im so tired of the "we shouldnt criticize andrew tate fans, they're kids they don't know any better 🥺" and framing these boys as victims meanwhile those boys are being misogynistic bullies to the girls in their classes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
boys are coddled and treated like their beliefs and actions are harmless meanwhile girls' suffering is ignored. sure the boys are "just kids" but so are the girls.
imagine being a girl trying to learn in this sort of environment.
Tumblr media
teenage boys are engaging in abusive behavior towards their girlfriends that they learned from andrew tate and your primary concern is the left doesn't coddle men and boys in this discussion about misogyny?
Tumblr media
framing all andrew tate supporters as "young boys who don't know any better" ignores the support he has among adult men. in the UK, 26% of men aged 18-29 and 28% of men aged 30-39 agree with his opinions on women.
looking beyond andrew tate specifically, young men are more likely to feel threatened by feminism than older men. 50% of gen z men believe that feminism has gone 'too far'. there is an epidemic of misogyny among boys and young men.

i think online, people on the left have really de-centered feminism in their politics. i see so many regurgitated mra talking points spewed by people on the left. so many causally misogynistic jokes. the treatment of amber heard. it feels like just a few years this kind of stuff wouldn’t slide, or at least wasn’t as popular. we’ve ceded so much ground to misogyny,
it feels like the only people on the internet these days that identify explicitly as feminists are transphobes. i’ve seen people be called terfs/radfems for discussing basic feminism stuff. are we really ceding the womens rights movement to these patriarchy collaborators (which is what terfs are)?
there’s a global antifeminist backlash right now. it’s hard not to think of these changes within the online left as part of this antifeminist backlash—a more subtle form of it of course, but none of us (or our political beliefs) exist in a bubble.
where does this leave us? we have women all over the world losing our rights, and a left that doesn’t really seem to care all that much.
what are we doing here?

weird how people on this site talk about women with eating disorders as like people partaking in a cringy, problematic internet trend, and not people who are suffering one of the deadliest mental disorders due to a society that values thinness above all in women

hmmm not a fan of the popularization of the “all cosmetic surgery is gender affirming surgery/cis people get gender affirming procedures too” talking point talking point because it really limits critiques of the cosmetic surgery industry and how it profits off of racist, ageist, antisemitic, fatphobic, and sexist beauty standards. women make up 92% of people who get cosmetic procedures.

treating loneliness as a uniquely male issue/talking about a male loneliness crisis* is already ideologically ceding ground to incels because they believe women aren’t capable of experiencing loneliness. if we want to deradicalize incels, they must learn that women also experience loneliness and mental health issues, and they must learn to empathize with lonely women.
*there IS a crisis of loneliness in our society but it is not unique to men, women are lonely as well

i’m not vegan or vegetarian but i do think it’s unserious to call veganism fascist or a part of the fascist pipeline considering that most western fascists hate vegans and fetishize meat eating. liberals are much more likely to be vegetarians/vegans than conservatives (the liberal vegan is a well known stereotype lol)
i think a lot of you are uncomfortable with vegans because you feel like by existing, they’re casting a moral judgement on you, so you feel the need to justify your actions by saying they’re the immoral ones. stop being so insecure. they’re right about a lot of things; the amount of meat we eat in the west is detrimental to the environment and a lot of animals we eat are raised in abusive farming conditions.

what purity culture is: beliefs and attitudes within christianity in which women must remain virgins until marriage and after marriage they must be sexually available to their husbands at all times. within purity culture, only virgins can be raped. believing in purity culture is associated with believing in rape myths. it makes rape survivors feel worthless.  purity culture causes trauma in girls and women. purity culture also involves chastity rings, virginity pledges, and abstinence only sex education
what purity culture is NOT: someone disagreeing with you on fandom discourse or disliking ur fanfiction

hate hate hate when someone points out that women shave/wear makeup because of societal influences and all of a sudden the most illiterate people start saying “let women shave/wear makeup!1!!1!1!!!” who’s stopping them?
do women with shaved armpits and legs get called disgusting and unhygienic? do women who wear makeup get paid less than women who don’t?  or is it the other way around?

“misandry” is a word popularized by anti-feminists in the 1980’s to argue that women are the real sexists for fighting against misogyny and patriarchy. on the internet, the word “misandry” is used in the manosphere (misogynistic internet circles like incels and andrew tate) to argue that women are the privileged ones in society. the idea of “misandry” is clearly an antifeminist one and i’m not sure why the term is being laundered into progressive spaces.
left wing proponents of term may argue “well misandry isn’t widespread or systemic like misogyny but it still exists”. the words misogyny and misandry are so close in terms of etymology—both stem from the greek misos (hatred) and the greek words for woman/man—that the word misandry inherently brings to mind comparisons to misogyny. that’s why mras use it to deflect accusations of misogyny.
that’s not to say that men can’t or don’t experience sexism ever. but misogyny is the ideological arm of patriarchy. "misandry" is a word that obfuscates this. stop claiming to be feminists while using classic antifeminist rhetoric.

in the past, i’ve said that MRA talking points are being regurgitated on the left. one of the most common MRA talking points i see on the left is that family courts are biased against men.
yes women are more likely to get custody after a divorce, but 91% of custody cases are decided out of court. when fathers seek custody, 94% get sole or joint custody and are more likely to get physical custody than mothers.
Tumblr media
concerningly, in cases where ‘parental alienation’ is accused, fathers who are accused of abuse are more likely to win custody than fathers not accused of abuse . mothers who accused child sexual abuse lose custody the most.
family courts have a bias against women, not men, especially women who speak up about abusive men.

“why aren’t any feminists talking about what’s happening in gaza?” every feminist i follow online has talked about gaza and palestine, you just don’t see it because you don’t follow any feminists. but nice to know that you can manage to turn any event into an opportunity to deride the womens rights movement

social anxiety is frustrating because it’s a debilitating chronic mental disorder that causes depression, drug abuse, and poverty but people online see the symptoms of it as a punchline to call someone weak or a coward

women are taught to value their appearance, that being beautiful is the most important thing. women are socially and financially punished for not fitting into the category of “beautiful” (for being too fat, too old, too masculine etc). then women are mocked as frivolous and conceited for caring about their appearance, as if this “vanity” is a personal failing and not a reasonable response to being a woman in society
