and that i was aware of what my problems were but i realized something i didn’t before like someone having commonalities i’d never heard i doubted it at first and there was no way after everything with you there seemed to be worth in looking into the possibility of this…

Night & Day Poetry Collection: Day 7
#Poetry #Collection - combining #Escapril poems with my #MentalHealthAwarness Poetry Initiative poems to tell my #burnout story.
MHAPI Prompt 7 / Night & Day Poetry Collection – Day 7 Day 7: invisible disability If you could live a day in my skin, you’d know I wasn’t making it up, and that “it’s just anxiety” is far from accurate enough: My disabilities are invisible. I have been to doctors who have ignored my symptoms and blamed all of my pain on the lies my brain makes up under the guise of GENERALIZED ANXIETY…

The only real #monologue I do each day is when I talk about true crime, the news, or a story idea I've come up with - but this #poetry stab at it is a fun way to process how I see myself. This is the final poem in my 2024 #mentalhealthawareness #poetry initiative project

I have always been interested in #truecrime and learned in adulthood that this fits into this #specialinterest category - but people think I'm really weird for it, and I feel some kind of way about it. #Poetry is the one place where I can always defend myself succinctly. I'm an #owlperson tbh

#Grief and #loss is suffered in more ways that the death of a loved one. You can grieve #change - or #loss of #self - which has been my situation. Putting some of those thoughts into #poetry keeps this #mentalhealth experience in the conversation. #ImNotAlone in this experience, I know it. xoxo

I am the kind of person that will always be harder on myself than anyone else could be - and it is definitely a problem. My biggest #enemy is always myself. As they say in literature class: my story is #ManVsSelf And #TheSelf was the focus of my #mentalhealthawareness #poetry initiative last year!

#Morality is a challenging topic, especially in the current state of affairs around the world. In some circles, morality is objective, but others it is subjective. I find, in the end, morality starts with who you are in isolation and how you want to live. I explore that for myself in #poetry xoxo

What a strong word: #obsessed As someone who has been diagnosed with #ocd - obsessive thought patterns are a common battle in my daily life. #Poetry is the perfect outlet for me to process a lot of those thought patterns. And writing is my way of keeping #mentalhealth in the conversation
