Miesha Tate submits Julia Avila in the 3rd round!
I don't think Tate even really locked up the RNC. Looks like a crank that went across her mouth? Like it was open and Tate's forearm was between her lips, cranking on her jaw. Painful.
Completely one sided fight for Tate. Avila had no answers for basically anything Tate was doing. Went out and secured takedowns in the first 20-30 seconds of each round for 3 rounds, methodically working Avila over. Avila did well not to get too beat up I guess but she looked terrible from start to finish. No idea how to stop the takedown. No idea what to do off her back. Holding on to failed guillotines when Tate is in side control moving to mount. Not getting on her hips to create space. Just spent most of the fight looking lost.
Hope you're all ready for Tate to get a title fight. Cause she is 2-1 at bantamweight since coming back and the division has no type of new talent or stars.

She now has Miesha Tate podcast, The Sessions and this Cincinnati Bengals one. If she goes to AEW, then she'll be too busy with all of that to focus on much else. Doesn't matter where she works. Fans will see it how they want which is always as a loving couple who does what they do for family and each other. They overlook the obvious stuff by choice. Renee got a new car so that sounds like she won't have access to his truck as much.
You know, having one podcast sucks - it's just not work - but having 3 podcasts proves that Renee is incapable of getting a real job...if she gets one at AEW just because husb  begged one for her.
Well, I also have my own car...so I can still use my husband's.😉

Ketlen Vieira vs Miesha Tate
Ketlen Vieira (13-2) is riding high off of back to back wins against former champions Miesha Tate and Holly Holm. Which is wild cause you can still see how a lacking confidence in her striking is holding her back. In fact, you’d think such wins would propel her into an instant title shot but no. They were marked with such timidity on her part that she’s likely going to need one more win to get a shot at Amanda Nunes.
Vieira will face off with Raquel Pennington (14-8) at UFC Fight Night: Imavov vs. Gastelum this Saturday (Jan. 14), with the winner possibly getting themselves a title fight.

Miesha Tate welcomes Holly Holm at UFC 300: ‘Pisses me off’ people think first fight was comeback
MMA Fighting – All PostsRead More Miesha Tate never liked the narrative that emerged from her UFC 196 title win over Holly Holm, and she’s reminded of it every time a fan raves over her bottom-of-the-ninth submission triumph in 2016. “People still think for some reason that I was just getting my ass kicked in that fight,” Tate, who this past Saturday snapped a two-fight skid at UFC Austin, said…

UFC - Fight Night, Dariush vs Tsarukyan
December 2nd's edition of UFC Fight Night took place in the Moody Center at Austin, Texas and proved to me that if you miss the prelims, you may end up missing out on some good moments. In this post, I will be reviewing the main card, but I will gloss over some of the prelim fights.
Tumblr media
Prelims
Veronica Hardy def. Jamey-Lyn Horth
The card was kicked off by a Women's 125 matchup that resulted in a split decision victory for Veronica Hardy. I missed this fight.
Jared Gooden def. Wellington Turman
Jared Gooden ended up scoring a 2nd round submission. Amazing comeback. I missed this fight as well.
Rodolfo Bellato def. Ihor Potieria
Ihor Potieria was dangerously close to finishing before he gassed out and was finished by Rodolfo Bellato in the 2nd round. I once again missed this fight.
Drakkar Klose def. Joe Solecki
This is when I began to regret tuning out, because this ended in a slam knockout by Drakkar Klose. Fight ended 1 minute and 41 seconds in to the first round.
Cody Brundage def. Zachary Reese
I tuned in when this fight began, and I was a little disappointed I didn't get to see the slam knockout in the last fight, but I was quickly elated when this became the first UFC event to have two slam knockouts. Cody Brundage won the fight by slamming Zachary Reese on the side of his head as he held on to an arm-bar.
Nobody learned from Rose Namajunas that there is risk in holding on to an arm bar while your opponent is standing. It's also odd how both slam knockouts were within 8 seconds of each other, because this fight ended 1 minute and 49 seconds in to the first round.
Miesha Tate def. Julia Avila
Miesha Tate proved once again that she is still a good fight for anyone in the Women's Bantamweight division by achieving a submission victory in the third round.
Main Card
Dustin Stoltzfus def. Punahele Soriano
Dustin Stoltzfus is the weirdest fighter in my eyes, because I was almost certain that he retired after getting knocked out by Abus Magomedov, but he came from out of nowhere and submitted his opponent in the 2nd round.
I'm hoping for a good career resurgence from Stoltzfus, but I am not 100% certain he'll make it far in Middleweight.
Joaquim Silva def. Clay Guida
This was a back and forth fight, with Joaquim Silva edging out a unanimous decision in an action packed 3 round affair.
Clay Guida has cemented his legacy in my eyes, and while he can still keep fighting I think retirement will be weighing in on him soon enough.
Sean Brady def. Kelvin Gasteleum
Honestly, I think 170 is good for Kelvin Gasteleum. Sean Brady beat him by submission in the 3rd round, but I still think that Kelvin can have much better success at 170 than 185.
Deiveson Figureido def. Rob Font
This fight showcased Deiveson's amazing power and how he has only strengthened after he moved up in weight from 125.
Deiveson will soon be entering the Bantamweight rankings, as Rob Font was ranked #8.
Jalin Turner def. Bobby Green
This fight proved that even though I feel like the UFC has the best referees, there is still a lot of work to be done to make the sport safer. Jalin Turner knocked out Bobby Green 2 minutes and 37 seconds in to the first round, but the referee forced Jalin Turner to continue to ground and pound Bobby Green, and had finally stopped the fight at 2 minutes and 49 seconds.
Kerry Hatley should not be allowed to referee any more fights. This is extremely dangerous officiating that should be dealt with accordingly.
Arman Tsarukyan def. Beneil Dariush
I had high hopes from Beneil going in to this fight, and pre-fight shenanigans made me despise Arman on a massive level. The hotel altercation with Bobby Green was extremely disappointing to me when I looked at what Arman was doing during fight week.
Unfortunately for me, Arman ended up knocking out Beneil in the 1st round with a knee and punches. The fight just barely surpassed 1 minute.
Overall, the main event did not disappoint and Arman has proved that he should be one of the next people in line to fight Islam Makhachev for the Lightweight championship.
Overall Rating
8.5/10
I really enjoyed this week's UFC event. Some serious stakes in the main event for a potential title opportunity, the two men in the co-main are always down to fight. The undercard was super entertaining.
UFC fans always eat good.

Do you have a favorite UFC fighter?
I don't really watch much now, but Holly Holm was my favorite striker and Miesha Tate was my favorite grappler. Wrestling and kickboxing are two forms of martial arts that I've always wanted to learn.
